The Morning After

The house seems quiet two days after my debut.

It's snowing so I'm here in on the veranda, Mnemosyne arrived yesterday so she's with my younger siblings who are on the open field playing in the snow.

The snow's too thick to the point that it reaches the first step of the stairs.

It made Freia so happy because she was able to play snowball fights with Autumn, Fuego, and Icey.

"Hey! Watch it!" I shouted when a snowball almost hit me

"It wasn't us!" Freia denied

"Then who?" I asked them and they pointed in one direction

"Kuya Jace did!" Autumn said and pointed to Jace who was busy making a snowball

I don't know how they managed to convince Jace to join them, but knowing Freia?

She used her charms and persuasion skills.

No one can resist her puppy eyes, after all.

I took the snow that resides on the railings of my veranda and made a snowball I threw it to Jace and hit him on the face. I ran back to my room and took my handheld camera.

I made sure I wore my jacket even though there was a heater in the mansion.

I went downstairs and I saw Nii-sama's serious face so I walked up to him and pinched his face.

"Ow!" he complained because I forced to make him smile

"Good morning, Nii-sama!" I greeted and released his face

"It's only 4 days until Christmas, Nii-sama. Smile, Santa won't come to you if you're like that," I told him, which made him shake his head before pulling out his phone

"Ms. Hesperides, updates on the construction." He said making me cross my arms and roll my eyes

Nii-sama is named Frostwind Snow and he doesn't know how to celebrate holidays.

He's taking his name far too literally as I did with mine.

"No Christmas breaks, what is this? A school?" he asked coldly making me chuckle

He's really strict when it comes to working.

All work, no vacation, he's such a workaholic.

Geez.

"That's too harsh, Snow-sama, let them enjoy Christmas," I said and snatched his phone from his hand

I look at the caller ID and I saw 'Starlight'.

Hmm… that reminds me of something.

"Ms. Hesperides, it's me, Flamelinne, let the workers work until lunch on December 24th then tell them to just come back on January second. Eight days of break would be enough, right?" I said the moment I placed the phone near my ear

[Yes, Ms. Flamelinne,] she replied

"Okay then. Enjoy your Christmas break too, Ms. Hesperides. Happy Holidays!" I said

[Happy holidays, Ms. Flamelinne,] she said, and then I ended the call

Starlight Hesperides is Ms. Hesperides, that's Nii-sama's secretary's full name.

"Enjoy holiday, Nii-sama." I told him and returned his phone

"Don't you have a school project, this is my Christmas?" he said with a raised brow

"That's why I have my camera. I'll be filming my Christmas." I said and waved the camera in my hand

"Don't worry about secrecy, it'll be just my Christmas routine," I said and tapped his shoulder

I walked past him and then I smirked when I saw that Mnemosyne was the only one playing with Jace so I opened my video camera and started taping myself.

"Hello, it's me, Valerie!" I said enthusiastically while the camera is facing me

"My usual routine would be traveling around the world, visiting my aunts, uncles, and every relative and close family friend we have. But of course during December nineteen, my birthday, I go home to celebrate my birthday with my older brother in our family house and play with Mnemosyne here in Japatrein." I said and shifted the camera to Jace and Mnemosyne

"But as you can see, my Mnemosyne has another playmate," I said making my voice sound sad then I turned to the camera back to my face

"But don't you worry, I enjoyed my debut two days ago," I said

I saw Jace stop and carried Mnemosyne and placed her near the camera.

"Dreice!" I grunted and pulled the camera away

"Are you sulking?" he asked and I rolled my eyes

"Nan demo," I said and turned my back

I pointed the video camera back to myself again and smiled.

"And there you have it, Jace Dreice Scott is here to tease me and he's the one playing with my pet tiger, but don't worry, I still have my other baby," I said and stopped filming

I went to our Mansion, the one behind the Hanazono Mansion, I went to the garden and there I saw him circling his cage and whimpering.

"Pan!" I said and he growled

I opened his cage and he jumped on me.

"I miss you, boy," I said and ruffled his thick fur.

I opened my video camera and began filming again.

"Let me introduce to you, Pan, my pet wolf," I said while smiling

"Yep, he's a legit wolf, not a dog but a wolf but no need to worry, he's tame and calm," I said and went near a table with food while holding Pan's collar

I placed the video cam on the table and began playing with Pan.

He's tamed and trained to follow me since I've been taking care of him ever since he was a pup.

His gray thick fur made him so fluffy, I remember that Freia mistaken Pan for a human-sized stuffed toy when she was six.

He suddenly growled so I looked behind me and I saw Jace carrying Mnemosyne.

"What are you doing here?" I asked him

"Mne wants to play." He said and lifted Mnemosyne

"I'm playing with Pan," I said and scratched Pan's head

"A wolf?" he asked I nodded

"Yeah, their wolf DNA came from him," I said and he placed Mnemosyne down.

Pan began sniffing Mnemosyne and a little later, Pan started licking Mnemosyne's head.

I saw Jace looking confused.

"He recognized the DNA on Mnemosyne, since it's his, he recognized her as his pup," I said and went to retrieve my video camera

I stopped filming and went back to where Jace is standing.

I held Pan's collar and lead him back to his cage.

"Carry Mnemosyne, I'll open the gifts now," I said while locking Pan's cage.

"See you in a while, Pan," I said and scratched his head

He was whimpering as I turn my back on him so I took a roasted chicken from the table. I threw it to him, which he caught and quickly devoured as we left.

We went back to the Hanazono Mansion and we went to the gift room that is on the first floor.

I started filming again as soon as we entered the room.

"So today, we'll be opening the gifts I received on my surprise debut 2 days ago. Honestly speaking, I didn't expect my little sisters and my best friends to prepare such a thing for me and even invite all of our closest family friends and relatives to attend it." I said while filming the stacks of gifts on the table

"Your party won't be made possible if Kuya Jace didn't help," Autumn said so I faced her and my camera pointed at her

"Oh, you're recording. Just like what Kuya Jace did at the surprise at the hotel." She said, to which, Jace nodded his head

I stopped filming and placed my camera on the table.

"Since Kuya Jace made it possible, open his gift first!" Freia said after appearing in the doorway.

"You should stop appearing out of nowhere, Freia." I reminded her
