Can't Stretch The Surgery.

The little girl shook her head two times, "Not yet. Daddy just arrived."

Ruffling her hair, Guo Leiwu tiredly spoke tearing his eyes away from his daughter to look at Mrs Wu, "I had to go for an urgent meeting and got late. Right now, can you please check her up? She was all alone and the light was also not there."

Mrs Wu was a cancer specialist. It was mainly because of her he was able to find his daughter having cancer at the earliest stage and why Guo Yina was still able to move on with her treatments. Ever since then, Mrs Wu had been providing him with a treatment for his daughter at the cheapest cost and had cut off most of the cost for the medicines and therapies by paying from her personal account.

Having her own hospital made it easy for her to do so. Initially, Guo Leiwu used to be absolutely reluctant to let her pay for all of his daughter's treatments and was even ready to sell off all of his designs when he had gotten an offer from one of the clients in exchange for the hefty sum of money.

How could his pride let someone else pay for his daughter's treatment? It was like straight away taunting him to his face for being so useless.

But was stopped by Mrs Wu's advice. She was able to convince him to treat it as if he had only borrowed the money from her and to return it when he would be more well off. He was instead suggested to save the money for the post-recovery period as money would be more required at that time.

"I have told you several times to leave her to me when you need to go for some urgent work." Mrs Wu was a benevolent lady and as much as she tried to not get angry at him, this time she just couldn't stop herself from scolding him.

She knew this man sitting in front of her was one hell of a stubborn person who has gotten a pride as huge as Mount Everest but he needed to understand that letting his daughter stay with her in extremity was nothing wrong.

"I am sorry, the meeting came in urgency. I had thought I would be back by evening but somehow meeting ended up expanding till this late and I did not even get the time to make a call to you." Guo Leiwu weakly answered hearing which empathy grew inside of her as she exhaustedly nodded at him in return.

He was working this hard for her only, there was no point in making him feel more bad than he already felt.

"Alright I will do a check-up on her but before that have dinner." Getting up from the couch, she made her way to the kitchen and started bringing dishes to the dining table which was at the side of the living room.

Reluctantly he got up and picked Guo Yina to take her to the washroom to wash her hands. In a haste, he had neglected the fact that they had not eaten yet and Guo Yina could not be given medicines empty stomach.

Mrs Wu who was exceptionally happy to have a company for dinner tonight was glad that he did not decline the invitation like every time. She had been in the kitchen for most of the day and had cooked a good amount of food almost a feast but at the last moment, Mr Wu had to go out of the city for important work; leaving her disappointed and immediately drowning her spirits in water.

But looking at the father-daughter pair coming to sit at the dining table was enough to lift her spirits back. Hopefully, the little girl would get well very soon!

In a span of almost three years ever since she met Guo Leiwu, she had grown an instant affection towards the pair. Even her husband who was hard to please was exceptional towards the pair.

Instead of just treating Guo Leiwu as her client, somehow Mr Wu and Mrs Wu had started treating him like their child. Had their girl been alive today, she would be of the same age as him.

Observing the dishes served right in front of her, Guo Yina innocently asked, "Grandma Wu, is there a celebration today?"

Chuckling lightly, "Not really. But today is indeed a special day. Many many years back, today was the date when Grandma and Granpa Wu met for the first time."

"Where is Grandpa Wu?"

Mrs Wu snorted at her husband, "That old man ran off to his second wife."

Guo Yina was wide-eyed at this shocking revelation, "Grandpa Wu has two wives! Has he gotten married twice?"

Watching his innocent child express two with her fingers at the same time, Guo Leiwu facepalmed before throwing a look at Mrs Wu.

Mrs Wu was laughing hard hearing her interpreted version, more than what she said, the cute ignorant look on her face was what stole the show. After laughing to her heart's content, she held the little girl's cheeks with her both hands and planted a kiss on her forehead, "Oh Xiao Yina, you are so cute! And by his wife, I am referring to his work. He had to go urgently because of his work."

Listening to the explanation, Guo Yina did not understand why she referred the work his second wife with anger on her face at first and then why she was laughing at her now.

Elder people are so complex!

"Okay let's start eating! Xiao Yina there are certain dishes on the table which you can't eat but I promise after you get well, Grandma would take you to treats every week."

Obviously, Guo Yina got disappointed hearing that she can't eat everything but knew that being healthy was more requisite currently.

Taking the chopsticks, she started eating slowly of whatever was put in her bowl. She was still not good at holding chopsticks but because lately, her father had made it mandatory for her to eat only with chopsticks without any help from others, she had no other choice than to eat messily.

After having dinner, Guo Leiwu took the initiative of cleaning the dining table while Mrs Wu took Guo Yina with her to one of the rooms.

It was her personal office at home. Sometimes she checks the reports of her patients and even invite them to her home in case of an emergency during weekends so it contained everything required, even medicines and injections.

Making the girl lay on the bed, she fetched a stethoscope along with certain other pieces of equipment and started examining her. Taking the sample of her blood, she gave her an injection for the fever and painkillers; leading her to fall asleep.

Picking up the girl in her arms, Mrs Wu went to another room right beside her office and tucked the little girl inside the blanket.

Instead of exiting the room right away, Mrs Wu took a minute and sat down beside the little girl and watched the peace on the girl's face. How was she managing a monotonous expression the whole time when she was definitely in pain, after all, her nerves and heartbeat were running so fast?

Mrs Wu's eyes brimmed with tears. It was heart-rending to watch such a sweet girl go through so much pain at a very young age. It made her remember her daughter. She was also in a lot of pain the whole time when she herself had cancer yet she never complained.

Guo Yina's condition had worsened since the last time they did tests and was in urgent need of surgery otherwise it would be difficult to save her. Her body was growing weaker day by day and now the stage had come where if not given the injections every day at certain intervals; the growth of unwanted cells couldn't be stopped.

Caressing her head softly, she bent down to give a kiss on her nose. Leaving the room she went to the living room but did not find Guo Leiwu there. Perceiving the sound of running water, Mrs Wu entered the kitchen and there he was...washing the utensils.

Leaning at the kitchen counter, she let him continue washing the utensils before informing him, "We can't stretch her surgery for more than six months."

He halted hearing this and his face instantly grew pale. His messed-up thoughts immediately cleared coming to only one conclusion as he glanced at her. Mrs Wu was alerted watching his expression, "I don't mean that she is in grave danger!"

"She is safe but her body has grown weak and chances of dizziness, fever, pain, bleeding, unconsciousness have increased."
