25 That time the last hero was born

The ground trembled from a strong earthquake.

The surrounding buildings and small houses began to collapse one after another, debris of various sizes fell sending the party into a state of disarray as they rushed to exit the battlefield.

Fortunately, they were able to successfully avoid the disaster without any casualties making everyone let out big sighs of reliefs.

But just as they grow a bit complacent and as if fate is playing a prank on them the ground they were occupying began to tremble this one much stronger than before.

They once again sprung to their feet's quickly vacating from spot and just as they were able to distance themselves their instincts began alarming madly, danger something that usually comes when they were facing a compelling monster or when they're put in a very dire situation.

"Here it comes…"

Voice out by Kai as if announcing the forthcoming of an unavoidable disaster.

The three gods besides him could only watch with bated breaths and clenched fist as the ground the party once occupied completely collapsed and what followed was a literal sea of plant monsters springboarding themselves out of the ground attacking the still in disarray party.

The immense number of monsters numbering in thousands emerged from the ground with only one goal in mind and that is to wipe out the prey presented before them.

Caught off guard by the sudden attack the party was unable to respond.

Ryuu, Kaguya, Alise and the others who were once at the front of the battle were wide open for attacks.

The three gods couldn't help but bite their lips blood trailing their jaws, already envisioning the result that would befall to their children.

They tried resisting cutting the few that came for them but the continuous attack of more than a hundred of monsters assaulting them is too much.

Ryuu swung her weapon struggling against the hundreds or so monsters trying to devour her.

High-speed sword barrage.

But just as she was about to swing her sword in a slightly different looking plant monster it was deflected, the toughest of its skin is on a whole new different level, and she could feel a strong knockback force making her lost balance and this was accompanied by a strong paralysis effect making her stop all actions completely.

Moreover, her beloved weapon escapes her grasp she tried to reach for it but the strong paralysis effect running through her body wouldn't allow her.

The unique crimson plant like monster's tough skin possessing a strong knockback and paralysis properties was all it took to end the journey of a promising genius.

"Knockback and paralysis. Zero distance, I can't move…"

Ryuu knowing her inevitable fate, couldn't help but just close her eyes waiting for the pain to come from being ripped to pieces by more than a hundred monsters.

She could hear her companions from the back screaming her name the Pallum that she rescued just moments ago crying for her sake.

Her vision changed life flashing before her eyes.

The sight of a certain short blue-haired friend of hers that died a few months ago trying to fight for what she believed is right.

Alfia the mother of the young boy she took interest in, her last words before she died echoing through her mind.

{ Don't you ever forget the way I look right now. }

{ This is what you all might look like one day, when the time comes… Like the time we got defeated by the one eyed black dragon. }

"I guess in the end, she's still right."

Then the sight of a certain white haired little boy she had grown an interest to, in these few days overlapping with the image of Alfia the guilt of causing his mother's death at a young age making her heart hurt like it was being shredded into pieces.

{ Justice is fragile and vulnerable. }

{ However- }

{ Even if it all burned into ashes… the trails you left shall always remain as something meaningful. }

She couldn't help but shed a tear for being unable to live long and live life to the fullest.

{ If justice comes around… let hopes be linked. }

Alfia's words continue to ring in her mind.

Time seemed to halt for Ryuu.

Out of nowhere, appearing just right in front of her is the back of a familiar white haired boy this seemingly small back of his giving comfort, making her heart at ease.

{ It'll all be assembled… and one day, the last hero will be born. }

The boy raised his hand and before anyone could react, a very loud flicking sound echoed throughout the whole place, that simple flick carrying the authority and might of the young boy.

"No one is dying on my watch."

A few simple words that screamed of absolute authority.

Undeniable words that echoed throughout the ruined city.

And the next instant.

Countless translucent ethereal like multicolor chains [Infinity Chains Enkidu] sprung out of existence coming from these golden and green portals.

These chains enchanted by [Cardinal Acceleration] moving in an unprecedented speed hard to follow using one's eyes as it began to strangle all the monsters in sight completely restraining the monsters movements.

"…Kai…"

Ryuu called out the name of the boy.

He looked back and gave the elf a reassuring smile.

"I'm glad that you're well and fine, Ryuu-san."

"I wouldn't like to lose that cute face you always have every time your stoic expression crumbles."

The elf's utterly shocked expression after being saved just in the nick of time was replaced by a pure and innocent blush.

"That's more like it."

Said Kai giving the blushing Ryuu who seem to have lost her mind a kiss on the forehead.

Kai could hear gasps from the back after he gave Ryuu a kiss on the forehead which he utterly ignored.

"You did great for lasting this long.

"However…"

"I'll be taking things from here onwards."

Said Kai as his eyes turned vibrant blue mesmerizing the pure elf maiden making her heart beat faster.

Blood even escapes from her nose.
