12 Chapter 12: A Little Game with Shanna

Bell found that casting spells silently wasn't difficult.

In fact, silent spellcasting was a standard skill for a qualified wizard. Even Hogwarts seventh-year graduates, not to mention the rigorously trained Aurors, could master a few silent spells.

The content of the incantations was actually meaningless. Wizards from different countries used different incantations; it wouldn't make sense for a French wizard to cast spells in English.

So, whether it was the incantation or the spellcasting gesture, it was actually a psychological suggestion for the wizard, making it easier for the wizard to clarify their intentions.

Because Bell had the maturity of an adult and mastery over magic, omitting the incantation and spellcasting gesture wasn't difficult for him once he got a little familiar with it.

"Big brother... Big brother..."

Little Shanna vigorously shook her brother's arm, once again interrupting Bell's thoughts.

"What's wrong, Shanna?"

Bell lovingly ruffled Shanna's head, completely unperturbed by the interruption of his thoughts.

"The doll's arm fell off."

Shanna pouted and handed her brother the doll she was holding.

Bell took the doll. Its arm seemed to have accidentally come off. Bell once again picked up his wand, cast a mending charm to reattach the doll's arm, and handed it back to Shanna.

Bell's primary goal at the moment was to learn spells and transfiguration, effectively utilizing the magic within him to enhance his combat abilities.

The magical world was never safe; as they said, you could only output if you were alive... Uh, wrong phrase, it was actually "you could only study magic if you were alive"; if you died, you'd lose everything. Bell wasn't the same as he was when he was just born; his life was precious now. And...

"Big brother... Big brother..."

Suddenly, Shanna threw herself into her brother's arms.

"What's wrong, Shanna?"

Bell once again lovingly ruffled Shanna's head.

"The building blocks broke."

Shanna pouted again, pointing to the scattered blocks on the ground.

Bell turned to look; there were some blocks scattered on the ground, one of which was already broken into pieces. Bell picked up his wand, repaired the blocks, and watched as Shanna picked them up to continue playing.

"Yeah, today Shanna is as obedient as ever!" Bell thought happily.

...

After a while, little Shanna began to feel tired. She put down the toy that had been repaired who knows how many times and returned to her brother's side.

Shanna snuggled into her brother's arms.

"Big brother, I want a little snack."

"But it's almost time for dinner."

Bell smiled and ruffled Shanna's head. Shanna's little head was soft and smooth, very comfortable to touch; Bell couldn't help but continue.

"But, I really want it!"

Shanna tried to put on a serious expression, making her little face even cuter.

"Then, let's play a game with big brother, Shanna. If you win, you can have a little snack, but if you lose, you have to be good and not eat snacks before dinner."

"Okay! Shanna will definitely win this time!"

Shanna stood up from her brother's arms. She had competed with her brother many times before; although her current record was 0 wins and a couple losses, she wasn't the same as yesterday! Shanna felt she had made a lot of progress; if her brother still looked at her with yesterday's eyes, then he was destined to lose!

"What are we competing in today, big brother?"

"Well..."

After thinking for a while, Bell waved his wand, and the scattered blocks on the ground floated up and transformed into five hoops, arranged at different heights in the air.

"Shanna has to control a block to pass through these five hoops one by one."

"Big brother is cheating! Last time there were only three hoops! Why are there five this time!?"

Little Shanna pouted, looking at her brother dissatisfied.

"Because my little Shanna has become so amazing! Just three hoops can't possibly challenge Shanna anymore." Bell flattered.

"Humph~ I can't do anything with you. But five still won't be enough to challenge me!" Little Shanna puffed her chest proudly.

"..."

"How is that possible! Big brother! You must have moved the hoops!"

Controlling the block, Shanna successfully passed through four hoops, but just as she was about to pass through the fifth one, the block hit the hoop and fell down.

Bell laughed and lifted Shanna up.

"How could big brother do that? Shanna has to admit defeat!"

"Humph! I will admit defeat this time! But just you wait, next time I will definitely win!"

...

Although not as proficient as Bell, little Shanna also had very impressive magical power.

Of course, in the modern magic system, the quantity of magical power wasn't emphasized much, after all, very few wizards faced the situation of magical power depletion. Simple spellcasting and low magic consumption were what people pursued in magic.

But Bell didn't think so; his goal wasn't to become an ordinary wizard found everywhere. So, Bell set himself a small goal - "Face a nuclear bomb." After all, in this day and age, if you couldn't even catch a nuclear bomb, how could you dare to go out and explore?

Similarly, Bell had high expectations for Shanna. He hoped that on the path of exploring magic, Shanna could advance with him.

So, upon learning that Shanna, at less than three years old, could use magic to move some light objects, Bell was very pleased.

Based on this, during the usual time spent playing with his sister, Bell didn't just play around like an ordinary child from an ordinary family. He consciously cultivated Shanna's control over magic.

Bell first used magic to stack blocks, play ball, and control the movements of dolls to pique Shanna's interest.

At the beginning, little Shanna couldn't control her magic well and often threw tantrums, unwilling to use magic. But Bell would always patiently soothe the stubborn little Shanna and let her play in the way she liked.

Then, after a period of time, he would repeat the process of doing fun things with magic to pique Shanna's interest again, then once again train Shanna's control over magic, continuously repeating this process.

When Shanna could proficiently use magic to control the movement of objects, Bell began to set up rewards and added some competitiveness to their play to stimulate Shanna's competitiveness. He decided to spend a few years training Shanna's control over magic to his own level, making her adept at wielding magic.

In addition to magical control, Bell also taught Shanna magical knowledge, such as using "A Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi" to teach Shanna literacy and using stories from "A History of Magic" as bedtime stories for Shanna.

But Bell found that this method wasn't very effective; after all, it was a textbook, and the content inside couldn't be said to be interesting. Although Shanna's literacy was rapidly increasing, she couldn't remember the content of the books.
