48 Chapter 46 Nuclear Option

Mike dropped Black Widow off on the roof of Stark Tower. Looking up at the portal, Mike commented, "Be so much easier if I could go on the other side, I would be able to stop holding back."

"Don't even think about it, for all you know there are enough forces on the other side to overwhelm even you." Natasha said quickly. "We don't need one of our heavy hitters going AWOL."

"It was just a thought," Mike grumbled over the radio.

"She is right, son." Captian America said. "we don't have enough information to send you over for now. Stay and help contain this situation."

"Yes, sir, understood." Mike responded," Archangel, can you target all missiles through the portal?"

"On it." Brand responded before firing a salvo of missiles from the Archangel through the portal.

"I can close the portal!" Natasha said over the comms.

"Do it!" Captian America ordered.

"Hold on, you have a nuke incoming!" Fury warned.

Stark intercepted the missle before flying it into the portal. Mike caught him as he fell. After they arrested Loki Mike and the Archangel declined scwarma statingnthey had to get back to space.

"Also tell Fury I expect an explanation for firing a nuke into the middle of New York while we were still capable of holding the line." Mike stated to Natasha.

"Agreed," She responded, "They owe us one hell of an explanation for that shit."

"Language," Captian America said, to everyone's amusement.

After Orb forces had been recalled to the ship, Mike ordered Morganrote to provide disaster relief for the city. While en route to the Mass Driver, he asked for whoever the league had left in charge. Martian Manhunter was apparently in charge while the others were gone.

"What is the situation?" Mike asked.

"Green Lantern has been accused of killing an entire world." Martian Manhunter answered. The League is defending him in trial and looking for evidence to prove his innocence."

"Understood if you need our help please contact us." Mike stated, getting involved right now was not the best idea. The Gaurdians were still a little ticked off after the whole war world fiasco.

Mike stopped as a notification sounded.

Mike quickly ordered a scan for the waters near Japan for any nuclear activity. Seeing what appeared to be a nuclear explosion moving in a straight line off of the Chinese coast towards Japan, Mike ordered the Archangel to set the course immediately. The Irish Battleships in Orbit had drop pods, Mike ordered them to drop onto the Japanese coast and hold it until reinforcements arrived. Sprinting back to the hangar, he called the bridge to warn them of the danger and to set course.

He launched in the Freedom rising quickly in the atmosphere in a flight path reminiscent of a ballistic missle. Contacting the Japanese government, he warned them of the incoming danger and the fact that he was inbound and not a nuclear missle. They scrambled their defense forces to the coast as the mobile suits arrived from space and set up a perimeter.

"With your permission, Mr Prime Minister, my country will hold this thing back. Can you get with the Chinese and try to figure out what it is we are dealing with." Mike was speaking with Japan's Leaders as he was inbound. "Projections show it is 5 hours out, but I would like to stop it sooner every second it is in the ocean it is creating an ecological disaster."

"Yes, of course, and thank you for helping us in our hour of need." The Minister responded.

Mike then received some good news. White Base had been assigned to monitor the 3 islands that Orb had recently received, They were far nearer to the situation than the Archangel and were already on their way. "Need to get them a good Captian later." Mike thought to himself.

There were several versions of Brimstone that Mike could remember. Since it was leaving the Chinese coast, Mike hoped it was the JLU version. Other versions included Apocalypse tech and would be a pain to deal with. Speaking of the Justice League, Aquaman, Supergirl, and Green Arrow had responded and were now arguing on the Japanese Coast.

"Every minute it is in the water, it harms my kingdom!" Aquaman argued.

"We can't fight it till we know what we are dealing with!" Green Arrow argued back.

"Umm, guys." Supergirl interjected.

""What?!"" They both responded, clearly still heated from the argument they were still having. She just pointed up as Mike descended, landing on the beach.

Exiting the suit, Mike approached them both. "Hey here to help out?"

They looked at him as if he were stupid. "Why else would we be here." Aquaman responded heatedly.

"Good. I appreciate the help. The Japanese government is trying to figure out what we are dealing with as we speak. Aquaman, can you command the sealife to evacuate for now. As soon as we have a plan, we will be moving. Whatever it is, it is an ecological disaster."

"We must stop it now!" Aquaman began to argue again.

Before he could gain steam, Mike looked at him. "It is a moving nuclear explosion. The Freedom is the only thing here that can even get close, and we have no idea if it is a mutant, Metahuman, robot, alien, demon, or anything else. Attacking it before we have a basic understanding of what it is will be detrimental and waste life. We may not be dragging our feet, but we will also not jump in head first without a plan. We have one chance to contain it, one. As soon as we have a plan we will engage it in the Ocean with long range fire, then when neutralized we will move it to the Bikini Archepelego where nuclear testing has been done in the past till we figure out a way to dispose of it safley."

The logic behind that statement made Aquaman pause. "Fine, we will do things your way, but if it becomes a danger to Atlantis, then you will answer to me."
