“Hey, Keith?” I called the number on the front of the store, happy my hunch paid off. I thought it might go to a cell or home phone after hours. My lucky night. “I was hoping I could come over and chat about the case with you and Karen.”
“Not a problem, Justice, not for me, anyway. But I have no idea where Karen is.”
“Oh?” I sat up straighter.
“She disappeared out of the shop around three, said she’d be back in a couple hours. Haven’t seen or heard from her since.”
“I’ll be right over.”
“Wait.” Keith’s voice changed. “Should I be…worried?”
“Keep trying to get ahold of her. I’ll be right there.”
