Chapter 5

The soft stomping sounds could still be heard even after really far away from land. A while after,sound of distance storm could be heard from miles away. The environment was dark but there were no signs of clouds. This also reminded him of his uncle's home.

The boat ride was a load of powerful boredom to his mind. Anywhere he looked were nothing but the seeming endless ocean shrouded by fogs. The water color was that of aubergine juice. It appeared deep to the point of bottomless pit. There were no fishes to be found and no seagulls to be seen in sky. Times and times, up in the heavens, a sun was hiding beyond the fogs. As he look at the sun, the sun looked back at him. Does it had an eyes...no...is it in itself was an eye.

The boatman kept rowing. No words. No talks. No sounds. Facing toward only one direction to Easter Gloom. The previous thought of him thinking if the man was truly the ferryman of death haunted his mind. Was there a mishap of his trip from his home. Was he died along the way. Was the hare the premonition to his demise. He didn't know... for he had never been dared to ask.

He tried to distract these thoughts. He took out his smartphone. Since there were no internet, he decided to watch the videos he downloaded before the trip. In case of lost connection, he downloaded about 50 videos with each of the videos lasting at least 10 minutes in duration. The first video he clicked on was the video called "Facts of parallel universes".

The video had 22 minutes length. It was about the list for hypothetical theories about the various laws of parallel universes. The video was made by one of the most notorious channels known for their scummy contents. But during this situation, Mac would watch anything to kill time. And the fact he was entering the whole new world apart from his own, the idea of such phenomenons were not that far off.

Mid way point into the video, Mac saw an interesting thing that caught his attention. He was not that excited in the beginning since most of these listed concepts were already known by him. But this, this was quite new. It said that if the person were to meet his own parallel self, one of the two variants would be disappeared. This was called the "doppelganger effect". After this, the video went back into the same boring tone.

Mac exited from that video and tried ro find some other interesting videos. He found another video titled "Strange case in easter island". It was uploaded very recently. It was uploaded when he was about to leave one days ago. What was more interesting was the fact that it was uploaded by the news channel. When he was downloading, he didn't check which channel was which. He clicked on it immediately.

The news said the Easter island on May 28. This was a typical time in which the island has the least tourists by records. But this hear, it was the opposite... by very wide margin. It was crowded with more than eight hundred thousand people cramping all over the island. Mac sighed a big relief which he didn't go there by luck. But it was also extremely strange on why was this happening all of sudden. Was there any strange stuff happened there that caught attention to thousands of people. He didn't know.

Just when he turned his phone off, he started to saw the island in a distance.
