Chapter 20 : Suspicion.

When Day saw them outside the door, he immediately knew things would go to his disadvantage. Their look of disappointment had left the young man bitter as he was escorted to the card room. Finding himself locked up there when he was one of the owner's places only made him more resentful. But he said nothing. They were too angry to listen to him without distorting his words. The omega and his friends waited patiently with concern for the following sanction: having dared to cross the threshold of the forbidden room despite themselves. It was the Duke's fault, of course, but he was already in enough trouble for them to say that he had forced the lock open: he would be killed on the spot for that.

"It was to talk to him. We chose the first room within our reach!"Foud had shouted as he was half-dragged by the guards.

"We weren't going to type the argument in the hallway as the guards chased after him! He's terrified!"Nyx had added without changing anything.

The sanction fell around three o'clock in the morning: they were no longer allowed to be alone. Young gods had to stay in the card room, except in cases of absolute necessity. Day had begged that Orthon could be with them to help them, but that only increased Minndt's father's bad mood. The latter had left without granting him the slightest word, the slightest glance and the blond understood: his opinion did not matter. Sleeping in the same room as the others was a strange experience, and he learned, the hard way, that the sleep pattern was not the same for everyone. He who struggled to sleep at night, hearing Nyx and his brother discussing in a low voice where to eat made him want to join them! He decided to do it on a night when he absolutely could not sleep despite his many positions change.

"Good enough!"He mumbled, pushing his blanket aside before getting up.

"Hey? Are we too loud?"Dark Nyx asked quickly, putting down his bowl.

"No, I can't sleep, and you make me hungry. Is there any rice left?"

"A little bit yes, that should be enough for a nighttime breakout. Nyx will warm it up for you."

The omega passed between Moain and Foud and took a seat in front of them before grabbing the warmed bowl. The smell of rice and pork gave him mouth water, and he not could wait any longer to take his chopsticks and eat rice.

"Wouoh, the little one is hungry!" teased the god of trickery and malice.

"Who are you calling "little one", exactly? We're not two inches apart."

"You are younger than me, I remind you, you owe me respect."

"Oh, and what do you want me to call you? I don't even know your name."

"Why call me when you just have to wave me? They call me Dark. Please do the same."

"Don't you like your name?"

"Take care of your loaves."

"Hey, gently will you!" intervened Nyx, watching him intently. "He just asked you the question in an attempt to get to know you, nothing more. Drop your knife, please."

The elder reluctantly obeyed and put down the knife he held without taking his eyes off the blond.

"The memories that come back to me are more and more precise," finally confessed the omega when he had finished his bowl.

"What do you mean?"

"My memory is weird, I don't understand what's going on, but I have some weird memories that come up. I don't know if they are real or if they come from my dreams."

"Are you having strange dreams?" Dark Nyx worried, looking at him suspiciously.

"More and more. I was already doing it in Inverness, but here it became more pronounced. When I remembered you, I had a strange feeling of lack before it disappeared as quickly as it was coming."

"Do you know why you forgot about us?"

"No."

"What did you think when you wondered where you were from?"

"I always remembered where I was from. I just forgot about you. When Nyx told me who he was, it came back all of a sudden. Same with you guys. I don't know why I told you. Forget it."

"It's suspicious!" Lou's voice came from his futon.

The three gods at the table turned to her and were amazed to see her and the others awake.

"Too noisy?"Day asked immediately.

"No, we were listening to you," Foud smirked, turning to the side."Lou is right. The fact that your memories are so confused is strange. You inherited the powers from your grandfather. You can use the power of the spirit on yourself, right?"

"I already tried. It only gave me a terrible headache."

"I remember Minndt putting his hand on the back of his head as you stared at Foud," evoked Leit as he rolled up his futon.

"Which was, by the way, very scary. I thought you were going to get up and kill me!"

"Not only was it scary, but Minndt's attitude was too. If you ask me, he must have seen what was blocking your memory."

"And of course, he's not with us since he's asleep and the guards are watching his room."

"His father is with him too."

"Personally, I find him strange… Well, I already found him strange before but even more so now. Him who is very calm ordinary… Why did he get so angry?"

"We were where we shouldn't be. Our parents believe our lie that we deliberately entered the room even though it was this nobleman that entered forcing the lock."

"But that's just a junkyard, nothing more. Why get upset over boxes full of trinkets?"

Lou shrugged and turned to the others, just as hungry for answers as she and Foud. Their parents were already strange when certain subjects came to be put on their mat. But Day could not deny the truth: their reaction to their coming into the storage room had been excessive. Or maybe not. Everyone jumped when the door swung open, and Minndt's father stepped into the room, the guards staying in their places.

