Chapter 6: Day of the Hunt

It was time to hunt. With the traps I had put up the previous day, I had already made a few kills. The Majority of them were merely low-level creatures like hogs and zombies, worth very few points. After the others had taken rest, the hunt had started.

Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a demonic-like lizard. It had Scaly skin and demonic horns. The instructor also noticed it. It was a monster I hadn't seen in my past life, making me curious about what it was.

"You don't really need to worry about those." he sliced the air in front of him.

"Just cut off their horns and they'll be powerless." I nodded and began to run-up to the creature. It was looking at the corpse of its dead brother. I felt sorry for it. I couldn't keep these emotions, this was the reason for Lewis's death in my last life. I sliced the head straight off the lizard.

"Here you go. Have this berry, it helps heal your stamina." The instructor said kindly, but I grew suspicious of him. An instructor wasn't allowed to help the student until it was urgently needed. Without thinking, the instructor gave information like nothing. They couldn't have made such a mistake, they were executives of the association that had learned to never mess up. It wasn't time to think though, other monsters had gathered around the snow after smelling the beast blood. A bloodbath was about to happen.

It's going to be difficult, so you better get ready. Slash, the instructor said. I chopped off the first lizardmen's head. As I prepared to split the hogs in half, they began charging at me. Creak, Sliii. Since the slicing had failed, I scared the hogs with Assassin's Intent while I jumped to avoid the ranged strikes. With each blow, the brittle wooden sword creaked. As soon as I touched down, I sprinted for the lizardmen who were waiting nearby, moving quicker than a cheetah. I covered the sword in light mana with Blade Scorch while slicing the first lizardman with Dark Claw. I then teleported behind a monster using Demonic Shadow to backstab the next lizardmen and get a firm footing to run at the other lizardmen. Slice Slash Swish. The snow was enveloped in blood spurting out the lizardmen's body. With every slash, the air filled with bloody mist. The battle had grown longer and longer with more monsters and points flooding in until it was the last 10.

The 11 monsters included a mini-boss known as the skeletal sorcerer as well as several now-undead lizardmen empowered by the deaths of their friends and it was now. Night. Amplifying their power even further. In order to stun the adversaries before they could prepare a ranged assault, I sprinted at full speed while using the assassin's intent. I crept on the first undead lizardmen using Demonic Shadow, then I used the extra power to blast the ground, causing the undead to try and balance on the shaking earth. Making it more difficult for the other undead lizardmen to engage in close combat. I'll take care of some of the lizardmen while I divert the assassin's intent to the skeletal sorcerer and keep him stunned for longer. Backstabbing the lizardmen in front of me, I land on the ground and jump full force at the 2 undead standing next to each other. Cutting the 2 undead lizardmen at once using Dark Claw.

The ground had stopped shaking, just before I had reached a barren rock in the snowy plains. Hiding behind the rock, I used Demonic recovery to increase my mana as well as the damage which I endured using a bit of potions that the association had prepared for us. I wondered how to fight the remaining monsters with an almost broken sword, nevermind the leather armour, which kept me alive through the deadly battle. I decided to add the points from my levelling to the stats and also check the skill box I got for killing 100 of the lizardmen. As well as a damage and recovery potion from killing 500 boars. After constant killing, these last 8 monsters felt impossible, but if I couldn't overcome this then I couldn't save the world.

Make a 1 copy of yourself that has 30% stronger stats but with no abilities. Use cost, 50 mana.

I rested until I had five hundred mana and made a Copy Demon to distract the enemies. Using Demonic Shadow I teleported behind the undead lizardmen. After killing the lizardmen I grab a wooden stick on the ground getting ready for my sword to break. Running to stab the next enemy I use Dark Claw. I attack the next lizardmen normally. Noticing me after the attack it tries to turn around before it's killed by Blade Scorch. Using Blade Scorch again I make a thicker mana for the sword. I kill a few more undead lizardmen until the Copy Demon dies to the mini boss and my wooden sword breaks. The Copy Demon had killed 2 undead lizardmen and had only dealt a hundred damage to the mini-boss. Leaving 2790 health left for the boss. I ran around the mini-boss waiting for my cooldowns to end. I gained 50 more mana and now had 350 mana but tiredness was trying to creep in.

I gulped down my last strength and recovery potion and sprinted towards the mini-boss. Using Demonic Shadow, I teleported behind the floating skeletal sorcerer and dealt extra backstab damage using Dark Claw. The stick had broken, and I transferred the Blade Scorch mana to the stick that had broken in two. Using the sticks like a dual-bladed dagger I used Blade Scorch again to make an intense mana dagger that uses concentrated mana as a sharp blade. I stun the boss again using assassin's intent and attack with a barrage of normal attacks. I quickly jump back before the skeletal mage, exits the stun, and enter berserk mode. The sorcerer attacks with tens of Undead fire (A green fire that explodes upon touch and can only be stopped by a low-grade elixir.) which I dodge until one is about to hit me. Before I'm able to block it, it explodes and knocks me into a rock. It quickly attacks me with icicle breath and makes me able to barely move. It attacks again with undead fire when I stab myself to get rid of the painful frostbite. Barely dodging the undead fire. I Jump in the air. As soon as I land I rush for cover but am forced to attack with Demonic Shadow to avoid its attack and use Dark Claw again to bring its health down to 1300. Finally, being able to use Copy Demon again. The caption attacks while I take the boss's aggro and am able to dodge, thanks to memorising the monster's moves. The boss attacks the copy when I sprint and backstab the monster with Dark Claw. Jumping of the skeletal sorcerer only had 277 health. I again begin to dodge and with Blade Scorch I sprint towards the sorcerer I dodge its icicle breath by jumping while Hitting the ground with Blade Scorch to jump over the attack and kill the mini-boss with a critical hit Dark Claw. After the exhausting battle, I faint, falling to the ground filled with the records of a revolutionary battle.
