Buddy part 1

As I rushed back inside the building, I could hear the loud voice calling my name.The sound of the voice doesn’t really appear to be distressed but more in being pissed. Then I saw my Captain, his eyebrows were clenched while arm crossed.

“Max! What are you doing outside! There is so much work that needs to be done here! Are you slacking again?” He shouts.

I was about to tell him that I saw another man sneaking out of the building, but I never got a chance to explain why I was outside. We were all interviewed by the police to investigate what happened to the dismembered body. We all told them that when we entered the building, the man was already dead and dismembered. We're all convinced that the other survivor was the sole perpetrator of the crime. After clearing the area, we talked to the guard of the building to get the information of the survivor and the dismembered body but we were surprised by what he said.

I never saw him before - the Guard said.

“What? You stated that there are two people trapped inside that building. Isn't he one of the two individuals you mentioned earlier?”

“No, I had never seen him before. I recognized the other person, but not this man.” The guard said pertaining to the survivor who attacked us during the rescue operation.

One of the medics snatched me away from the scene, saying she needed to check on my injury.

“You're lucky that your thick jacket kept that man from ripping off your flesh” The medic said.

I smiled as I was so concerned about the bite on my arms. “You don't need to be concerned, sir. This is just a bite mark. There is no blood and no wounds on your arm. Though the survivor managed to injure one of your teammates.” She was referring to Roger, whose arm was injured in the attack.

Yeah by the way, how is he? I asked.

Your teammate? His hands were fine, despite a small fracture on his kinky and a few wounds on his fingers.

“That's great to know” I smiled as I said those words.

Roger is my best buddy; he has saved my life several times and ensures that everyone on the team is safe. To me, he's more of a Captain than the man whose hobby it is to shout at us. Compared to him, Roger is the one who looks after everyone and motivates us to keep serving every day. I was daydreaming when I noticed the group of policemen in the distance.
