Chapter 70: A Warning

Her hand presses the wand firmly against my skin, roaming slowing left, then right, finally stopping when she moves it slightly down.

"Ah, ha!" she blurts out. "Dr. Walsh, is this what you were talking about?"

He steps forward, craning his neck to look past her.

"Yes," he whispers.

Dominic moves closer to my side, cautious. I look up at him, his forehead knitted together. "Is something wrong?" he asks. Both doctors glance up at him.

"No, no," Dr. Walsh cuts in with a nervous smile.

Dr. Bradley cocks her head. "Do you want to tell them or should I?" she asks, her slight humor directed at Dr. Walsh.

Dr. Walsh smiles and reaches over, taking my hand.

"There are two," he says, his dry, papery thin hand holding mine. "You are having twins, Your Majesty!"

Wait, what?

Twins?

Holy Mother of God!

Dominic's voice booms into laughter, "You had us quite concerned for a moment."

"Well..." Dr. Bradley interrupts, "there is something that isn't quite right."