"One of two things: you should sleep except for the two vampires, and two, you should learn to listen around you that would have let you know I was behind the door," he said without even veiling his voice. your condescending tone. "Not only do your thoughts betray you, but your words too."

"You are not allowed to read our minds without our permission!"Dark Nyx protested, hitting the table.

"Is it my fault you think so loudly? You protect this vampire. Why?"

"He has information," Moain growled, restraining the insult to his lips.

"He's giving them away. He's cooperative."

"Normal if you terrorize him."

"Fear is a weapon that people offer themselves. We don't do anything. We just question him."

"I do not believe you."

"I know it."

"Where is he?"

"In the isolation room for the prisoners."

"Can we go see him?"

"Do you think we'll let you go see him after you've lied to us like that?"

"We have protected him so that he is not killed! This Order is gaining more and more ground and followers, and he can help us end it. But for having him fully cooperative, we must win his faith."

"He's still here because he's talking. Trusting him would backfire on you."

Moain clenched his fists and restrained himself from putting his fist in his face, forcing himself to remember that he was a god. That he was Minndt's father and that he couldn't afford to lose his blood-cold. But this desire to hit him was shared by the twins who violently bit their bread. To calm down and have control of themselves.

"We can go see him anyway," Foud insisted, approaching the door.

"No, you can't."

"Me? What is this, caste segregation?"

"He went into heat. Fear got him out of control."

"What?!" exclaimed Toxin loudly. "He must be terrified to the extreme here. We must leave him alone!"

"He's extremely cooperative in his condition."

"You abuse his weakened state. He must be left alone like the others!"

"He's a prisoner."

"He's an alpha in heat, and there are omegas here! He needs to be put somewhere else, quiet."

"Toxin."

"He deserves to be treated like us during this heat!"

"Speaking of that," interjected Nyx drawing attention to the father of Minndt.

"Yes?"

"Can we go somewhere else, or will we have to stay in the same room as Day and Foud? No, because here, the fact that we lied will be the least of your worries, I guarantee it. It's tomorrow, June 5th..."

"So try to approach me while you're in heat, and you'll end up with your genitals," aggressively threatened Foud.

"You see."

"I was coming for that at the base to take you to your room."

"Oh, great, so I'm reassured."

"Because your crotch will remain full?"

"Partly yes. Getting back to the Duke..."

"Ten minutes and you don't get home one by one. Day and Foud stay here."

"Caste segregation!" the latter protested vehemently.

"Okay."

Foud glared at the flaming god who ignored him deliberately, his gaze fixed on Minndt's father. Nyx watched him for a moment before sighing and waving them outside.

"It is unfair!" the Lightning God continued to protest as everyone exited the room.

"Would you like to come face to face with a horny alpha?" the god of spirit and feelings asked with a malicious little smile.

"I can face him!"

"How long? We can't put you in danger because you want to do everything like an alpha."

"The only difference is the pheromones!"

"And this is the problem with leaving an alpha with an omega. Omegas generally have less strength than alphas."

"EH ?!"

"The two of you stay here and wait for them to come back."

All out of the room except that Nyx paused near Day and put his hand on his shoulder.

"When are you coming back?" the blond asked, stroking his hand.

"I'm coming back on the twelfth, don't worry."

"Will it be okay?"

"It's not the first time I've had them. It will be fine. You won't have time to see that I'm gone!"

Nyx leaned over him and placed a tender kiss on his forehead before joining the others in the hallway. Leaving a slightly red-cheeked Day alone with Foud.

"That's why they've been sleeping poorly the last few days," the omega dark-hair said while watching the servants clear the food off the table.

"What are you talking about?"

"Others. Only Lou will be coming back."

"Wait, they all have their heat at the same time?"

"The months of June and November are common to alphas. Some have them at the beginning and others at the end. But in our team, they all have them at the beginning of the month, the fifth. It's rare!"

"Woah! And the other month?"

"Alphas with three months of heat are rare."

"They all have the third month?"

"That's common to the alphas gods."

"The same month?"

"Yes. It is handy to know when I will have peace, hehe. But now there are three of us, so we're going to have fun!"

"Until I get my heat..."

"Not with suppressants."

"I will have some too?!"

"Yes! It must have been a surprise but hey..."

Day got up from his seat and came over to hug him, much to Foud's surprise, who patted his back lightly. His surprise might have gone down the drain, but that was just a detail: the blonde omega was happy, and that made him too. The two omegas would be alone with Lou for the next seven days, but that would give them time to move forward in their research. Perhaps they would go to see Minndt, even if his father is against that.
