Chapter 2: The Flawed Charmer

The princess is indeed a charmer and everyone dotes on her. The queen would always sing lullabies to her that she almost forgot about her other baby--the fish. Fortunately, the midwife has put the fish in a large aquarium and told the maids in the palace to take care of it. She did not tell that it came from the queen and said that she saw it in the bathroom when she cleaned the baby princess. The maids were dumbfounded and the midwife said that she has no idea how it got there also. Still, since they believe it to be a symbol of good fortune, they took care of it. Princess Emerald continued to be loved by everyone and grew to be a pretty lass, but she kept secrets-- which some would consider to be her flaws or quirks. She has a red birthmark shaped like a fish on the calf of her leg and she has to wet it with saltwater every six hours for it not to be itchy. She can also talk to the fish in the large aquarium and not tire watching it swimming for six minutes after she wets her birthmark with saltwater.
