Recurring Dreams/Normality

My vision was blurred. The sounds of footsteps flooded my ears followed by a faint voice... "Get him to safety...." Then suddenly my eyes opened and I awoke safely in my bed.

"The same dream, huh? Get who to safety?" I said to myself while rubbing my eyes to help them adjust. My name is Aiga Demitrius and I've been having a recurring dream now for the past 2 weeks. Nothing more than the sounds of rushing footsteps increasingly growing louder. Then that voice... It sounds so familiar but at the same time so unknown. Today is December 6th the final day before my school's Christmas Break of 2 weeks. Currently I am a Senior at Grand Central High School. I wouldn't consider myself popular or unpopular but I do prefer keeping to myself outside of the few students I exchange with during class.

I began to prepare myself for the day by having a quick shower, then packing my bag, and finally putting on my outfit of the day. Thankfully at Grand Central we don't have to adhere to a strict uniform so I do enjoy that. Just as I was about to head down stairs for some breakfast I realized I left my Assignment on my desk.

"Better not forget my name on here or I won't even receive credit for it." I said as I grabbed my pen and started to write my name.

Today is kind of a big day. It's the last day before Christmas break and tonight is the annual Grand Central Christmas festival. Every year the people of the city come together to celebrate festivities in our Downtown area. I don't enjoy big crowds of people so I tend to not enjoy my time there but I go for the sake of my parents happiness. Despite that it's still a great way to start off our break.

I headed down stairs straight for the kitchen to grab a bite to eat before my commute to school. Just before entering the kitchen I could hear my Father and Mother exchanging words.

"I'm still baffled about the incident yesterday at the refinery. No survivors, just lifeless corpses left about the premises..." My father said to my Mother just before I entered the room.

"You don't think it could be....?" My mother paused as I entered the room. "Oh good morning Aiga!" she said quickly changing the subject.

"What happened at the refinery yesterday Dad? Any cool bad guy butt kicking stories?!" I asked my father enthusiastically.

My Father's name is Richard Demitrius. He is the Administrator of the Grand Central Detective agency the best of the best in the whole city. On a regular basis my Father shares stories with me about the crazy things he encounters on the job.

"So what happened yester..."

Just as I went to ask my father about the incident again he cut me off. I thought that was pretty weird of him. Most cases my Father has no issue sharing with me details and such. Whatever though, he probably just hasn't filled out a case report yet and wants to make sure all the details are correct before he shares them with me. I grabbed a plate from the cabinet and began to fill my plate with 2 eggs, 4 pieces of bacon, and a slice of buttered toast. So delicious! I sat down at our table and began to eat.

My mother sat at the table next to me and asked "So Aiga are you excited for the Christmas festival tonight? I'm running a charm booth! And I also hear that all of your teachers and classmates will be there as well." Bummer.... I thought to myself as I really didn't associate with many people from my class. "Of course!" I replied to my mother just to make her happy.

My mothers name is Alice Demitrius and for most of my life she has been a jack of all trades. She has been everything from School Teacher to Truck Driver. My mother really is incredible. Now she spends most of her days crafting charms at different schools. Charms are what she makes to bring good luck to people, although it's never helped me pass any of my tests...

I scarfed down my breakfast as usual and put my plate into the sink. My mother was nice enough to clean up after me since I woke up so late. I headed to the front door and put my shoes on so I could start off for school. Just as I reached for the door I turned to my parents.

"Bye Mom! Bye Dad!" and I opened the door. But before I could leave I heard my mother approaching me from the kitchen. I turned around and she stood before me then grabbed my hand placing a charm in my palm.

"Aiga stay safe today." To me that was kind of weird but I ignored it.

"Gotcha!" I replied enthusiastically with a smile.

I placed the charm into my pocket and then I headed out the door to begin my day.

My school is only about 15 minutes away from where I live so I enjoy walking there. It gives me a chance to clear my mind before and after school. The day was actually pretty nice. A cool breeze waved across the city for once. I put my head phones on and started walking to school.

Today felt different. I couldn't tell why... But I knew something was up. I simply ignored my thoughts and pressed on for school. Unlike my normal walks to school today I seemed to notice and appreciate my surroundings more. In the distance I could see the morning sun peacefully reflecting upon the Grand Central Hotel. A once beautiful and bustling building now sat untouched for many years. Finally I arrived to school safe and sound. On time as well!

Grand Central High consists of only two floors with my home room class being on the second. The school itself is pretty big but there's not many of us here. 626 students in total. And being a senior here means it's my final year and boy will I be glad when it's over.

The day was pretty normal. I got a B on my essay so that was pretty cool. I actually decided to hang out with my classmates Zachary (We call him Zach) and Nicolas during lunch hour. It was pretty fun. We spent most of the time talking about movies, one of my favorite hobbies. The rest of the time was spent chowing down on that delicious Friday pizza.

I opted to stay after school today so I could catch up on some more assignments for class. I left school at roughly 4:23 PM after finishing up anything and everything I could for class. My headphones ran out of battery due to me forgetting to charge them the night before. Satisfied with my progress today I decided to pack up and head home to prepare for the Christmas festival.
