15 Cat Time

(Minerva McGonagall P.O.V)

I follow the Potter twins and their friend from Mrs. Figg's house. Honestly, how can she not realize that the two under the sheets are the twins she babysits. The whole reason she lives in this area in the first place!

I shake my head at the absurdity of it, keeping half an eye on them as they make their way from house to house.

I can feel my ear twitch as I observe them collecting candy from strangers, completely unaware of what they might have done to it before it was given to them!

Complacency of sugary treats aside, I nearly lose one of my cat lives when I see a vampire variation on the streets.

There are two types of vampires. The traditional ones who look human and survive by drinking blood, and the kind here. This kind are known as minion vampires, and are generally seen as lesser by traditional vampires due to having the form of a giant bat. Unlike traditional vampires though, they do not need to drink blood, and they can stand the touch of the sun.

Like their name, they typically serve a master, not unlike house elves. There are some that stay unbound though, but still. I think that I will inform Albus about one being spotted near the Potters. We can never be too careful with the threat of dark wizards.

I nearly lose a life again seeing Misha Potter try to grab their wing. To minion vampires, that is equivalent to declaring your intention to fight!

Luckily this one seems to have a good sense of what is going on around them and retracts their wing, dodging her hand. My panic comes back when I see them about to take flight, so I quickly transform back to my human form and cast a simple disillusionment to obscure them from sight. I breathe a sigh of relief when nobody notices and I quickly morph back into a cat.

A few people look confused due to my sudden appearance and disappearance, but it was far less noticeable than a giant bat flying through the sky.

I turn my attention back to the Potters and continue to follow them. As I do, I notice several others doing the same, though their focus seems to be on the girl with them.

I can feel my curiosity peak, but I cannot devote attention to every muggle that catches my interest. Considering that she seems to be friends with the Potters though, maybe I should look into her...

Ahead of me I see a group of boys confronting them. They seem displeased with the muggle girl, but don't seem likely to turn to violence.

I sigh. (Not that I'm allowed to interfere if it does though. Honestly, what was Albus thinking when he decided to isolate the twins from the magical world? Considering how important Harry is one would thi-.)

My thoughts are interrupted when I sense a powerful magic come from the Potters' friend.

(Well, I suppose she's not a muggle. Considering the amount of magic she just used, I should expect her name to appear in the Book of Admittance.)

The magic doesn't appear to be affecting anything nearby, but I resolve to have someone investigate what happens. Before it vanishes completely though, something strange occurs.

Misha Potter steps up to the boy dressed as a rat and speaks. I'm not close enough to hear what she says, but I can clearly sense her magic latch on to her friends'. I am unable to to tell what it does though, as it vanishes moments later.

I'm shocked. I've never heard of an occurrence such as this happening before. Though it seems to be emotional casting, so it seems unlikely that it has never occurred before. I shall ask Albus about it when I make my report.

Nothing else of note occurs during the night, they approach a few more houses, then return to the Dursleys.

Seeing them return home, I sigh in relief and leave. This is my last time monitoring them before they are enrolled at Hogwarts, others will observe them in the meantime.

I look forward to what they will achieve when they are enrolled. I just hope they take after their mother rather than their father...
