Hanazono: Heiress

Lavalee Flamelinne Hanazono, the second born and heir to the large multi-trillion Hanazono Empire, is not your typical heiress. Beneath her often irritating and frowned-upon spoiled and brat-like appearance and ways, she carries a heavy burden and a scarred heart. No matter how free and how ideal her almost perfect life appears in front of everyone, from the moment she had stepped into the world, her arms and feet had been bounded by chains. These chains not only restrict her from stepping into the light by holding her back into the shadows, but it also wraps around her heart. An inescapable obligation passed down behind the curtains from generation to generation in their family, an obligation that robbed her, and her whole family, of the chance to make great childhood memories. She had learned to live in a way that she doesn't hurt herself with the chains she's bounded to but this is about to change. “What I am doesn’t define who I am.” May it be the will of fate or simply mere coincidence, she will cross paths with a person who is her complete opposite. Even though he is walking in the path she can never walk in, his and her life will soon be entangled in a knot that tightens the more they try to step away from each other. She whose hands are tainted with the blood of many people, she who wears a crown of authority, power, and responsibility, she who keeps a whole empire steady, and she who had her heart surrounded by metal to avoid getting swayed from her duties. He who belongs to the world that Lavalee wanted to return to but can’t, he who mandates the laws that her world breaks, and he who has the courage to open Lavalee’s heart again. “Who said it’s going to be easy?” Indeed, it won’t be easy.

Acing the Test

I apologize in advance, I didn't have time to edit this since I was really running out of time because of freaking curfews.

_24_ (Lavalee Flamelinne Hanazono's Point of View)

I sat up and looked at my alarm.

It's already 4 AM so I stood up and went to my bathroom to do my morning rituals. I tapped Mnemosyne's head and took the containers into the small fridge and fed her.

After feeding her I carried her to the bathroom and bathe her after I bathe her I let her dry in the bathtub while I took a bath and changed into a white shirt with linings on the sleeves and back jeans, I wore my black nike, and my silver watch and checked my small bag.

When I got sure that I have my power bank, 2 black pens, 2 green pens, and my binder are inside my small bag, I took my tumbler from the study table and went to get a bottle of mineral water which I poured into my tumbler.

I took Mnemosyne and dried her then placed her down.

We went out of my room at exactly 5:10 AM.

I went downstairs and Mnemosyne ran to Jace.

Mne's starting to grow fond of him which I worry about because we'd be leaving soon.

I shook my head at the thought.

"You guys ready?" I asked them while we're having breakfast

"Oh, Lavalee, nothing seems to be stuck in my brain. That's a lot of English." Caspian said which made all of us laugh except the KJ Jace

"You can just ask Jess later." Irene suggested

"Why are students exchanging answers?" Ethan asked so we looked at Irene who thinks quick in making alibis

"That's normal when you don't know the answer." Irene said jokingly

"Is that some kind of delinquent school?" Jace asked which took my attention

"No, it's a sanctuary for children unaccepted by the society." I replied

"Guns? Knives? And different weapons are allowed?" he asked me with a raised brow

"Let's say that it's a school where students are free to do whatever they want except from killing and doing drugs. As I said, Red Fire Academy is a school for the black sheep of the society." I said

Of course, I'll defend Red Fire, Eomma and Appa gave it to me.

Red Fire Academy is designed according to what I want.

"You planned to build a company like that." Chelsea said so we nodded

Nice one, Chelsea!

Chelsea really is simple but sometimes she can be savage with her mere words.

We stood up and went to the garage and rode our own cars.

The drive was silent but it's not awkward, I remember that the car is this silent when I'm with Nii-sama alone in a car, there's a driver of course but he'd be intimidated to talk to me or my brother.

When we arrived at school, it's raining again like yesterday. I'm quite surprised that Jace has a gentleman side but as if I'd admit that to him.

When we arrived in the classroom we went to our seats and five minutes before seven the classroom is filled and everyone is seated accordingly.

The proctor came in and began distributing the test papers.

When he said begin, I immediately flipped the paper and wrote my name, err my cover name I mean.

This should be easy.

