35 – A Big Residence

Alan and his friends walked down the street after buying a few things at a shop and checking out Brunch. Like the previous city, it consists of several separate lands. But instead of using bridges, those things are connected with some kind of metal hooks. The existing gaps are filled with rubble that is combined using nets.

The path they walked was also made of those things. So the steps they take are slightly unstable.

"Do you think this is ironic?" Alan muttered when he saw a homeless man sleeping on the side of the road. "The people who come to this sky are those who are chosen. Officials, nobles, scientists, warriors, and those who contribute greatly to society."

"Ah, I know what you're trying to say, Al," Haruna responded. "In the end, many people's lives go down."

Yes, maybe like that homeless man or the street musician last night. They find it difficult to make ends meet.

Again, Alan remembered his former life. He had a decent life while still working but was in trouble after being struck by a disaster called unemployment.

Suddenly Celia burped hard.

"Are you really okay?" Alan asked the pale-faced woman. "You should rest at the hotel like I said."

The female fighter massaged her forehead. Her face showed no spirit at all. "I hate hangovers. That's why, after I tried alcohol once, I vowed never to consume it again…." She gasped hard. "I didn't take my pants down that time, did I!? In the past, when I drunk with my friend once, she took pictures of me bottomless! Luckily she didn't spread it!"

Alan fell silent with his eyes fixed ahead.

Celia's eyes widened at that. "No way…."

Haruna laughed. "Relax. This fine man prevents you from doing that in public."

"Damn it, Haruna." Alan chuckled. "I want to prank her, you know."

The female fighter snorted again. "Why did you do that to me, Al?"

"Well…" Alan rubbed his chin. "But eventually, I regretted holding you back from doing that. I couldn't feast my eyes on such a beautiful view."

Of course, Alan wasn't serious. He couldn't bear to let a woman like Celia be in such a humiliating state.

"My butt isn't a mountain that tourists come to for its beautiful views!" Celia snorted again but then mumbled. "Thanks for preventing me from embarrassing myself."

"No problem."

"But have you seen Celia's body, though?" Haruna asked Alan, but Celia flinched.

"Hmmm…." Alan glanced at the female fighter. "Should I tell Haruna about it?"

Celia shook her head hard. "Please don't."

Haruna narrowed her eyes at Celia's blushing cheeks.

"Hey, Al." Haruna's tone became slightly sharper. "Let's say you actually saw Celia's body. Do you like it?"

"Well, I guess I don't need to answer that question." Alan shrugged. "I've teased Celia too much, and we're almost at our destination."

Only a few yards away, they came to a large house with some cracks here and there. Even so, the yard is quite neat. There are no wild plants in sight.

They haven't even knocked on the house's big door. Someone opened it from the inside.

"Welcome!" Ziggy greeted them with enthusiasm. "I'm glad you guys really came."

"Are these the people you mentioned, Z?" A woman with short black hair and a gray bodysuit appeared beside Ziggy. She smiled at Alan's group. "As you can see. Call me Gina."

As soon as Alan and his friends entered the building, they were greeted by various people who immediately introduced themselves. Alan hadn't sensed anything fishy about them yet, but that made him even more wary.

He had not expected that there would be this many people gathered. There are 12 of them in total.

"Let's go." Ziggy invites Alan's group into a luxurious living room.

Some sat on sofas, including Alan's group, but others occupied the floor or tables.

"You guys…." Celia's attention was drawn to a man wearing samurai armor, complete with a helmet. "You guys have outfits that are different from what I'm used to seeing in this world."

Most of their armor and clothes are European in style, but each has a distinctive look that sets them apart.

This includes Ziggy's armor, which apparently has delicate lion carvings and can only be seen up close.

"The owner of this house used to be a collector of unique battle outfits… Sometimes even too unique." Ziggy explained. "Long story short, when I came to this world, I ended up taking care of an old man who owned this house. He was alone because the people closest to him died during the sky ritual."

"So, where is the kind gentleman?" Haruna joined in observing the outfits worn by those people.

"Unfortunately, he has already passed away due to illness." Ziggy sighed. "That man passed all of his belongings to me, so I decided to distribute the outfits to the players I met. The late homeowner didn't give any orders for that, but I feel wearing those outfits is better than leaving them in a room. "

"Yeah, we could level up better because of these outfits." The samurai armor user explained. "Well, although most of these things aren't anything out of the ordinary. The previous owner was more concerned with appearance than function, after all."

"We will also give you these outfits," Gina added. "And one more thing, this place is safe. The townspeople don't dare to come near here. They often see ghosts from the late residents."

"I don't really believe it." Gina chuckled. "But some of my friends say they've seen a transparent white figure or heard something."

"But it's true!" A small-status rogue snorted from a corner of the room. Her friends immediately teased her.

"Is the owner of the house a magic user?" Alan asked, triggering Celia to open her mouth slightly.

Ziggy's brow furrowed. "How do you know?"

"Just a guess."

Gina got up from the chair. "Follow me. I'll show you where those outfits are kept."

Alan and his two friends exchanged glances.

"But we haven't decided whether to join or not," Alan replied.

"No problem." Ziggy shrugged. "You guys can see those things first."

"I see." Alan leaned back on the sofa. "I have something to say before that. If you look outside, you might see a land in the distance. There was a wyvern on top of it."

The residents of the house were stunned, then some of them checked through the windows.

"I saw it!" one of them shouted. "There's a dragon... No, it's really a wyvern!"

"I hope you guys understand. This is just in case." Alan wore a big smile. His pocket has a particular device, and his friends also have the same thing. They only need to press a button on their respective devices if anything happens. That will sound an alarm near Brunch. "Please, it will be excellent if nothing happened to us. I don't want that fearsome beast to tear you guys apart."

Everyone, including Haruna and Celia, could only stay silent.
