Chapter 3 - Circumstances of rebirth

After my mother brought to my room, she left me to bring my sister to her room, making sure to get the bodyguards to make sure she doesn't leave her room. But before she left she told me…

"Or, take out your language homework, I'll help you with it after taking your sister back to her rooms"

"But mom don't you have work to do"

"It's okay I can finish it later."

As I watch her leave with my sister, I close the door and head towards my desk. Taking out my homework I put it onto my table as I sit down in my seat and as I start to tackle the difficult parts that I was previously unable to do. As I start to think, my mind starts to wander back about my sister's awakening ceremony and what it spells to my future.

This world, unlike my previous world, was filled with magical creatures. One of the first things I had learned during class was a short history lesson that could be summed up in a short phrase: "the outside world is dangerous" as it was filled with demonic like creatures that's powers are unimaginable to Earth. Humans had been able to survive by taking care to avoid catching the unwanted attention of these beasts. Luckily but sadly, humans are seen as ants to these creatures and so there was no purpose for them to attack us other than for pure sport, which some occasionally did. As humans ran around, sneaking from one place to another, though death is a frequent thing, they had been able to rise in numbers and had hopes of a happy future. That was until they had met a certain race of creatures called the Spirits. Unlike the other creatures, they did kill humans and it was not out of spite or any need but out of pure pleasure. To the Spirts, humans were like a form of drug and they were the addicts. They searched and hunted for humans with no rest and as a result, the population of humans started to dwindle at a rapid rate. But when the humans had reached an all-time low and were in despair, an old man whose name had been lost in history came forward with a weapon to fight back and it was called Qi.

Qi was an energy source that brought out the inner beast of a person, both figuratively and literally. With it, people have been able to fight back not only against the Spirits but all manners of magical creatures. Humans were now on the attack as they pushed, they were able to create a safe haven and push back these creatures until they reached The Forest of Gehenna where creatures scarier than ever before lived which became the border of the Human races expedition. And so humans created a barricade in front of the forest and was able to block off the peninsula that humans now reside in from threats like the spirits. That barricade became the sign of humanity's hope and will to live, and so it was called the Golden Gate.

"Darn"(why couldn't I have been born to a more peaceful world one where humans aren't at the threat of extinction)

"Is the homework really that difficult for you"

"Huh"

Without me realizing, my mother had entered the room and now stand right behind me, peering over my head to look at my homework. She had come back after tucking in my overly excited sister.

"Come one, let's go through it together" she says, starting a short session of studying starts.
