Wands and Windows!

{Potter Manor, Unplottable}

{12:23 P.M, 1 August 1991}

Alex never liked going to the hospital, he always thought it was because of the nauseating smell that each corner of the hospital was laced with, but right now he realized that it was always because of the anxiety that bubbled.

Being strapped down to the sofa and watching a glowing stick dance around in the air above you wasn't really calming. If you add to that the silence that hung in the room, even little Rose was biting onto Lily's dress who was focused on Dumbledore's expression.

Or maybe it was because the final verdict on his mark was in the hands of Dumbledore. One of the most influential characters in Potterverse, not only because of his magic but because of his conflicting decisions. Was he a secret mastermind behind the whole war, or a genuine old genius who plotted enough that a 17-year-old defeated the greatest Dark Lord to ever live with an Expelliarmus?

Alex was ashamed to admit that he had read enough fanfiction that his understanding of Dumbledore's character was filled with a multicolored brush.

"Interesting..." Dumbledore muttered and for the umpteenth time, Alex and the rest of the gang suppressed the urge to knock the old bastard out.

"Oh, will you tell us, Albus," Prof. Minerva spoke, her temper was shorter than the rest of us.

Albus gave everyone a sheepish smile as he spoke, "Nothing, I could find no hint of damage that is left behind, I can't see any reason why Alex cannot get a wand with Harry later today."

"Yay!" Everyone smiled as Rose cheered, Alex was relieved as he took a deep breath. He wasn't even sure how he got here, to be stuck in a defective body while everyone else was able to use magic would have been torture.

'Not in Hell, Check.' Alex thought as he stood back up, his hand rubbed the mark on his forehead so he asked Dumbledore.

"Prof. what about this mark?" Alex asked, at his question, Dumbledore turned to look at him, an unreadable emotion in his eyes as he spoke.

"That's why I said interesting, Harry has a similar mark. We always speculated that it was because of the protection ritual that your grandmother did, but I can't find any hints of dark magic in it, that were there before." Albus spoke, he muttered, "I wonder if it was because Harry grew up in a mana-rich environment, and because of that his mark never faded, and because you were in mana less environment for so long that your mark naturally faded."

Alex could see his brain working on several theories but for now, he was satisfied with his result. As long as his mark wasn't a Horcrux he was okay with this start.

"Since there is no Dark Magic in there, you can heal this can't you?" Alex asked, everyone turned to look at Lily who nodded and took a step forward.

'Wait what? She's a mediwitch?' Alex asked, even though he knew that this timeline was a little different, he didn't realize that things could be this different.

Lily's wand shook for a moment as she aimed her wand at Alex, her movements didn't fill him with confidence but she gracefully waved her wand and drew an '8' in the air, "Therapévo!"

Alex felt a warm light hit him as his whole scar itched, the wide smile Lily had was his notice that the scar was healing. He lay there for around 20 seconds and after that, the itching stopped. Lily withdrew her wand.

There was a proud smile on James' face as he hugged Lily's shoulders, she had started her training with the idea of one day healing Harry's mark, so to be able to heal the same mark on Alex's head was monumental for her. Alex was pretty sure there was a story there but now was not the time to talk about these things.

He was ready for his new wand. Yes, please. Thank you.

{Ollivanders, Diagon Alley}

{12:43 P.M, 1 August 1991}

Alex and Harry were the first ones to enter the shop. The shop was dominated by a brown-colored theme, that extended to the dust that flew from the carpet as both of them walked in. Behind them, the rest of the gang entered minus Minerva and Albus.

The two of them cited their various responsibilities and allowed this private affair to remain so. Harry and Alex were both pretty excited but only one of them was ready for the jumpscare.

"What do we have here?" an aged voice came from behind them.

Harry jumped a little but Alex easily held his nerve, even though he was not aware of where Ollivander would jump from he was easily able to maintain his footing.

[Garrick Ollivander Lv 41]

Alex disproved several theories just by looking at Garrick Ollivander's name. For those who claimed that he was some R.O.B., his 41 levels would like to deny that request. Nor was he some omnipotent being.

If someone said that Ollivander looked like an overgrown house elf, then Alex would deduct some points for not describing the part of similarity and for being overdramatic. He was a gaunt-looking old man, with dead white hair framing his skeleton-like face. His eyes did appear several times larger than normal but nothing to the extent of being labeled a house-elf.

"Alex and Harry Potter, oh how marvelous. I was expecting you to be here, but you two are eager aren't you." Garrick spoke as he walked forward, his robes dusted the floor unconsciously as he walked to his desk.

Garrick's eyes roamed across the boxes trying to see which wand would match the aura that his two new costumes had. He suppressed a shudder as he looked at Harry, that aura was too similar to another kid that passed through the shop years ago.

"Let's see..." Garrick muttered as he walked past his desk. As soon as that happened the tape ruler that was sitting on his desk flew up and started measuring innane dimensions across the two twins.

"Huh, that's interesting" Alex muttered, he knew that it was going to happen but the small tape measure was really rebilious. It started out okay, arm length and palm length made sense since he was going to hold the wand with his dominant arm.

He could even decide to measure the length of his shoulders. It started getting ridiculous from them, the first one was the length of his external ear, followed by the distance between his eyes, then eyebrows.

After a bit he shrugged and let it do its thing, to watch the magic in action was interesting as well, as soon as he stopped resisting the damn tape measure flew away and started badgering Harry.

Garrick watched in interest as Alex's aura stopped shifting, he was hoping to get more info from the emotions that Alex displayed not only were the fluctuations very muted but he also accepted the disruptions very quickly.

'Alright, a test wand will have to do,' Garrick thought. The whole purpose of the tape measure was to annoy the kids, normally their emotions fluctuated when they got annoyed allowing Garrick to get a better understanding of their aura and what wand would suit them.

He looked through his most durable wands from the Phoenix collection, an 11 and 3/4-inch wand. Made out of Yew and a phoenix feather. Since they were twins their preferences should be the same right?

"Here you go, Mr. Potter. An 11 and 3/4-inch wand, made out of Yew with a Phoenix feather as the core." Garrick spoke as he carefully extended the wand toward Alex.

Alex nodded and with an excited expression he reached forward to grab the wand. Lily and James had surprised expression as the wand glowed and a couple of colorful shower sparks flew from the tip.

'First try?' Garrick, Lily, and James thought the same thing with a surprised expression as they looked at Alex who was staring at thin air in a daze.

Several things happened as soon as Alex touched the wand. The feeling of being aware of his own mana returned as he could feel the warm energy running through his body. It was like blood vessels and nerve bundles growing throughout his body. Each of these tiny lines, which he was going to call 'Mana Veins', met each other and merged with bigger Mana Veins that were responsible for transporting mana.

The bigger Mana Veins were attached to a glowing ball of energy somewhere in his abdomen. That was not the main reason for his dazed expression. Several windows or screens appeared in front of him as soon he touched the wand.
