“The final one will be secured around my waist,” said the prince, beckoning the general closer. “You will have to tie this one behind my back.”

Cele took the last golden ribbon from Jan and rounded the prince, hesitating for only a moment before speaking – quietly and softly.

“Prince Heiko, why is it that you say things aloud to me and then, when I ask after them, you pull away like a hand-shy animal?”

“Why is it,” the prince replied. “That when you wish to gain my attention, you use my title, when, in reality, it means nothing to you?”

“Nothing?”

The Muse sighed. “I am not a prince to you, general. I am barely a priest. What I always am, however, is a thorn in your side that you cannot yet shed.”

Cele scowled. “Heiko-”

“See?” The Muse interjected before adding, “Hurry and tie the final ribbon. You’re holding up the entire Temple.”

Through clenched teeth, the general commanded, “Arms up.”
