As they ventured further into the mist-filled dungeon, the party's steps echoed eerily. The silence was only broken by their cautious whispers.
"Master, what do you think caused this mist?" Marielle asked, her voice tinged with anxiety.
"I'm not sure," Nikos replied, his tone thoughtful. "It could be a natural phenomenon, or it might be the work of a dungeon guardian. We need to be prepared for anything."
Liriel, always alert, scanned their surroundings. "Sir, if it is a guardian, do you have a plan?" she asked, her voice steady despite the tension.
"I had some plan, but we'll see the situation first," Nikos said. "If we encounter a guardian, we will use our usual formation. Jarek will take the front line, Marielle will keep us healed in the middle, and Liriel, you'll strike from the shadows. I'll provide support and switch classes as needed."
Jarek nodded, his honorable nature shining through. "Understood, master. I'll follow your lead."
As they moved deeper, the mist seemed to close in around them, making it difficult to see more than a few feet ahead. The atmosphere grew heavier, and the tension among the group was palpable.
Their journey through the mist continued, each step taking them further into the unknown depths of the dungeon.
As they delved deeper into the dungeon, the mist growing thicker, Nikos couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched. His calculating mind worked tirelessly to assess their situation and plan their next move.
"We're not alone," he said quietly, his voice barely a whisper. "Stay close and be ready for anything."
The party nodded, listening to his instruction with all seriousness. They trusted in his assessment and knew that, together, they could face any danger that the dungeon threw their way.
They continue the journey, until they reach stairdown leading to third floor of the dungeon.
Nikos led his party down the spiral staircase from the second floor to the third, his analytical mind already assessing potential threats. The mist that had plagued them above began to thin out, offering a clearer view of the dungeon's layout.
"Finally, some visibility," Liriel said, her voice tinged with relief. "The mist was making it difficult to see anything."
Nikos nodded, his senses keenly attuned to the surroundings. "Indeed, but stay alert. Just because we can see better doesn't mean we're safe."
Jarek, the lizard-man warrior, gripped his greataxe tightly. "Master, what's the plan?"
Nikos remained calm, his mind ever vigilant. "We proceed with caution. The third floor may not be as shrouded in mist, but that doesn't mean it's any less dangerous. Keep your eyes open and be ready for anything."
As they moved through the corridors of the third floor, the atmosphere, though foreboding, lacked the tension of the second floor. The party's spirits lifted slightly as they encountered no enemies.
"This place feels... strange," Liriel commented, her eyes scanning the walls. "It's too quiet."
Nikos, ever analytical, responded, "Stay sharp. Just because we haven't encountered any enemies yet doesn't mean there aren't any. Let's proceed cautiously."
Marielle, trying to lighten the mood, added, "At least we can see better here. That mist on the second floor was suffocating."
Jarek, honorable and cautious, added, "Stay vigilant. Thish quiet atmosphere could be a sign to something far worse."
They moved through the corridors that seemed to stretch endlessly, their magic lamps casting eerie shadows on the walls. The lack of immediate threats gave them a brief moment of relaxation, but Nikos' instincts kept him on edge.
Their path led them to a section of the dungeon where the walls were adorned with ancient paintings.
Nikos pulled out a magic lamp, illuminating the intricate artwork. The paintings depicted two massive monsters—a sea serpent and a crab king—standing before a grand door. Other paintings told stories of these boss monsters worshipping a strange, otherworldly creature.
"These paintings are fascinating," Marielle said, appreciateing the artistry on the wall. "It's like they're telling a story."
Liriel examined the paintings closely. "Sir, do you think these monsters are the bosses of this floor?"
Nikos pause for a moment, his intelligent eyes scanning the artwork. "It's could be. However, from all the information I gather the 3rd floor never had any bosses, there is only two statues guarding the treasure door."
"But, I don't know for sure. These paintings could be a warning or a record of what lies ahead." Nikos touch the carving on the wall, "In worse case scenario, we could use teleportation scroll to retreating from the boss if it become too dangerous."
Jarek nodded agree with his master. "We should be prepared for anything," he said cautious as always, looked at the paintings with a wary eye.
With his honorable nature guiding him, Jarek readied his greataxe. "I'll take the lead, Mashter. If we encounter this monsters, I'll shtrike first."
"Go on," Nikos gave his approval.
As they continued through the dungeon, examining the paintings along the way, they eventually reached the end of the maze. There, they saw a grand door, flanked by two imposing statues. The statues depicted the very same monsters from the paintings—the sea serpent and the crab king.
This thing somehow feels familiar. Nikos eyes locked both on the statues as he studied the statues closely, the group continue to walk through the long corridors approaching the grand door of treasure room.
Nikos examine every part of the statues, his eyes drawn to the statues black eyes. They're too lifelike, something doesn't feel right about them. He stare at the imposing statue of sea serpent monster.
Then as they approached the door, Nikos catch the statues eyes blink for a mere second. Fuck! this definitely not statues.
The statues blank eyes suddenly turn to stare at Nikos, its stone bodies vibrate subtly as it coming to life and began to move.
"Prepare yourselves!" Nikos shouted, his voice echoing through the corridor. "We're under attack! These are not statues!"
However, before the group could fully prepare themselves, the sea serpent monster lunged forward with incredible speed, striking Nikos and slamming him against the wall.
Bam!
The force of the impact left Nikos momentarily stunned as he vomiting bloods from his mouth.
"Master, no!" Marielle cried out, her voice filled with both fear and determination. She rushed to his side, her healing magic already flowing.
Liriel, her persistent nature driving her forward, with daggers in hand she's attacking the monster. "We have to protect, Sir Nikos!"
Jarek, his cautious eyes now filled with fury, charged at the serpent with his greataxe. "You'll pay for that!"
The room erupted into chaos as the battle began, Nikos lying down on the floor heavily wounded from the attack, Marielle next to him chanting her spell trying hard heal him, Liriel and Jarek fighting the sea serpent monster holding their stance to protect their master.
