Synopsis

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling does.... The Boy Who Lived won, but at what cost? He decides to do whatever he must to fix it, even if it's breaking one of the most strictest laws. Don't fiddle with time.

Chapter 1Prologue

There he was, an old man at the age of 80. Alone in a room filled with symbols, ingredients and books scattered about. He wasn't The Boy Who Lived anymore, but rather The One Who Lived.

The battle with Voldemort was intense and it didn't end well. During their fight, bursts of magical energy shot out in waves from the constant spell collisions. At the time, he didn't know what they did, but soon he would find out.

He finally defeated He Who Must Not Be Named and breathed out a sigh of relief. That relief didn't last, as he went back to the grounds to search for his loved ones. What he found, broke him…. piece by piece. Ron, Hermione and all of his other friends, lying there dead all across the grounds of Hogwarts.

He searched and searched for her, but couldn't find her. After several hours and almost giving up he finally found her, or rather found her body. There she was lying on the ground with her eyes shut. He screamed out "Wake up Ginny!" hoping she was just asleep, but Ginny never opened her eyes ever again.

Over time he discovered that people all across Europe died that night, there wasn't a soul saved from the energy bursts. He was broken after that incident and he seemed to be caged in the throes of depression.

This lasted for many years, but finally after more than ten years he found something. He took to reading to try to ease his suffering by remembering the days Hermione would go on and on about books. He practiced many things to keep his mind busy and busy it was, until his mind stopped at a set of notes he chanced upon.

The notes were on a experiment performed in 1899 by one Eloise Mintumble, from the Department of Mysteries. She was performing an experiment on time travel and it was a partial success. It was said she went back in time to the year 1402, in which she was stuck for five days. Upon retrieval of Eloise, she aged five centuries. Later she died in St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.

This seemed like the best chance Harry would get. This was his hope to set everything right and nothing would stop him from grasping it.

Harry spent the next 50 years researching the steps they took to complete the experiment. During that time he spent time tweaking the spell formula and ingredient amounts over and over again. He was aiming for a specific time, so things needed to be changed.

When he was finally done, he had a very complicated array of symbols and and catalysts set up in a hovel, no one could find. With the amount of time he spent on this, he was almost completely certain he wouldn't be able to make such a thing again. Then again, he only needs to do it once. He will go back and kill He Who Who Must Not Be Named, before he could change. To the time when he was known as Tom Riddle.

Harry activates the circle filled with magical symbols and catalysts. The symbols glow and the catalysts start to burn up and Harry hopes this works. After a short time, a massive amount of light is produced and when it dies Harry is nowhere to be found.

Harry opens his eyes after the flash of light and find himself in a forest in the middle of nowhere. Harry succeeded, he leapt through time and now it was time to stop the monster from causing harm. Harry gets a fix on Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and then apperates near there.

Harry poofs out of existence, but poofs back in just a few meters away. Pain courses through his pain, especially in his heart. Harry clutches the area above his heart and screams out "No!" while shaking. Slowly, heat starts building up from Harry's body. It gets so hot a light starts to emit from his body.

Screaming out in pain as the heat and light escalate, before his screams are suddenly silenced. The silence is short lived, as a deafening boom resounds through the area. Harry's body reached the critical point and exploded in a burst of magical energy. This explosion leveled the entire forest Harry was in and left the entire area barren.

The dust and debris clear to reveal the area Harry once occupied, but this incident did not go unnoticed. The Ministry of Magic came and performed a preliminary investigation, but could not determine the cause of the explosion. All they knew was that it was caused by very powerful and obviously dangerous magic. They marked it as a place to be studied, to hopefully one day, learn what occured here.

Many, many years later, a prophecy was made. One part of the prophecy got heard by one Severus Snape. He one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... Severus ran to his master He Who Must Not Be Named and informed him of the prophecy.

Lord Voldemort set out on a hunt for possible candidates, which eventually bore fruit. There were two that fit the description, the Potters and the Longbottoms. He sent four of his Death Eaters to dispose of the Longbottoms, while he took the pleasure of killing the Potters. Lord Voldemort chose to personally kill the Potters, because of the Mudblood. Oh how he despised them, daring to think they could steal the magic of True Wizards.

He searched and searched for where they might be, but came up empty for a long time. Until one cowardly little rat came to him and told him of their location. As it turns out their residence was shrouded with a Fidelius Charm, which explains why he could never find them. He was pleased, but did not put much faith in the words of a Wizard whose Animagus is a rat. They say that your Animagus form reflects who you really are.

He invoked the Cruciatus Curse and tortured the rat for hours before being satisfied with his word. The Potters took refuge in a cottage, located in Godric's Hollow. He made his way through the woods until he came up to a gate. Once there he opened the gate and blew up the door leading to the house.

Inside the Potters hugged their son goodbye and turned to defend their son with their very lives. A fierce fight would've broke out, but was stopped by Lord Voldemort pointing at Lily and shouting out "Avada Kedavra!"

James watched in horror as the green light made its way to his wife and screamed "No!" as he tried to jump in the way. Everything started to slow down and just when everything seemed lost, something odd appeared before them.

A light appeared, something within pushed Lily and James out of the way while taking the brunt of the Killing Curse upon itself. Lord Voldemort looked shocked for a moment and the Potter family looked on. They looked on in horror as the light dims quite a bit, but then it stops. Finally the green light shot back out.

It returns back to the one who cast it and ends the life of Lord Voldemort. Just when they were about to breathe a sigh of relief, they see a dark shadow move to their son. It enters their son and carves a lightning bolt on his forehead causing him to cry out in pain.

They got up to help their son, but the light pushes past them to get to him first. They were very worried for what it would do to their child. The light made contact with Harry and as it did, he seemed almost peaceful. Soon after the two of them touched, the light started to rapidly disappear into the scar.

After some time of examining their son, they breathed a sigh of relief. They knew that they had to protect him at all costs, even if that meant leaving him. They left a note stating in no uncertain terms, that Harry is not to be left to his sister's family. Instead Harry should go to Lily's Cousins in Cokeworth.

After writing the details of the who and where, they began a rather tedious process.
