29 The Calm Before The Storm

-Shen Wei-

After making sure that Zhao was sound asleep, Shen Wei gently detangle himself from his lover hold and go out of their room. Apparently, both the training during the day and the fight with the demons during the night had end up worn out the Chief's energy, despite himself. At the end, after a few drinks with rice wine to celebrate surviving a small war, Zhao had fall asleep over the table, for which he had carry him to his room and stay with for a few hours.

However, unlike his lover, he couldn't find the needed rest as easily because just like Da Qing, the involvement of the crow tribe with the underworld was bothering Shen Wei to no end, that night. So he leave Zhao to his peaceful dream and head out to have a walk through the temple until reaching the tower. He wanted to have a view of the valley and try to sense if more crows were somewhere near, still lurking in the darkness.

He closed his eyes and released bit of his energy, sensing everything all around for miles, but find nothing out of ordinary. Ming Yue had clear the valley entirely, leaving not even a hint of residual energy from the demons that were consume by her fury. Then he wonder just how come the tribe had decided to lend a hand to demons or even desired GongGong's resurrection, when he obviously wanted the destruction of the world.

There was also the unknown situation at Hell. Who was the one behind the crossing of demons? He honestly believed Ye Zun was not directly involved, at least not this time, but that only make him even more clueless of who else could be the one pulling the strings. Hell had always held the most vicious and wicked, but he had always believed that Ye Zun as their king, was actually the strongest. Now, he wasn't so sure about whatever he was the king or not.

He needed to find out soon, probably right after they find the artifacts and also go down even deeper in hope to destroy GongGong, as Ming Yue had suggested. However, thinking on destroying his own creator was kind of hard for him to imagine. He wasn't exactly too found of him, but he did gave him life, for which he was thankful, if nothing else.

"Babe, why looking so worry?" Zhao said from behind him, coming closer to hug him. Shen had sense him coming, not minding his company. Actually, having him close helped him to easy his mind. He relaxed in Zhao's arms and lean on his body, enjoying Yunlan's warmth against his colder back and cover his hands which held his waist, with his own.

"It's nothing, why did you leave the room? It's colder outside and you were quite tired…" Shen whisper, closing his eyes.

"I needed to pee and find you gone, so obviously I go out looking for you. I worry you may return to the underworld on your own. The fat cat was nagging you a lot about the involvement of the crow tribe, so I kind of panic…" Zhao said on his ear, making him faintly shudder.

"I wouldn't leave you without telling you first, so you will not worry…" Shen said.

"Ah, but going back on your own, even if telling me will not keep me from worrying." Zhao whisper holding him even thighlier.

"Yunlan…" Shen whisper back moving his head just a bit, which only make Zhao go right ahead and kiss his tinted cheek.

"I know you are the mighty Ghost Slayer, feared by most ghost in the underworld, but even if you are literarily a half god, that doesn't make you immortal. Kunlun warned me, back in his temple that I should never let you go to Hell on your own. Why do you think he awoke my powers? Just to make sure you will never fight alone, nor be overwhelmed by doing everything on your own."

"So that was the reason you accepted to become blind?" Shen asked curiously.

"Of course. I honestly don't know what I will do without you by my side. Everything that keeps you safe it worthy of trying. So please, let me and the rest of my team help with this. Tomorrow we can travel to Nuwa's tribe and talk with Zhu Hong's Uncle. The tribes had their own rules and whatever the crow fairies are doing against humanity is also their concern." Zhao kissed his neck, which please him greatly.

"Did Kunlun said something about GongGong? That he should be destroyed as Ming Yue suggested?" Shen asked, opening his eyes to look at the night sky, which was shining with thousands of stars.

"He said he was imprison by a god, not a demon as most believed, but that's not important now, because your hugging obsessed foxy mother had already confirm it for us. By the way, I like her…" Zhao said, squishing him more, making Shen smile.

"I bet you do, you squeeze as much as her. Should I bring Da Qing for you to do the same?" Shen joked, making Zhao laugh.

"Ha, that's a good one, he hates hugs the must and mine are exclusive for a young Professor with rimmed glasses."

"I'm not young, Yunlan." Shen whisper.

"You are into my eyes. What's a few centuries, honestly…" Zhao lowed his head to kiss him between his shoulder and neck.

"You mean a few millenniums…" Shen finally turned to look at him, still being held by Zhao.

"Don't mind, you are still hot and sexy, not to mention such a beauty that everyone seems to love. I have never felt as much jealousy in my entire life, as in the last few days. Damn, I should write a talisman that says, he is mine, don't look, don't touch or you will taste the fires of Hell." Zhao said before kissing him full in the mouth.

He was not going to dare to try more than that, because there was a fox lady, half sleeping within the temple, that will hunt him down if he crossed the line, right under her watch. Still, as Shen Wei sexily moaned against his lips, when deepening the kiss, it was hard to even remember there was a fox closer to a goddess under their feet.

"I'm yours… there is no need to feel jealous…" Shen whisper between kisses.

"Sorry, can't help myself… you are too damn perfect and cute…" Shen smiled, enjoying Zhao's passion.

"That's hardly an excuse." Shen argue.

"That's a perfect reason… Ah, babe, don't argue… let me kiss you senseless before your mother can get rid of me." Shen smiled against Zhao's lips and let him guide him toward the wall, in which he crushed him against, but suddenly, he felt an abnormal energy, coming from somewhere outside the temple, making him push Zhao away, at the same time he released a cloud of smoke that way.

"Shen Wei…" Zhao begin, but Shen stop him, concentrating his senses in checking for the source of the foreign energy, but as soon as he had felt it, was gone, without a trace. Just in case, Shen grabbed Zhao's arm and portal them back to their room.

"Shen Wei please, what just happen?" Zhao insisted.

"We were being watched by someone unknown." Shen said.

"The crows?" Zhao asked.

"I can't be sure. It's gone now…" Shen whisper a bit worry. There were so many unknown factors lately.

"Was it hostile? Do you felt it was trying to harm us?" Zhao asked.

"No. not exactly, it was more like it was just watching us." Shen said, taking sit over the border of their bed.

"I guess we were giving him/her a good show." Zhao joked.

"Seriously you…" Shen sighed.

"Nothing is going to happen while inside the temple, you say so yourself, the barrier here is gods level." Zhao assured him.

"This is just getting more complicated."

"It usually is when two strong forces are crashing against each other. We know they want the artifacts, we know the crow tribe is now involved, we know GongGong is the key and that eventually we need to do something about him. Let's wait until tomorrow to try find more answers with the other tribes." Zhao insisted.

"Fine. Go back to sleep, I will keep watch just in case." Shen was going to rise from the bed, but Zhao, sit by him and stop him.

"Sorry Xiao Wei, but I hate to sleep alone. You are going down with me." He said pulling him to rest over the mat.

"Yunlan…"

"You need to rest too, Shen. It doesn't help you to worry only. We are all involved in this, so let us share your burden. Please?" Zhao asked with such puppy eyes that Shen resign himself. He truly couldn't deny that man anything, so he lie down by Zhao's side again and hold him tightly. Maybe whatever that was watching them had nothing to do with the crows or the demons. Mount Kunlun was close by and in there resided many strange creatures they didn't knew anything about. So soon, as he watched Zhao resting over his chest he couldn't help but also be part of a blissful oblivion.

AN: Thanks for reading. I wonder who was watching our couple while making out.
