Grand Eternal Phantasy: I want to have fun playing video games

Grand Eternal Phantasy, or GEP, is a game released in the 21 century. It was the first VRMMORPG, a successful hit, and became one of the most popular games on the planet. The game has a fantastic graphic, simple and yet deep combat system, with many adventures that players can go on in the game and create a fun experience; it was no surprise the game became a massive hit. The game quickly creates many business opportunities for players in many ways. But all of it changes when it introduces a way to exchange the game currency for real-world currency; the game has now become a fast way to earn money for many people. Many guilds were made, and many had fallen due to how cut-throat the game has become. Hao Greval is one of the many players GEP; he belongs to one of the most famous guilds of all time in the game called Olympia, but he was nothing more than a middle-rank member of the guild and no matter how hard he tried, he never get the recognition that he wanted. No matter how hard he tries, the guild always seems only to pay him in a minimal amount or sometimes none. Hao starts to hate the people in the guild, leading him to hate the game itself before quitting it entirely. Finally, one night, Hao found an old video physical copy that he used to play a lot as a child, so he decided to play it again. Having a fantastic time with his old childhood game made him realise or remember the true purpose of playing games. Waking up the following day, he discovered that he had been transported back in time, where GEP had just come out and decided to give the game a second chance. What does he want to do with this new opportunity? Does he want to make an unimaginable amount from the game? Or to become the best player in the game? Well, no and also yes. Those are only his second and third priorities when he decides to play the game again. His first and most important priority is to do something people seem to forget while playing games: to have fun and have the best time of his life.

Ch 13: The Dragon Chain That Wrapped Around The World (3)

Rushing forward, Hao pulls out both of his daggers; he swings both of the daggers toward the nearest players.

All of the other players in the area seem to be surprised by Hao, who decides to engage in battle with them instead of running away, and due to this hesitation, Hao can quickly kill the first players in what seems to be an instance.

'That was fast. Look it like before; it seems that these are just normal players with low-level, and they only rely on numbers. And here I was, worried; I was finally going to die.' Hao thought

The moment Hao killed the first person, shock immediately spread through the entire group of players, who could not believe seeing how easy and fast it was for Hao to kill one of their comrades.

"How is that possible!?" One of the players shouted

"He must be cheating! There is no way he can kill us that fast!" Another one of them shout

Hao did not listen and rushed forward with new-found confidence, learning that this was nothing more than a group of low-level players; he was now more confident than ever in taking all of them head-on.

And like a signal goes inside their head, these players panic, seeing how Hao is now rushing toward them. Most of them can stand in shock because they do not know what to do next if they ever truly experience how PvP works in this game.

However, some of the players do not lose their confidence, still thinking that they still have the advantage in number, and also rush forward toward Hao, while the mage in the group also starts to cast their spells, while the support begins to buff those in the group.

Seeing that the comrade inside their group is also rushing forward helps build those who panic, develop their confidence, and prepare them to battle with Hao.

But before their sword can clash with Hao, he suddenly disappears from their sight, causing them to halt mid of their track, and before any of them can voice their confusion, a scream suddenly rings out from behind the line, causing all of them to turn toward the source of the scream.

They see the fallen body of one of their supporters, whose body is turning into particles of light, indicating how he is already dead, and what or who standing behind the disappearing dead body of the support is none other than Hao himself.

With the use of Backstab skill, Hao could appear behind the enemy's line and immediately take out one of their support, and with a smirk on his face, he cannot help but taunt his enemies again.

"I nearly forgot to warn you guys, so listen. I am-" Hao said while swinging his hand from down to upward before pointing at the group of players in front of him "-very strong."

The moment Hao finished his sentence, Hao ran forward again, and with superior AGI stat, he could instantly close a gap between him and the Asgard guild member.

Hao swings his fist upward, uppercutting the player and sending the player into the air; Hao quickly follows the airborne player with a jump before following his attack with one of his skills, Falling Blade.

Swinging his dagger downward with the skill, Hao sends the airborne players crashing toward the ground killing him immediately, with him all descending from the air with the swing and landing firmly on the floor.

