83 A Letter To Gregorovitch

This meant that if the course of history repeated itself, the current Slumbering Mages were Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, Gellert Grindelwald and Mykew Gregorovitch in the same generation.

While the next generation had himself, Tom Riddle and as of yet unknown person as the other three Slumbering Mages.

Dumbledore and Grindelwald had already gone through all their seven magical maturities and had a better chance of fully awakening their reserves and forming a connection with two elder gods.

Compared to them, Mykew Gregorovitch at a glance seems to be on the losing end of the spectrum.

However, as he recalled his first and only correspondence by written word with Gregorovitch, Harry wondered if he could help the other person in some way without coming across as a lunatic who was trying to achieve something impossible for his age even though he himself was a Slumbering Mage.

He spent the entire night thinking and discarding plans and never once realised that he could ask for help from Death or Morpheus in this matter.

The following morning, he was up at dawn and decided to pen down a letter to Gregorovitch but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't seem to pen down his words in a way that didn't come off as conceited or someone who was acting too big for his breeches.

When Tom woke up and saw the pile of scrunched up parchments near Black's writing table, he wondered what could have caused the eloquent speaker and wrister to be short of words.

He had the urge to open and see if it was related to the homework given to them by Professor Merrythought during the last Battle Tactics and Battle Magic.

Before he could go and take a peek, the parchment burst and turned to ash. When he turned around, he saw that Heir Black was standing behind him with a raised wand pointed in the direction of his writing-table.

No remorse or embarrassment could be seen on either of their faces because it was the Slytherin Creed to hide one's shortcomings and secrets and if one was negligent enough to let someone else have a grasp over them, it was their own fault and they couldn't find fault with the other person.

Therefore, both of them gave each other a tight-lipped smile and continued on with their own things.

--------Line Break--------

Nobody knew how or what had prompted the Dementors to return to their guarding positions around the various prisoners around the world.

However, the newspapers screamed the good news and most people heaved a sigh of relief knowing that the dark creatures hadn't joined Grindelwald.

Similarly, all magical creatures felt things return to normal and nobody dared to question the abrupt U-Turn, instinctively knowing that they had dodged the proverbial bullet somehow.

Whenever Harry heard other students talking about it, he couldn't help but shake his head.

"Talk about jumping the hun and creating troubles for yourself."

Tom raised a questioning eyebrow at that, "What do you keep muttering about these past few days? Somebody piss you off?"

Harry was drafted out of his thoughts and quickly shook his head in the negative like a rattle drum.

When he saw the amusement in Riddle's eyes, he couldn't bring himself to say a scathing comment to the other boy and simply sighed.

These days, Harry didn't have the mood to talk or even think about inconsequential things.

His mind was swirling with thoughts of how to proceed forward in regards to Gregorovitch.

When his worry started affecting his performance in class as well, he finally penned a letter to the said person.

Lord Mykew Gregorovitch,

Greetings!

Mat Lady Magic always bring good tidings for you and yours.

This is Heir Hadrian Phineas Black - Heir to The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black.

We briefly met during the Summer Solstice celebration organised by the  International Confederation of Wizards in Paris in 1941.

We struck a conversation and I have to say that the few minutes I spent talking to you were most enlightening and informative.

More importantly, it was nice to see an adult not treating me as a child and interacting with a one-year-old child as an equal.

Due to the time constraints, we couldn't spend much time together and later on, you sent me correspondence through Heir Abraxas Septimus Malfoy - Heir to The Noble and Most Ancient House of Malfoy.

I am ashamed to say that I didn't keep up with the correspondence because I had just started my first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

It seemed that the fascination of starting my formal education and being away from under the nose of my strict family made me lose touch with you and others.

I have realised that was remiss of me.

I know that you must be dealing with many letters and requests - both formal and informal from many people due to taking up the position as the Head of your house and also due to your rising fame as a Wandmaker and being one of the foremost experts in Wandlore.

I hope you will forgive me for my incidental neglect and one again start correspondence with me.

Enclosed within is the famous Black Star of The House of Black which has been sought after by many people ask throughout the last five generations.

Please take it as a gift from someone who admires and respects you greatly.

Awaiting your response,

A future friend,

Heir Hadrian Phineas Black.