There are only three principles highlighted. I wrote the answers precisely and used the precise words, I'm actually tempted to write vague words but remembering the criteria, I think that's not the best idea.

The second question didn't give us how many but if I recall correctly there are eight key responsibilities.

As the test continued, I realized that the Palace punishment I undergo unintentionally reviewed and helped me with the exams.

After about 35 minutes, I finished the exam and stood up which earned a stare as I walk on the center aisle.

I looked at my watch and yeah I finished the midterm exam in just 35 minutes.

I placed my test paper on the proctor's table and he looked at me surprised.

He read my test paper and he seemed a bit shocked that I managed to answer the 60-item HRM midterm exam in 35 minutes.

"Are you sure of your answers, Ms. Kan?" he asked and I smiled sweetly

"Yes, sir." I said and he looked impressed.

Well, the Palace punishment is way harder than this so this is basically a mere review test for me now.

"You may go." He said so I went out of the classroom and went to the stairs to the second floor where our Midterm exams in Economics will be held.

"Oh? Ms. Kan, why are you here?" Mrs. Conchia said

"Ah. I finished the exam already, Miss." I replied

"You're the first again?" she asked and I shyly nodded

"As expected. I see that you ace, not only on the recitation but on written and on your seat works too." She said and I smiled shyly

"Thank you, ma'am," I replied

"Your parents must be proud of you." She said and I tried no to let my smile fade

"I guess they would be." I replied and she walked past me

"Your parents are proud of you." I looked at the one who said that.

"Thanks, Chelsea," I said and she smiled before placing her arm over my shoulder.

"How hard was it?" she asked while were seated on the first step on the stairs.

"Which?" I asked her and then smiled when she frowned.

Chelsea knew I knew exactly what she's referring to.

I was just trying to avert the topic.

"It was hard. Painful. I almost gave up but you know whenever I remember how I came home and saw our house flooded with blood 5 years ago, I suddenly want to fight back that this time, I want to fight." I said and we saw Jess, Irene, and the guys.

"What are you talking about?" Irene asked while we're going up the stairs

"The exam." Chelsea and I winked and chuckled when we answered the same thing in chorus

"Seriously? The exam?" Jess asked like she heard a huge joke

"Yeah, we were exchanging answers." I said and they frowned except for Jace

"You're both unbelievable." Jess said and they we marched up the stairs.

I was a little taken aback when Jace held my hand and pulled me beside him.

"What's this?" he asked and I shivered when he touched my back.

A scar to be exact.

"Nothing," I said and removed his hand and walked ahead

"You have a scar?" Chelsea whispered when I walked beside her

"I'll undergo the surgery in a week." I said and we went inside the classroom.

When we sat on our chairs, we saw that our papers are already placed on the table. The proctor told us to begin at once so I started reading the questionnaire.

This should be easy. I continued answering and I didn't notice that I'm too preoccupied with answering that a knife had already passed in front of me and hit the one seated beside me.

Aww poor him but he's not my priority.

I wrote the answer and moved to the next question. Sometimes I hate that our midterm exam is always enumeration and identification or during some instances, complete the sentence because there are so many possible answers.

I prefer questions that need answers or those that have choices.

'40.Why is economics nicknamed the "dismal science"?

'because it is all about running out of resources and the inevitable decline of life as we know it.' I wrote it under the question and within 35 minutes I finished the midterm exam and went to the proctor's table.'

"Great. She's ahead again.''

"That's a computer bro.'

"There must be an answer sheet."

"She's quick."

I rolled my eyes when I heard their whispers, good thing the proctor was busy scanning my test paper to even see my rolling eyes.

"Are you sure of your answers, Ms. Kan?" she asked

"Yes, ma'am." I replied and smiled sweetly

I was about to go out but I saw Jace and Chelsea standing up. I waited for them at the door and unsurprisingly Jace went out first.

"That's quick," I teased him

"Says the one who always goes out first." He retorted

"Ayiee, he's gettign talkative," I said and pinched his cheek

Chelsea then came out.

"Was it hard?" I asked her

"Your questions are harder, Lav. Who made those questionnaires, anyway?" Chelsea replied and I recalled who made the midterm exam for this school year.

Oh right, I asked Ms. Hesperides.

