The Start of Everything

I sat back in my chair and played one of my favorite games known as Grand Overlord. It was an action packed game where the main character is known as an Overlord and their job is to power up their main source of power, the Devil Crystal, by slaying heroes, romancing with their harem of corrupted heroes, Monster Girls, and other category of women along the way, or through events. 

Grand Overlord is one of the best selling games due to it appeasing to lust driven people like me. I spend day and night grinding this game for all the special endings, equipment, and skills. It isn't like I have anything better to do. I don't have a girlfriend to care for, I work a job that I absolutely hate, and I live alone. 

My phone beeped and I looked at it. It was my alarm for me to go to bed as I had work in the morning. I sighed and set my controller down. "Sometimes I wish I was in this game so I didn't have to worry about these stupid trials of life..." 

I got up to get ready for bed. I noticed I left my TV on and just said screw it and went to bed. I knew the game would be waiting for me when I woke up. 

....

The TV screen flickered. It was almost like it came to life on its own. The game deleted my save file and the screen shined a bright purple color. I grunted and turned over then noticed my TV screen then sat up quickly. The TV Screen showed text on the screen that I couldn't understand.

"What the hell?! My—" 

Suddenly, I was hypnotized and fell back into a deep sleep. Everything was dark...everything was quiet. I heard the hymns of the game in my head. Their soothing, yet creepy voices...sang in my ear. 

[All Systems Check...]

[Downloading Avatar...]

[Download Complete!]

[Transporting Overlord Raiju to Asina.]

I felt a sudden breeze of wind and slowly opened my eyes. I noticed the blue skies and sat up quickly then looked around frantically. I looked at my hands and noticed I looked exactly like the avatar I created in the game. 

"Where am I..? Wait— Don't tell me I'm inside this—" I started and stood up quickly. I looked around once again, trying to figure out where I was. 

"Good morning, Master." A woman's voice spoke to me from behind. 

I looked back and noticed a beautiful woman standing behind me. Suddenly, all my questions were answered. Because of this woman, I knew...I was transported into Grand Overlord. 

The woman who stood before me was a beautiful elven woman who had fair skin, long lavender hair, pinkish violet eyes, and an hourglass figure with large breasts. She wore a black and navy blue lingerie style top, a black and blue thigh split skirt, dark colored stockings, and black heels. She carried a staff with her and a floating orb on her right. 

"You seemed to be troubled, is there anything the matter?" The woman asked.

"Quite a few things...to start aren't you Aponshe?" I asked and stared at her. 

She nodded and bowed toward me. She stood back up. "I am Aponshe, your Dark Servant. Why do you ask? Do you not recognize me, Master?" 

'What the hell is going on? How am I inside Grand Overlord..? Why can't I remember anything?' I thought to myself. 

"Where are we for starters?" I asked. 

"We are in the World of Grand Resurrection. You seemed to have forgotten everything, so I'll reteach you the basics of your power and how everything works. First thing is first, you must choose your desire." Aponshe said.

[Choose your Desire.]

{Strength}

{Defense}

{Magic}

"Your desire is how you will start out as an Overlord. Do you want Strength so you can demolish every foe in your path? Or maybe Defense that way you can tank more powerful hits? How about Magic so you can support your army better? The choice is yours, Master." Aponshe said and waited for me. 

I noticed three Pillars appear in front of me. The Pillar of Strength, The Pillar of Defense, and the Pillar of Magic. I walked toward the Pillar of Strength since that is what I would normally choose when starting a new game. 

"Remember, Master...This isn't a game anymore." Aponshe said as she watched me. 

I paused and looked back at Aponshe. 

"The pain you will feel will be very much real. You may have a system and some aspects of this reality might seem like a game, but this is real life. Choose carefully. Your decision will reflect on how you will protect your army." Aponshe said and smiled at me. 

I looked back at the Pillars and stepped away. "Am I the only immortal one?" 

"Immortal? No. You are not immortal as you can still die. However, you can still resurrect as many times you would like. Your army on the other hand can not resurrect as you will need to manually revive them." Aponshe answered. 

I crossed my arms and doubled down on the Pillar of Strength. 

[Are you sure this is your desire?] 

"Yes. I will take Strength." I said.

[Very well.] 

{New Skill Unlocked: Deadly Strength} 

{Deadly Strength: Boosts Strength Stat by 100% and makes torturing prisoners easier.} 

"It seems like you've made your choice, but before we head back to your Domain I want to make sure you're properly prepared." Aponshe said and walked backwards then twirled her staff in a circle. 

"You're challenging me?" I asked. 

