Hanazono: Heiress

Lavalee Flamelinne Hanazono, the second born and heir to the large multi-trillion Hanazono Empire, is not your typical heiress. Beneath her often irritating and frowned-upon spoiled and brat-like appearance and ways, she carries a heavy burden and a scarred heart. No matter how free and how ideal her almost perfect life appears in front of everyone, from the moment she had stepped into the world, her arms and feet had been bounded by chains. These chains not only restrict her from stepping into the light by holding her back into the shadows, but it also wraps around her heart. An inescapable obligation passed down behind the curtains from generation to generation in their family, an obligation that robbed her, and her whole family, of the chance to make great childhood memories. She had learned to live in a way that she doesn't hurt herself with the chains she's bounded to but this is about to change. “What I am doesn’t define who I am.” May it be the will of fate or simply mere coincidence, she will cross paths with a person who is her complete opposite. Even though he is walking in the path she can never walk in, his and her life will soon be entangled in a knot that tightens the more they try to step away from each other. She whose hands are tainted with the blood of many people, she who wears a crown of authority, power, and responsibility, she who keeps a whole empire steady, and she who had her heart surrounded by metal to avoid getting swayed from her duties. He who belongs to the world that Lavalee wanted to return to but can’t, he who mandates the laws that her world breaks, and he who has the courage to open Lavalee’s heart again. “Who said it’s going to be easy?” Indeed, it won’t be easy.

First Warning

_08_ (Lavalee's POV)

"Anyo. geudeul-i balgyeondoemyeon yongseohasibsio. hyeongnim, dasineun ileon il-i il-eonaji anhgehagessseubnida." I said respectfully

The first law, or the most important law that every member of the underground must follow.

Association o forming any relation to the law without any reasons related to the safety of the underground, or the sworn secrecy regarding every member, ally or foe, and their family's identity.

"Anata wa ikemasen, wakai josei. Anata wa kekka o shitte imasu." He reminded me coldly and I nodded

I looked at him and averted immediately because I couldn't stand his piercing gray eyes. They felt cold and meeting them sent shivers up my spine.

For the first time, I could not stand the piercing gray eyes that my brother; nii-sama, and younger sister, Winter, have inherited from our Appa.

"Yurushite masutā nidoto okoranai." I said while bowing

"Forgiven. First warning, Flamelinne." He warned with his dangerous tone while staring straight into my eyes.

"I understand, Master," I replied and averted my gaze

When the call ended, I removed my earpiece and placed it on the laptop.

The longer Nii-sama serves as the head of the Empire, the more his presence gets similar to Appa's.

Sometimes, I feel like he's becoming more and more like Appa. I don't know if it's good or bad, but perhaps Eomma and Appa would be so proud of Nii-sama.

I sighed and took some of my clothes then went to the bathroom.

After I took a bath, I went to the security room and sighed when I saw that the two are still patrolling around the perimeter.

"Take a rest, Jess, Chelsea," I said on the earpiece

"You sure, Lav?" Jess asked

"Irene, let's stay on guard for tonight," I added and sat on the chair and watched the things happening through the camera.

I wore my earpiece again and I heard Jess and Chelsea talking to Irene from outside.

"What happened?" She asked and I forced a laugh

"Don't worry," I said and chuckled at her question

"Lav, seriously, what happened?" Jess asked worriedly

"It's nothing," I said and I can imagine Irene rolling her eyes

"Don't give us that shit, Lav," Irene said sarcastically

"It's not like you don't know my brother. He calls when he thinks I'm being secretive." I said taking it lightly but deep inside I'm worried

First warning.

I got my first warning and it came from my brother.

The Lord of the Hanazaki Palace.

I'm worried not for me but for my brother.

I know how painful it is for him to give me that warning.

A warning from the Palace Lord alone is dangerous because it will make the whole Palace council hot on your trail and can even lead to death, should the council decide that the person deserves it.

Some people even died from one warning alone, that only happens when the person that gave the warning is a member of the UHC or the Underground High Council.

They are the group of people who no one can mess with, they are not anyone you can trifle with because it's like courting death. I'm lucky, that currently, my brother is not a member of the said council just yet.

Just yet, that is.

He hasn't completed all the requirements to be a member of the said council, if he were Appa then he would have been part of the UHC.

"You sure?" Irene queried and I can hear the worry laced in her voice

"Yeah, you know Snow," I said

"Sometimes, I think that's the reason why he doesn't have a girlfriend because he worries too much about us." I said

"What does Frost not having a girlfriend have to do with worrying over you?" Irene asked in disbelief from the earpiece

"Maybe I should try setting him up on a date?" I kidded

"Really, Lavalee? You're really worried about your brother's love life?" she chuckled while asking and I snickered

"Why not? If I have a love life then I should have worried about it instead." I joked

If I were to have someone to love, I will have to let go of the family business because I don't want my future children to be involved in this. The world where you can only survive by killing someone else. I don't want my future children to experience what we experience while growing up, all those pain and killing. The nightmares of death.

"Want me to set you up on a date?" Irene asked from the other line

"Aniyo, kwaenchanayo. I'll just choose a guy from Nii-sama's friends." I said and I heard her laugh

"Which one of them? Don't almost all of your brother's friends have a girlfriend or something?" she said and I laughed

"Just kidding. But before you refer me to someone why don't you look for a lover for yourself, hmm?" I teased her

"I don't need a lover to interfere with my life." She said and I shook my head

"Suit yourself, but in case you change your mind, I'm only one call away ~" I teased and sang the last part

I took my phone and texted Jace.

To: Jace the Gay

We're okay. Jess and Chelsea are resting already.

After I sent it, I returned my gaze to the screens to continue monitoring the people and the events happening around our current base's vicinity.

When my phone vibrated, I opened it and I saw that Jace has replied to my message.

From: Jace the Gay

Sleep, Lavalee. Good night. Sweet dreams.

I replied 'I will' even though I won't.

He won't find out that I didn't sleep though.