"Nii-sama's secretary," I said

"I thought it was you or Snow, it was hard. What should I expect on the finals, then?" she said while we're waiting for the others.

"Uh, harder questionnaires? I think Nii-sama did some correcting then Franco and Ares made it." I said and we both sighed

Ares Archangel is my brother's best friend and his only friend I suppose.

Franco Lim on the other hand is our colleague in High school way back in Frostwood.

Nii-sama didn't allow me to study at Red Fire Academy in New Jadecry, he insisted that I study at Frostwood Academy in New Yastrid.

I even thought he'd insist that I study in Seasonial Academy in Auryman or in Mandarin, Arcspai.

I'm glad he allowed me to study here at Red Fire Academy in Lagresch.

"You know the writer of our exams?" Jace asked

"Yeah and I wasn't able to ask help from them because they are super duper strict, especially Nii-sama." I said and then Jess and Irene along with Ethan Caspian and Elijah arrived

"I'm giving up, your exams are hard." Caspian said and sighed heavily which made us all chuckle except for Jace.

"It won't be this hard if we weren't in the same batch as Lavalee." Irene said so I frowned at her

"That's mean!" I acted offended.

Even if I'm not their batch mate those three would still make the exams hard.

"Why? Who was it that raised the bars, huh? Isn't it you?" Jess asked me and rolled her eyes

"Don't blame Lav. Frost's secretary did that and our final exams would be created by Brother and Ares." Chelsea said making them look confused

"Brother?" they asked in chorus before Jess and Irene's eyes widened

"Not Franco Lim!" They both grunted because Franco is really harsh in making exams and his favorite; IDENTIFICATION.

He never as in NEVER gave choices and his questions are so random but still on the same topic so it's really hard.

"Who is Franco?" Ethan asked

"Chelsea's second degree cousin, but he's older than her for about 2 months, if I remember correctly." I said

"We met him three years ago, damn that guy was harsh." Irene said and we went inside out next classroom which is Room 301.

Franco Lim is Chelsea and Neith's second degree cousin.

I remember that Ravien used to tell Rielle about Neith, whom he only saw on Franco's FB wall, and Bloom used to stop him because Ravien kept on insisting that he is the opposite of the bad girl Rielle and those two kids should end up together.

Though, Aqualyn Rielle haven't really meet Zach Neith so I guess it's too far from happening now that Ravien and Bloom's gone.

They were the couple of our group and now, they did end up in a more peaceful place. They're in heaven now.

"Begin," the proctor said when he entered the classroom. I looked at the test paper and smirked when I read the first question. This should be easy.

I wrote the answer and read the next question

The questions circulated in the definition of Marketing, Marketing research, brand and such.

I think Ms. Hesperides made this exam easy, at least Nii-sama's secretary isn't as strict and pressuring as he is.

After I answered the last set, I stood up and as usual, all eyes are on me.

What the heck is their problem?

I just answered the exam.

It's not my fault that the Palace Punishment unintentionally reviewed me for the midterm exams.

"Are you sure of your answers, Ms. Kan?" the proctor asked while reading my test paper

"Yes, sir," I replied then another person placed her test paper

"Are you sure of your answers, Ms. Go?" the proctor asked Chelsea

"Yes, sir," Chelsea replied in her serious voice.

Aww, Chelsea's so cute when she's being serious, I don't know I just feel like it.

After that, we walked out of the classroom but I saw Jace stand up before we left the room.

We went to the stairs to go to our next room which is on the fourth floor, how unlucky for the students who will have their midterm exams on the fifth floor.

"You're birthday's in three months." She said which made me confused

"Three? I thought... Darn it, it was Nii-sama's birthday, March 9." I said while shaking my head.

I got used with celebrating my birthday with Nii-sama ever since Eomma and Appa died, I got used that I celebrate my birthday on his birthday just for him to acknowledge it.

Damn.

"You even forgot your own birthday." She said and chuckled.

"I got used to it." I said brushing off the topic

Sorry, I won't be able to update tomorrow.

Things got piled up and being a writer doesn't really ahve a value where I live so, yeah, aren't considerate even though they ate most of my writing time.
