The Childhood Promise (1)

Kai made his way through the palace towards his room.

It was now quite late so luckily for Kai he didn't meet anyone along the way to his room.

He opened the large doors that lead into his room and promptly shut them behind himself.

The room was decorated to his taste, in his previous life he was talented in art and design but did nothing with it.

So this time around he used it to have the room he wanted.

It was large and spacious with a tall ceiling.

The room was designed by him in a dark modern style.

It had dark grey walls and a ceiling, with dark wooden hardwood floors.

There was a desk similarly placed in front of large square window panes.

In the middle of the room were two large sofas with a minimalistic coffee table.

His bed was large and also had no frills. It fit the room's colour scheme and the bed sheets on it were a variety of lighter greys.

He made his way towards the bathroom that was off to the side and started to strip.

Kai was relieved that despite being a medieval fantasy world, they had modern amenities.

He could take a hot or cold shower in an instant or use the toilet without having to use some random hole.

Thanks to mana crystals containing Fire and Ice. Their mana can be used to heat and cool water that comes from a Water mana ice crystal.

A similar idea is used in the toilet where the Water mana is used in the toilet.

It of course wasn't as simple as putting a crystal in the pipes and calling it a day.

But Kai had no interest in learning all the little details that go into making it work.

All he cared about is not having the most important of modern pleasures.

He got into the shower and quickly washed.

He spent a fair amount of energy today trying his hardest to impress some god that might be watching. As they often do in these stories, with his extreme show of effort.

But as expected nothing happened.

Thanks to this, he had worked up quite a sweat.

Because of this, he made sure to put some extra effort into scrubbing himself clean.

He made his way out of the shower and grabbed a towel.

Kai brought the towel up to his head and dried his hair off first before the rest of his body.

He didn't bring a change of clothes so he wrapped the towel around his waist.

Before he left the bathroom he spotted his reflection in the mirror above the sink and stopped to turn and look at it.

He gazed at his reflection as it gazed back, he examined every inch of his face in detail. "Heh, I'm actually not that bad looking."

Even in his past life, Kai would from time to time comment on his appearance to himself.

He had confidence in his looks and knew he was good looking just didn't think he was anywhere near handsome.

At best Kai thought he had slightly above-average looks.

It's not that he put himself down, it's just that he didn't like to needlessly raise his ego.

He turned away from the mirror and went out of the bathroom.

He made his way towards a wall on the side of the room and pushed it gently.

The wall moved inside and something clicked turning lights on within a large walk-in closet.

On the left side, there was a large mirror while on the right there was a large array of clothing and the same could be said for the wall opposite the entrance.

In the middle was a rectangular seat.

As Kai walked inside, he heard a knock on the door.

Being sure of who it was, Kai called out "Come in"

He knew Leah well and she had seen him shirtless plenty of times so he didn't care if she saw him again as he picks out something to sleep in.

He heard the door opening but didn't turn around and decided to keep searching until she found him.

"Nyah?!" Kai heard Leah behind him and instantly started wondering what happened.

He turned around only to be delivered a serious blow.

He didn't think any more about what happened to Leah.

Right now his mind was racing a mile a minute as his heartbeat intensified and a slight tinge of anxiety appeared.

'W-what?' Was all Kai could think to himself right now.

In front of him, Leah was standing with her tail nervously lowered towards the ground as it hovered in front of her feet.

But she wasn't simply standing there in her maid uniform.

Currently, she was wearing dark grey, cute knee-high socks with triangular cat ear designs.

Her panties were similar in design with cute cat ears and thin straps that were tied on the side.

Her bra had a cat head design strategically cut out right where the cleavage was.

Around her neck was a black choker with a small silver bell on it.

The outfit left very little to the imagination and was more than enough to stun Kai who didn't expect it.

'I thought she wanted to talk about some promise I made her. Why would she be dressed like that?' Kai tried to analyze the situation.

But due to his poor memory when it came to things he didn't find important he couldn't remember the promise.

The two looked at each other for a moment with Leah being more reserved with her gaze before Kai broke the silence.

"Why are you dressed like that?" He thought it was the best question to ask at this moment. Odds are he would get the answer. He would most likely upset Leah but there was no way around it unless he remembers.

Leah frowned and began to look dejected. "Do you really not remember?"

Kai couldn't help but shake his head as he walked closer to her.

Leah continued to frown and even shut her eyes looking down.

She gathered up all her courage despite standing there half-naked for the first time in front of a man.

This man also happened to be half-naked which made her even more nervous.

She looked up at Kai and into his piercing cold blue eyes and opened her small mouth.
