5 Chapter 5

"Please somebody help us!" a woman screamed, huddled over her child protectively as a Beowolf lunged through the air towards them.

Just before it could tear into them, you ploughed into into and tore it from the air, front claws digging into its throat and smashing it into the ground.

You retracted your claws and let the corpse fall limp beneath you, already beginning to dissipate into smoke.

For all the annoyance your new ability as a Grimm to feel emotions was, it was a great boon in helping you find people and save them.

After a few moments, the woman uncurled and looked up hesitantly, meeting your eyes. She was a real attractive thing, all voluptuous and lovely, meeting your crimson red eyes with uncertain, terrified green. Just your luck really, to save a milf, and be in the body of a Grimm being unable to use it to your advantage.

"A-a Grimm?" she looked at you in shock.

"H-iiideee." you hissed out.

"Mommy the Grimm talked!" the little girl beneath the bodacious mother gasped.

The mother looked at you wide eyed.

You huffed and turned away. These two made sixteen people in total you'd managed to save, and that was the thirteenth Beowolf you'd killed in the last ten minutes.

You were stuck going through the outer streets of Vale. There wasn't much you could do in the central ones that were filled with soldiers, or worse, Miss Goodwitch. You saw her just a few minutes ago tearing a Giant Nevermore like the one you barely managed to bring down out of the sky like it was child's play and smashing it into a pulp against the ground with her semblance.

Your combat instructor was as scary as ever.

You were just about to continue on your way. But before you could, the ground began to shake and more and more screams filled the night sky. The very earth itself began to rumble and an ominous cracking sound resounded out through the city.

Your head instinctively turned towards the massive mountain overlooking the city of Vale. Even from the distance you were at, thousands of feet away from it, you could see massive cracks running up the rocky structure.

..What the hell?

BOOM!

An instant later, the mountain blew apart, sending massive rock platforms in the dozen flying through the air in all directions. And emerging from the remnants left behind, shooting up into the air, was a massive Grimm.

The biggest you'd ever seen. Towering above buildings, it had to be in the multiples of hundreds of feet in size, with a giant wing span that spread out and hid the light of the moon from view.

It took in a deep breath, and then it roared.

The sound could not be underestimated. Gale force winds tore through the air so powerfully even thousands of feet away you were buffeted. It was so loud you could barely even hear yourself think.

And you felt it.

FEAR!FEAR!FEARF!FEARDESPAIR!DESPAIR!DESPAIRFEAR!DESPAIR!FEAR!DESPAIR!FEAR!DESPAIR!FEAR!DESPAIRDESPAIRDESPEGERITGERGERIGRIGIERIHIEHIE!

The fear and despair of all the people within the city threatened to overwhelm you and throw you into a blood rage like those times before when you were caged in darkness after being reborn as a Grimm.

You were more used to the feeling now though! And you couldn't allow yourself to fall into a rage, not right now! Not when there's a defenceless little girl and her mother behind you that you would surely tear apart.

You dug your claws in deep into the ground and took in as deep a breath as you were able, your very pride centering you. And then you threw your head out and you ROARED RIGHT BACK!

As pitiful as yours was in comparison, and as completely drowned out as it was, raging against the instincts to rage and against the beast causing the emotion that threatened to overwhelm you was enough to keep you level headed.

And then the Grimm, in the shape of a dragon from the olden tales stopped its roar. And took off, shooting through the air like a massive missile towards Beacon Academy. It was so fast you could barely follow it with your eyes despite its massive size.

Weiss panted as she cartwheeled backwards, narrowly dodging the large sweeping paw of an ursa. She was incredibly low on aura right now, and all about out of dust.

With Ruby now using her Glyphs to reach Pyrrha at the top of Beacon tower, it left her alone for now and running on fumes.

'I may have to flee soon.' the white haired heiress mused, dancing around the large form of the ursa chasing after her and leaving it with a few stabs with her rapier for its trouble.

She could finish it instantly if she enhanced her blows with aura, but she was so low on it right now she didn't want to risk it at all.

