Chapter 11: 2 Month Timeskip And Halloween!

Time flew by, it's been almost two months since Draco first came to Hogwarts.

Today Draco was very excited. You could even say he's happy, if you look at his face, you'd be able to tell since the corners of his mouth are raised.

"You've just got a license, why are you so happy?" Pansy asked while cutting a smoked fish using her fork.

"This isn't just a license. It represents knowledge, wisdom, and power!" Draco who would normally be very calm, for once spoke loudly.

"Then I think you'd have done better being sorted there." Pansy pointed to the Ravenclaw table.

Due to the excellent performance in his subjects, Draco finally got the right to borrow books from the library without needing to ask Madam Pince.

Some books contain powerful dark magic that had never been taught at Hogwarts. These books are only available to students who have high grades in DADA. If the student wished to borrow one of these books from the restricted section, they needed a teacher's signature and express permission for only that book.

For the current him, the range of books that he can borrow had once again increased, except for some isolated books or some deemed too dangerous, he can borrow most of the books in the restricted section.

"It seems won't be able to concentrate in class today." Seeing Draco's excited face, Pansy complained, she apparently felt very dissatisfied with him.

"I didn't see you so happy when you were with me." Pansy was holding a grudge apparently.

"You're right, anyway, let's go to class." Draco tried to calm himself down and walked to class.

However, it was clear that Draco was a little absentminded in class today.

The last class in the afternoon was Herbology, and Draco rushed to the library right after class.

"I don't know if Sorting Hat is faulty or something." A group of Ravenclaw students whispered. "He is clearly suited for Ravenclaw. If he were in our house, this year's house cup would've been ours." Obviously this news has spread to several houses.

"What's up, what are you thinking about?" Ron asked Harry in the Gryffindor's common room.

"I think we should think about how to apologize to Hermione." Harry shifted the subject.

"Apologize? Wingardium Leviosa!" Ron suddenly shouted. "Did you see the look in her eye? We're probably mentally retarded in her eyes since we don't know as much as she does."

"Ron, enough, you know she isn't like that." Harry interrupted Ron. "You've probably seen her crying too."

"What about that?" Ron's looked was a little uneasy. Obviously, making a girl cry was not something to be proud of in any situation.

"We will apologize to her at the Halloween banquet. I know you didn't mean what you said," Harry said.

"I'll do it, I'll apologize," Ron responded.

Draco was currently looking through the books in the restricted section.

Hogwarts had been around for so long that some parts of the bookshelves had begun to decay, giving off the smell of rotten wood. Some books had already become covered with dust.

Draco was currently looking for what he needed. He was moving constantly, his feet were shifting and so was his line of sight as he kept of checking the books.

He suddenly stopped and stood in front of one of the oldest bookshelves.

"You're the one." Draco pulled out the book, the book looked really old and worn with a thick layer of dust on it, making it hard to see the title clearly.

"Scourgify!" Draco cleaned it using magic.

The book looked cleaner, the title was still blurry but could be made out slightly now that the dust that had been obscuring it had been wiped away.

"It's enough though," Draco thought.

"Right, it looks like I have to get back soon, today's dinner seems to be important." Draco didn't care much about these activities, but today everyone seemed to be a little excited. Both the teachers and the students were talking about it enthusiastically. Pansy seemed to also hint this a few times to him in the morning. Asking which flavored pumpkin candy he likes and the like.

"Halloween!" Draco seemed to think of something suddenly.

"It seems to be a key part of the plot, the Troll!"

Draco who was thinking, suddenly felt his back making contact with something.

"I'm sorry." A familiar female voice came from behind him.

"Isn't this today's protagonist?" Draco looked back at the unkempt curled that was in his line of sight. Who could it be apart from Hermione? Her eyes were a little red though, it looked like she'd just cried.

"Ah, it's you, Hermione. It seems that you aren't well today, why are you upset?" Draco asked her, though he already knew the answer.

In the past, Draco had heard of a theory that some people tend to be strong in front of familiar people, and in front of unfamiliar people, they remove their facade. It seemed to have been proven true today.

Hermione's eyes suddenly became misty, as she said, "They all said that I'm a teacher's pet. In Charms, Ron also said I was a know-it-all. I just wanted to remind him that he wasn't doing his spells correctly. Why did he call me that?" Hermione suddenly exclaimed.

"Students from your house have been calling me mudblood as well!"

"Do you see me as a joke now? The only reason I could be proud in front of you is now gone!"

Draco was stunned since he thought they were only acquaintances. Hermione's current weak front made him feel bad. So he wanted to comfort and cheer her up.

"cough cough." Draco coughed.

"So as Slytherin's student of the year, I think I can apologize to you on behalf of my fellow Slytherins," Draco said.

"Then, I want to express my apologies. I'll make it up to you, how about we go to Hogsmeade and get some sweets? After all, today is Halloween."

Hermione felt sluggish, apparently, she had just vented all the feeling she had bottled up, she just wanted to drive him away and calm herself down. She didn't expect him to apologize to her, not only on behalf of the other students in Slytherin but also from himself.

"Aren't you angry?" Hermione's voice suddenly weakened.

"I think since a Gryffindor has the courage to apologize and confront a Slytherin, then I should at least be able to do the same right?" Draco asked.

Hermione was silent for a while and suddenly whispered: "Hogsmeade can only go on Saturday, and the permission of Third Year and the teacher."

"There are only a few places in the World that you should avoid."

"A Gryffindor's courage should also include breaking the rules."

"So maybe you can break the rules right?"

"Come with me." Say Draco lifted his feet and left.

Hermione seemed to have made up her mind, as she quickly followed Draco.

Gryffindor's students are born without considering risks and risk factors after all, aren't they?
