Chapter 1

"Let's break up." said a beautiful woman in her twenties while she was putting on her jacket. From her expression, it seems she was incredibly dissatisfied with something.

While sitting across her was a male with a hint of Asian heritage. He's also in his twenties, with a mediocre appearance.

"My mother just passed away. Don't you think it's rude to talk about selling the farmhouse she left to me?" Evan Young said, and there's faint anger hidden in his reply.

"Rude? What is so rude about my words? I've told you before. The farmhouse you had was too secluded, and even if you're going to sell it, it would hardly fetch a reasonable price. Instead of inheriting a useless piece of land there for nothing, why don't you sell it to use it as a deposit for a home in the city center?" said the woman.

"No!" Evan Young harshly rejected her words. He has been tolerating her words for quite some time during their two-year relationship, but not today. Thinking back on how hard he was trying to keep her satisfied with her ridiculous demand made Evan Young feel like a fool at this moment.

"Fine then!" the woman said. Reaching her hand to the seat beside hers, she grabbed her luxury bag and started going through the content inside.

It was followed by tossing a jewelry box back to Evan Young before the woman left.

"I should have left you half a year ago. What a fool of me to think that you'll be willing to move with me to the city. You can keep staying back there at the farmhouse and manage that place that hardly had visitors coming once in a month."

"Just don't come and look for me when you're out of money and needed a few quid to buy your chicken feed." said the woman before she left the cafe.

The entire conversation was heard by all the patrons inside the cafe. But with nothing else to watch after the woman had left, everyone returned to mind their own business. A few people badmouthed at him for being a loser, but Evan Young knew that it was pointless for him to overthink.

After finishing the cup of Chai Latte on the table, he left with the jacket around his arm.

Evan Young drove back to the farmhouse located two hours away from London with his parents' van. His mother gave him the key before she passed away due to a rare respiratory disease that slowly drains her energy as she grows weak and old.

And inside the car is a beautiful leather book that was made from genuine leather. As for what kind of animal it was, Evan Young had no idea. All he knew was this used to be his father's most precious possession before he passed from the same respiratory disease.

But weirdly, the doctor said that he would likely be free from this disease because he had no similar symptoms like them.

*Dong!*

The van shook as it went across a pothole on his road back to the farmhouse.

This place was known as Rook Hill. While Evan has no idea how his parents managed to get the land deed to this place, he actually had the right of possession over this hundred acres of land. But unfortunately to him, only about ten acres around here had arable soil.

And since both his parents were plagued by that respiratory disease since he was young, he hardly sees anything were done on the land itself. Except for the spacious farmhouse with ten guest rooms and a venue hall, there's nothing else worth mentioning.

There's not even a need for a door or barricade into Young's Farmhouse since there's nothing here worth stealing. Even mice and snakes would skip coming to this place because there's nothing for them to eat here unless they had a taste for human flesh.

After randomly parking the van close to the farmhouse's entrance, Evan made his way into the house using the back door. It has been quite a while he didn't use that front door to get inside the building.

Lucky for Evan, this place still has all the basic amenities, such as electricity, water supply, and internet. And even if it was out, he could quickly start a fire as this farmhouse comes with a fireplace to keep warm.

After a hot shower to keep his mind fresh, Evan Young grabbed a pre-made meal he bought for the price of ten quid for three and stuffed it inside the microwave. This has been his diet so far from the day his father passed away.

Feeling bored that nothing is interesting is shown on the TV, Evan suddenly had to look at the leather book his father left for him.

"There's nothing written inside?" Evan Young flipped through the page and noticed that nothing was written in the book at all. Of course, even if he wished, it was impossible because the page itself was made from animal leather. Unless he was using something special to write on the leather, it would be difficult for the content to remain after so long.

But weirdly, on the second page, there's an identical door just like the one his parents used to forbid him from entering.

"This door... Was it not the storeroom dad and mom says I'm not allowed to go in until I own this farmhouse? How can the exact same image exist in this book?" Evan Young asked.

His curiosity quickly gets the better part of him. Holding the leather book in his arms as he walks, Evan Young promptly arrived at the door located just beside his parent's room.

"What is the secret behind this door? Why would my parents forbid me from going in until I am the owner of this farmhouse? Don't tell me... There's a secret beyond his door?" Evan guessed. He carefully touched the doorknob that seemed to be made from pure gold.

"This doorknob seems to be made from gold... Perhaps I can consider selling them if I need some money, hahaha..." Evan Young laughed and opened the door carefully.

Trying to touch the wall for the light button, Evan Young stepped inside the room carefully, only to notice that beyond this room was not darkness, but something more than that.

As per title, this is going to be a very calming book about fantasy and food. Please take note that the country, name, does not reflect on our real world, so please take everything as a pinch of salt in our chips.