It was times like these she wished her family semblance had an aspect like Cobalt's. The ability to absorb aura and replenish her own would be mighty hand right now.

Weiss' grimaced as her thoughts went to her 'friend'. He'd been missing the passed few days. And she'd only found out just yesterday. She knew he and his team had never been close, but she didn't think it was to the point where they wouldn't even notice he had went missing.

And then while she was trying to find him, things went to hell. They were disqualified because of Yang being tricked into attacking Mercury somehow, holding her up and then right after there was the debacle with Pyrrha and Penny..and now this.

No matter how much she yearned to try and find the cocksure boy she had met on the bullhead to Beacon, she just couldn't find the chance.

She grunted, twirling around the Ursa one last time and piercing her rapier up through its chin and into its brain. She sighed in relief as it went limp and fell dead at her feet.

She swayed uneasily., feeling her exhaustion getting the better of her. And at that very moment, a massive roar resounded behind her. The roar of an Ursa.

Exhausted as she was, with her aura so low, she didn't quite react in time to dodge. She only had time to whirl around and lift her rapier up to block the massive clawed paw that tried to slam into her, igniting her aura as they did.

She grunted and a small moan of pain left her throat as she was smashed into the ground, and her body sagged as her aura broke apart, leaving her defenceless.

'Damn it.' it wasn't like her to swear, but she'd spent too much time around Cobalt for her not to pick up on a few things. And being an orphan that had grown up on the street for the first majority of his life, the boy knew quite a few swears.

She looked up just as the Ursa roared and reared upwards, preparing to slam its two massive paws down onto her.

Surprisingly, Weiss wasn't afraid despite certain death looming above her. She might have been a bit naive, but she was also a realist, and she'd known in the very beginning that trying to become a huntress might end in her death.

Still, she did have some regrets...

She hoped Cobalt was okay, wherever he was.

Not that she was going to go quietly though! She pushed herself up on shaky legs and held her rapier in a trembling grip, her muscles feeling like jelly and prepared to thrust up with all her strength as the Ursa came down.

Just as the fated clash between her and black bear was about to take place though. A loud roar split the air, and a massive black furry form slammed into the side of the Ursa and smashed it into the ground a few feet away from her.

Weiss couldn't help herself. She gaped as she looked over the form of a young Griffon, not quite the size of an adult one rending its glowing aura filled claws through the Ursa's neck and sending blood and gore flying through the air.

..Wait? "Aura!?" Weiss screamed in shock.

The Ursa fell limp beneath the Griffon in just a few split moments and it turned towards her, burning crimson eyes staring into her own. Weirdly, the Ursa at its feet began to immediately dissipate and the smoke it turned into began to get sucked up into the Griffon.

Now that she was looking it in the face though. She noticed something odd about the grimm itself besides the aura and the fact that it had apparently saved her. It had a lock of tousled fur, almost like hair hanging over the tip of its mask, over its forehead. A lock of fur, that was a deep cobalt blue in colour.

..It looked just like the same tousled bit of blue hair that Cobalt had. His hair was black and spiky, except for one bit that hung over his forehead, which was a deep blue in colour.

"wEiSs." Her name left its mouth. It was deep, garbled and hissing. But she could almost detect a familiar tone.

Her eyes grew wider and wider. "Cobalt?" she gasped. She forgot all about the fact that this was a Grimm and stepped forward on shaky feet, raising a hand up towards it.

And it reciprocated, lowering its head down slowly towards her hand. But, just before her palm could meet its head, a piercing shriek split the aura and silver white light exploded out from the top of Beacon Tower.

It expanded in the form of a massive orb of light that rapidly grew outwards. The blue tipped Griffon roared in pain and with a flap of its wings that began to smoke and burn before her very eyes, while ice began to form over its body, it took off into the air and fled into the night sky.

"COBALT!" Weiss shouted after it, before her vision grew dark, her exhaustion catching up with her as she fell unconscious.