"Yes. If you can defeat me in battle, I'll know you're more than ready to go out there in the world and become the best Overlord you can be." Aponshe said. 

[Scanning Target..]

I held my hand out then a sword appeared in my hand. It had dark aura surrounding it. I looked at the sword and looked back at Aponshe. 

[Battle Begin!] 

Aponshe immediately began to fire bolts of dark magic at me. I blocked the bolts of magic and grunted softly. I looked at Aponshe then ran toward her. I slashed at her, but she dodged my attack then launched her orb at me. The orb hit my head and I stumbled backwards then groaned as I was blasted with bolts of dark energy. 

[Tip: You can deflect magic attacks by perfectly timing your blocks] 

'You're just now telling me this?!' I thought to myself.

Aponshe fired a barrage of magic bolts at me. I watched them and blocked, managing to deflect them back toward Aponshe. She dodged the bolts of magic and smirked. "Nicely done, Master~" 

I dashed toward her and slashed at her once again, but she used her staff to block my attack then parried my next strike then countered with a jab with her staff. She struck me multiple times by twirling her staff then knocked me upwards. I grunted and opened one eye. I blocked her next strike then grabbed her staff. I landed on the ground and pulled her toward me then struck her stomach. 

Aponshe groaned and stumbled backwards then looked up, noticing my next attack. I hit her with a roundhouse kick then knocked her upwards with another kick and slashed down, knocking her back down with my sword. She recovered and glid backwards using her magic. 

"You're learning quickly! Seems like that combat experience is coming back to you!" Aponshe said and twirled her staff around then tapped the bottom of her staff on the ground. 

[Warning! Aponshe's Special Move incoming!] 

Aponshe formed a field of dark energy around us then raised her staff to the sky. "Shadow Force!" 

I braced myself and groaned as I was knocked away by a force of dark energy. I recovered then noticed a wave of shadow orbs flying toward me. I managed to deflect the first orb, but groaned as the next few orbs struck me. Aponshe ended her special move with a beam of energy. I blocked the beam of energy, but slid back and grunted. Aponshe noticed an explosion and closed her eyes. 

[Match Over! Aponshe wins!] 

Aponshe walked over to me. "It would seem you lost that battle. You are still recovering from your transition, so I wouldn't be too hard on yourself, Master~" 

I sat up and groaned softly. I looked up at Aponshe. "So I'm not ready to move on to the next step?" 

"You've proved to be capable of combat, but you're not ready for the serious battles just yet. I will help you become ready enough to take on Elite, Grand, and Legendary Heroes. For now we stick to small fries and level you up. I can't be a higher level than you are and the same goes for all allies." Aponshe said and helped me up.

"For now, let us head to your Domain." Aponshe said. 

[Returning to ???] 

Aponshe summoned a transportation circle and warped us back to my domain. We appeared in front of a castle and I looked around. It was for certain a kingdom build just for Overlords like me. The citadel we were in was large, yet empty. It looked pitiful. 

"This is your domain. It doesn't have a name yet, so for starters let's give your domain a name." Aponshe said. 

[Please name your domain.] 

I tried to remember what I named my old domain, but I still couldn't remember anything prior to coming here. I crossed my arms and closed my eyes to think. I couldn't really think of anything that wouldn't sound stupid or corny. 

"Astarfall." I said. 

"Astarfall? That'll work~ Astarfall it is!" Aponshe said and smiled. "Let's go into your castle." 

I followed Aponshe into my castle and she gave me a tour around the castle showing me the different bedrooms, the many empty rooms that I could make into anything I wanted, but the main rooms she wanted to show me were on the lower floors of the castle.

"This is where the Devil Crystal is held. The Devil Crystal is your main source of power. This is how you Level Up. By using a currency called Souls, you can make this Crystal stronger. You gain souls by slaying heroes, but Souls aren't only used to make the Crystal stronger. You also need souls for corruption, summoning monster units, and powering up your kingdom and army." Aponshe said. 

"Are Souls the only currency I can use?" I asked. 

"No, you have other currencies like White Gold, Astral Dollars, and the most valuable currency, Grand Tokens. These are used to acquire more facilities for your domain, buying better equipment, and even gifts for your army...things of that nature." Aponshe said.

Aponshe continued, "Anyway, this is the basis of everything you need to know. If you think you're ready, we can set out in the first area and get you started on your journey. I'll be in the Strategy Room whenever you're ready to go."

I watched her walk off and looked around my underground throne room. I looked at the Devil Crystal and crossed my arms. This was truly my life now, I had more questions now...but I felt like the only way to get answers was by going through this reality.