Not wanting his enemies time to react, Hao dashes forward while activating one of the All-Kind Deriving Action skills; Hao's target is now one of the tanks in the group who was able to react fast enough and put up his guard and put a shield in front of him.

But even with his guard up, Hao did not stop and hit the tank with Rising Blade, which despite its name, is an outward crescent kick attack, in which Hao immediately executed landing squarely on the tank guard and due to the ability's unique properties, immediately break the tank guard right then and there.

Not only that but the attack was also accompanied by the cracking sound, indicating a Just Frame, which resulted in even more damage.

With the attack, the tank was sent high into the sky, even passing the trees' height. Still, due to the attack being enhanced by mana and being a Just Frame attack, all the other players could see a massive pillar of blue light reaching toward heaven, created by Hao's kick.

All players can only stand in shock and awe seeing the pillar of light that seems to engulf their friend making him disappear; when the pillar of light disappears, they can see their friend falling out from the sky, which immediately snaps them out of their shock and looks back toward Hao who had already disappear from their sight.

The next thing that they know is that one of their supporters had already been killed again by Hao, who took the opportunity when all of them were distracted to move toward another healer of the group and took that moment to quickly killed the healer.

But even then, Hao cannot help but admire and think about the pillar of light he creates with that kick.

'So much for a rogue.' Hao thought while quickly moving forward to the next target.

However, the ground beneath him starts to glow again in a familiar circle. Knowing what came next, Hao immediately moved away from the ring that was soon beginning to rain down arrows, but he was met with a fireball to the face, which resulted in him flying back a bit.

With the momentum suddenly changing, all the players also start to rush toward Hao, who had been knocked down to the ground by the fireball, and Hao is now quickly surrounded by players again.

'Dammit, I was careless.' Hao cannot help but think to himself.

Taking a breath to calm himself, Hao blocks a sword swing coming in front of him from one of the players with one of his dagger before pushing both his dagger and sword upward, leaving the attacking player wide open, which Hao immediately take advantage of and use his another hand to swing his another blade, before following it up by a vast fury of attack, before killing the said player quickly and swiftly.

But it did not stop there, this time, more circles appeared beneath Hao's feet, and this time there was more than one circle around him, making it impossible for Hao to didge the raining arrow. Hao cannot help but grin madly, seeing the situation that he is in, and despite his grin, he is very much nervous, and the grin is nothing more than a facade and a natural reaction that Hao has when he is in a bad situation.

'If block, all other range players would attack me while I'm blocking the arrow from the above, and even if I somehow survived, the arrow rains, the chipped damage would put me low enough for them to kill me. If that is the case, then...' Hao exhaled loudly while holding both of his daggers tightly, his eyes sharpened and looking focused on the upcoming arrows.

"I can do this! I can do this! I can do this! I can do this! I can do this! I can do this! I can do this! I can do this! I can do this! I can do this! I can do this! I can do this! I can do this! I can do this!" Hao repeatedly mutters under his breath while looking up toward the sky and seeing the rain of arrows coming down toward him.

When the rain of arrows comes close to him, Hao swings his dagger upward, intercepting the raining arrows, but there are still more arrows in which Hao also swings his dagger to block said arrows, and just like that, the process starts to repeat itself.

With a speed that seems impossible and with perfect precision, Hao starts to deflect the rain of arrows that are falling toward him. Still, even with his experience and skill, he cannot block all of the arrows because some of them start on his shoulder, thighs and arms.

Not only that, but the players on the ground also start to shoot Hao, seeing it as a perfect opportunity to attack him, while the close-range DPS can only stand there and watch with a shocked face seeing how Hao is trying to deflect the rain of arrows.

Even Hao did not falter and started to deflect the arrows that shot toward the players on the ground, but not all were blocked. Some began to hit Hao also.

[You had been poisoned!]

After a solid 10 seconds, the rain of arrows finally stops, and Hao is riddled with arrows, but he is still alive and standing while breathing heavily.

'Fuck, I might die from poison here.'

While poison damage does not stack, it only increases the durations; the time left on the poison debuff was enough to kill Hao if he did not have some way to stop it.

'This might actually be my first death.' Hao bitterly thought
