Whirlwind of Ice & Blood

It's been roughly ten or fifteen minutes since Kai had left the carriage. Despite being tired from their activities throughout the day she couldn't fall asleep.

Something was gnawing at the back of her mind. While she had faith in Kai, she couldn't help but worry. After all, Kai had never shown that he had a class.

He did train in the sword and was fit but it's not like big muscles and a sword could stop a lightning lance. Without a class, he would at best be better than a normal classless.

Having had enough of the torment Leah put on some clothing and shakily rushed to the door.

Once she opened it she saw that the sun had disappeared and had been replaced by a luminous full moon.

Despite it being dark, even without her racial night vision ability, she'd be able to see clearly.

Seeing Leah step out of the carriage the white tigers surrounded the girl. The biggest of which stepped ahead of the others and tried to tell Leah to head back inside by gesturing with its head and giving off a quiet roar.

As if she understood exactly what the tiger tried to say Leah replied.

"I understand but I need to go see him, I'm worried. I heard him tell you to protect me and the carriage. So come with me because I'm going either way."

Leah was determined to see exactly what was going on. If Kai was in trouble then she would do whatever she could do to save him. She has already spent her whole life with him and she can't imagine it any other way.

Until recently she believed that at best she'd be like a sister to him and at worst just another servant. But now that he had reciprocated her feelings she was determined not to lose him at any cost.

Seeing Leah determined to go the leader tiger growled and lowered itself so Leah could hop on its back.

Leah jumped on the tiger's back and gripped its soft and sleek fur. It proceeded to stand up and started running in Kai's direction.

Kai wasn't far at all but even if she was to run at full speed it would take a minute or so for her to get there. And by then she would have been exhausted.

Luckily the white tigers were fast and not even 10 seconds went by as they arrived close enough to see Kai.

What Leah witnessed almost broke her fragile little heart. Kai was being restrained by something, forced to kneel in front of a man with green hair and an unbelievably white face.

If her focus weren't on Kai she would have thought about the strange man. Specifically his white face and how if not for his colourful hair he'd be able to lie down in the snow and be invisible.

In the next moment something wrapped around Kai's neck. She wasn't stupid and knew that Kai's time was running out.

She decided to beg the tiger to save Kai even though she was well aware that even if she didn't ask the tiger would do it.

"Please save him!" With that Leah jumped off the tiger but as the tiger was about to rush in to save its master something unexpected happened.

While it wasn't warm by any means, Leah was used to the cold. The Rose family prefered the cold and growing up she had become accustomed to it too.

Despite this, she felt as if she was going to freeze. The tiger wrapped itself around her, not daring to move forward and observed.

The roots that were holding firmly onto Kai's head, neck and arms slowly froze and turned into ice. In the next moment, they shattered as Kai's hair became icy blue and long just like his mother's.

There was no wind yet his hair fluttered wildly in the non-existent wind.

As he slowly stood up a whirlwind of ice, snow and blood started forming around him. As he rose so did it until he and the strange man were obscured from vision.

Leah's heart was beating hard, she had no clue what was happening but something deep down told her this was fine. Everything was going to be okay.

"W-what's going on?!" She spoke out loud, but didn't get an answer. The tiger growled and Leah understood that it had no clue either.

She then heard a voice. She could not understand what it said as it echoed and thundered. It was deep and ethereal almost demonic but cold at the same time.

"5&-+}`@}+`=+},[`*/$`&:}`:![/}`}/,`==+]`[/1*`5,#={#1'`&{#~`[/*`}2,/1~^?"

She didn't know if it was Kai or the man talking, or something or someone else but it wasn't important to her at this point.

"ARGH" She heard a loud scream. Fearing the worst she started walking toward Kai once again.

The red and white whirlwind started to slow down and lower itself revealing Kai. His hair had returned back to normal while his hand was deep inside Jarlan's chest.

She could see Kai sluggishly move his head as if he had just woken up. She could see the strange man move his mouth but couldn't make out what he was saying.

For some reason, she could have sworn that the man looked happy.

'Why does he look happy? Was this planned? What if he still has a way to turn this situation around?' She couldn't grasp why the man seemed to be happy but in the next moment, it no longer mattered.

The man turned into what looked like dust or dirt to Leah. As the man disappeared she could see Kai take in a deep breath and slick his hair back.

She could see that he also had said something but she didn't hear it. Even if she did it would have most likely fallen on deaf ears as her only concern now was Kai's health.

She could see the blood and bodies that surrounded him. Even if he was fine physically she was worried about his mental state. While Kai liked to get into fights and arguments he never took things too far.

She couldn't begin to imagine what Kai was going through right now in his head. If she could read Kai's mind she would become aware that he didn't feel much.

He was more concerned with the fact that maybe he is indeed a psychopath like he suspected in his previous life than if he was injured.

Although he had no reason to worry about his injuries, he had levelled up multiple times and each time his health would replenish.

Even so, if Leah had heard these thoughts she would have chastised Kai for not worrying about his health just because he levelled up and had full HP.

Seeing his muscles glisten in the moonlight and the calm but tired expression on his face. Leah couldn't stop herself and started running the rest of the distance toward Kai.

"Kai!" She was on the verge of tears but managed to hold them back.

Kai looked like a deer caught in the headlights. He walked towards Leah and away from the bodies with his mouth agape.

Leah had no clue what was going through his mind but she didn't care right now. She had to make sure he was okay.

When she was roughly 3 meters away from him she launched herself like a rocket into Kai, knocking them down onto the ground.
