7. Frantic (Not yet Edited)

As Steven grappled with these questions, the heavy stone door suddenly groaned open. The old man who had previously brought the wooden basket filled with shimmering items was back, his eyes darting around their dwelling anxiously. He seemed to be looking for something, his hands quickly rummaging through the sparse belongings scattered around the room.

"That bitch," he grumbled under his breath, his voice filled with scorn, "Just how lucky can a fallen royalty get?" He then turned his gaze towards Steven, a sneer curling his lips. "And you, you little brat," he spat out, "If it weren't for your whore of a mother opening up her legs and letting her hole be used, you'd already be dead."

Steven, despite his tender age, understood the venom in the old man's words. His tiny fists clenched, he understood what the man was implying, and the thought of it filled him with a quiet rage. His mother, who had done nothing but care for him and love him, was being insulted in their own dwelling. And he, a mere baby, was the subject of the man's scorn.

His mother, a fallen royalty? Himself, dying? The words sounded absurd, yet the old man's venomous tone suggested he believed them wholeheartedly.

As the rage simmered in Steven's mind, deep down, he knew that what the old man said was real. It all clicked in his head why his mother's name sounded like royalty, why she always came home smelling strange.

Suddenly, the old man's actions grew even more frantic, his eyes darting around the room, his hands trembling as they sifted through their meager belongings. His breaths came in short, quick huffs, and he appeared more anxious, as if he was running out of time.

Steven watched the man's growing desperation, his tiny heart pounding in his chest. His mother, Lily Regina Henituse, was due home any minute, and the thought of her walking into this scene terrified him. He didn't know what the old man would do or how his mother would react.

Steven continued to watch as the old man's search grew more desperate. His eyes darted to the heavy stone door every few seconds as if expecting someone to burst through at any moment. The man muttered under his breath, his words incoherent but filled with anxiety and frustration.

Steven could tell the man was looking for something, something important that he hadn't found yet. The atmosphere in the room was heavy with tension, a tangible pressure that weighed heavily on both of them. As the minutes ticked by, the old man seemed close to admitting defeat.

Suddenly, the old man sprang into action, cleaning up the chaos he had created in his frenzied search. His actions were swift and deliberate, revealing his urgency to depart before Steven's mother returned.

Steven watched, eyes wide, as the previously frail, thin old man suddenly seemed to gain strength. His muscles bulged as he lifted the heavy stone door with surprising ease.

'Now there is no fucking denying it that this world is normal!!'

Then, as quickly as he had come, the man was gone, leaving Steven alone in the room. The heavy stone door fell back into place with a loud thud, sealing the room once again.

In the ensuing silence, Steven found himself grappling with the bizarre spectacle he had just witnessed. His young mind buzzed with questions and thoughts as he tried to comprehend the strange events.

It became clear to him that he had much to learn about this unusual world and its laws. He also needed to delve deeper into his mother's circumstance. Whore or not, he is determined to still love her as much as he is now.

'Thought, I could protect her when I was big enough.'

More crucially, he needed to understand the powers at play in this world, the forces that enabled a seemingly feeble old man and a thin woman to demonstrate such incredible strength.

His attention drifted to their seemingly mundane surroundings, the mining structure that served as their home. It was a simple place, but Steven viewed it differently now. He resolved to explore its secrets, to uncover what it might be hiding.
