" graaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh"

Hagrid hurriedly shoved screaming creature into a bowl of ice cold water .

I looked at that sight with horror and asked . " Hagrid what the hell is that thing?"

Hagrid looked up from his task and smiled . " ooh this little thing , it's an Egyptian screech beetle , you won't believe the trouble I went for to bring this baby Here . "

I looked at him with wide eyes and asked him incredulously : " why did you bring it here ?"

hagrid bellowed with laughter . suddenly the screech beetle empowered Hagrid for a split second and almost escaped . Hagrid immediately applied more force plunging it right back into the water . he looked at me chuckled : "nasty little things aren't they ?"

3 months ago , Hagrid's hut

"shriiiiiiiiiilllllllll"

Hagrid plunged the creature into molten boiling rubber effectively causing it's shrieks to die down .

I looked at the sight with horror and asked : "Hagrid what the hell is that ? "

Hagrid chuckled in reply clearly struggling the creature suddenly emerged from the vat still shrieking electricity crackling violently , he immediately plunged it down into the vat and replied : " oh this ? this is a little electric monkey , straight from China , did you know , when fully grown , these things could produce enough electricity to kill an actual giant"

I looked at him incredulously and shouted in reply : " Hagrid why the hell would I know that ? "

another shrill shriek came out of the vat causing Hagrid to bellow " little bags of trouble aren't they? "

one month ago hagrids hut

" shrieeeeeeeeeekk"

tentacles wrapped around hagrid's hands reaching upto his elbow . the creature swirled around it's maw the size of a watermelon showing rows upon rows of sharp teeth barking towards Hagrid .

Hagrid plunged that thing straight into solid ground bashing it's head in multiple times with no results .

I looked at this sight with wide eyes and replied . " Hagrid , what in the world - no forget about that why ? just why ??"

Hagrid looked up and gave me teethy smile and replied : " this little baby right here is called ________. in elder runes it literally translates to ' creature that should not be named . pretty cool right ?"

I looked at him unblinkingly and asked :" but why"

Hagrid laughed at that. suddenly his eyes widened as all the tentacles started shaking violently almost letting it slip out of his hands . suddenly he bashed that things head into the ground so hard the entire hut shook.

he looked up gave a slight chuckle replied : " problematic little gnats aren't they. "

I knew from the books that Hagrid had a wierd fetish for dangerous magical creatures , but the books had waaay downplayed it's intensity .

Hagrid was my first friend in the entire magical world , so I had made it a habit of visiting him at least once a week to chat and check up on him . those visits had made it certain to me , that Hagrid was certifiably insane .

he had absolutely zero regards for personal safety or law and order and imported creatures , like norbert over here , to an institution with young impulsive teenagers . Hagrid was lucky that Dumbledore was here to export back whatever bullshit monsters he brought in.

I looked at the half giant who was coddling the fricking dragon which had almost blown us all up and sighed . I knew from cannon that Dumbledore would not help him with this one . It was upto the golden trio to help him , but unfortunately there was a miniscule issue , the golden trio never befriended Hagrid in this reality .

Hagrid was friends with cannon Harry and thus had befriended the golden trio.

but since Harry wasn't part of the trio he had never had much contact with them , that meant one thing . I sighed .

I had to help him .

in a normal scenario I would never ever do this . I had just completed my backup plans , which means I had to lay Low , kick back and relax and not tempt fate . but Hagrid was a friend . these where the times I wished I was actually a murder - hobo - do - whatever -it - takes isekai protagonist

but I wasn't . " sigh "

but first I had to convince Hagrid to part with the dragon . I looked at the half giant , scratching the black lizards tummy like a kitten , cooing at it and sighed . this is gonna be a pain .

the baby dragon finally grew tired and fell asleep in the half giants lap . Hagrid carefully laid the dragon down and woke up , he then looked at me and smiled : " thanks a bunch Harry , lord knows how much he'd have destroyed if you hadn't come at time . I dont need another nagging letter from dumbledore , complaining about " safety regulations ""

I looked at the smiling half giant with a frown , he was completely oblivious to everything that had happened . Hagrid had no plans of parting with the dragon , but norbert had to go . even if Hagrid didn't like it !

i finally replied to him with a severe tone : " Hagrid do you realize that , if that dragon flame had escaped his mouth it would have destroyed this entire hut with us in it Hagrid chuckled and replied playfully : " well , good thing I stopped it before that happened . eh ? "

I looked at him with a deadpan frown decorating my face : " no , no no no . Hagrid do you have any idea what that is . it's a fricking dragon . do you have even the slightest idea what would happen if someone knows about this ? you could end up in Azkaban Hagrid . "

" urgghh " Hagrid groaned like an annoyed , middle schooler being told off by his mom . : " it will be fine Harry , norbert will stay in my hut . no one will know ."

I blinked at him and replied incredulously : " it's a ' dragon ' Hagrid . people will know . even Dumbledore can't protect you from this . if ministry gets wind of this Dumbledore will be forced to fire you without getting a say in this matter . "

finally Hagrid started looking uncomfortable . I smiled inwardly . I was finally getting through to him .

I didn't stop and continued " not to mention how it will affect Dumbledore , he has protected you from many cases of imported creatures before and he could get in trouble if this gets out . " Hagrid looked at me and frowned . I continued in a grave tone : " worst case scenario , he could be declared unfit run hogwarts , he could lose his position as headmaster

of course i knew that will never happen . Dumbledore's influence in the ministry was too strong for a simple dragon to bring him down . but Hagrid didn't know that and just as I had expected , his inner loyalty rose up , defending the man whom he considered his saviour .

" they can't do that . Dumbledore is-he is- they can't do that. "Hagrid said his tone on the verge of panic .

my inner smile grew wider now all I needed was one final push . I continued : " I haven't even told you the worst part yet Hagrid norbert is brought here against safety regulations , and into an institution with children , they will execute him ."

Hagrid finally burst out : " they'll what ???"

I looked at the dragon solemnly , this time I wasn't bullshitting , the gryffin that had barely scratched Malfoy was executed , and it was brought under legal premises , imagine what will happen to a dragon brought under illegal ones . the potterverse was really unkind towards it's magical creatures !

" but - but they can't do that . norbert hasn't hurt a soul . " Hagrid continued incredulously one hand laid protectively on the sleeping dargonling .

" but they will Hagrid . that's how magical law works . " I replied sympathetically . Hagrid looked crestfallen and looked at the sleeping baby dragon wistfully . " I'll give you some time to think Hagrid . think about what's best for norbert . that's all I'm asking . " I finally said .

Hagrid nodded crestfallen and downcast . I sighed and left the hut , back to the hogwarts castles . what a shitty day !
