The shackles binding him to the demon god have disappeared temporarily. It is only temporary because the demon god still has an anchor within his body. He can feel the demon god trying to worm its way back into his existence. It is unfortunate for the demon god that it is not a contest of strength. 

The demon god remained locked out no matter how much it tried. This wouldn't be so if it were a contest of strength. He is nowhere strong enough to beat the demon god in any struggle so the demon god ought to be able to break past the cocoon that sealed him. But the rules have changed.
