A Crush Larger Than Life

"Nice! We made it in time. Better hurry and get our books before the bell for first perio-"

Goldie breaks her sentence mid-speech when suddenly, her eyes catch something amazing.

Walking by some trees in the gardens on the side was a dazzling bright sight. A glowing human too handsome for words.

His name? Ryan Muller.

The hottest guy in school, and Goldie's one and only crush!

He pauses, coming to stand under one of the trees. He looked like he was waiting for someone, but at the moment, standing in that garden, never before had Goldie seen a more beautiful sight… An unearthly handsome being, standing amongst freshly budding flowers.

Goldie freezes in her tracks.

Stunned dumb, she stares at him, raptured at the sight of the glowing human.

'Ryan… Muller…', her heart calls out to him.

For a moment, it seems that time stops to give credence to him, allowing Goldie's desirous eyes to take a firm hold of his glorious being; greedily absorbing every little detail of his pleasurable existence.

Silky dark hair, a dashing handsome face moulded in excellent mixed-breed slightly tan skin that can stop the heart in just one glance… topped by a glorious, heavenly glow.

His thick dark lashes hover over his brooding silvery grey eyes… His lips, perfectly natural and set in a plain, pale pink shade, lure her.

In the moment, he bites on his tempting lips unconsciously, deep in thought, sending the butterflies in Goldie's stomach amok.

Goldie's lips part and her little fragile heart starts racing uncontrollably. Her thoughts swallow her whole into a void of blank nothingness as her brain is momentarily shut down… freed of all reasonable thought.

There are no other words. Ryan Muller is pure 'Perfection'.

But even before Goldie can get her rampaging butterflies under control, her unruly eyes, yet affixed to this stunning human, scour their way downwards to be further enthralled by Ryan's perfect torso and alluring body frame within the flashiest of school clothes.

Who knew a varsity jacket could look so good?…

Well, the Hugher High school uniform sports jacket bore vibrant colours and looked super cool all on its own, but paired with Ryan's sense of fashion and cool, distinct style?

Of course, he looked incredible.

His sleeves were rolled up to show the lower portion of his veiny, strong arms, with impressive muscular detailing, showing traces of fitness and giving a clear reason for his position as Hugher High's best athlete.

Decorated invitingly at the wrists by several thin, male bracelets and a couple of rings, these were arms that Goldie hoped to one day hold her much smaller, more delicate hands, and perhaps, other parts of her affectionately…

…One day.

And the fact that Ryan looked extra special today, didn't help matters at all. Goldie cannot but stare at him!

Ryan Muller. The amazing Ryan Muller.

Obviously, this crush was massive and overwhelming.

___

Noticing Goldie's brain shut down mid-sentence, Jasmine turns to look in the direction of Goldie's gaze to locate what broke her friend's brain, with a slight idea of what or 'who' it might be.

She spots Ryan almost immediately, shining brighter than the gardens and trees behind him.

'Wow…'

For regular humans, that was not easy to accomplish, yet here was this guy, standing out like a fallen angel.

'Just, wow!'

Jasmine pulls at Goldie's arm.

"Ooh… look who it is!", she announces in a hushed tone.

"Ryan. Amazing. Muller! Boy, he looks good today… so unreal!",

"Quite like you…", she turns to smile at her beautiful friend, Goldie, as she compliments her, only to find that she is completely dumbstruck, staring speechlessly and adoringly at Ryan.

"Hahaha!...", Jasmine blurts out, thrilled by the look on Goldie's face.

Her friend was so smitten.

"Breathe, girl…", she nudges the frozen Goldie playfully with a knowing wink.

But despite her playful nudging, Goldie does not even flinch as she stares unblinking at Ryan, entranced.

"He's just so perfect…", says Goldie in response, not bothering to take away her dreamy gaze from perfection.

Jasmine takes another look at Ryan, and somehow, he seems to shine even brighter at that moment.

'Wow! How is that even possible?...', she wonders, her eyes widening in surprise.

"Yes, yes he is.", she says in complete agreement, nodding.

There was no doubt about it. Ryan was perfect.

In fact, the whole school would agree because basically everyone loved and adored Ryan for his athletic skills and exceptional good looks, to the extent that even though he was cold and detached half the time, every guy dreamed to be as cool and amazing as he was, and nearly every girl seemed to have a crush on him…

… not as big as Goldie's massive crush though.

"So… When are you going to tell him you like him, Goldie?", Jasmine suddenly asks out of nowhere.

Yup. Jasmine knew of her friend's massive crush on Ryan Muller, well, because they were best friends.

"You guys would make the perfect couple!", she adds with an excited smile.

Goldie was the school "damsel". In Jasmine's opinion, if there was anyone pretty enough to rival Ryan's good looks and unreal ethereal glow, it was Goldie.

They would be the prettiest couple if only Goldie could summon the courage to try to talk to him even just once…

"You should go talk to him. He looks pretty free right now.", Jasmine suggests to Goldie with an intrigued smile.

She raises her eyebrows twice, expressing her deep interest in setting up her best friend with her handsome crush as soon as possible.

"...What?!", Goldie exclaims, panicking at the thought of talking with Ryan.

"Talk with him?!... Are you kidding me? I could never! Just look at him!", exclaims Goldie, alarmed to hear her friend even suggest that she tell Ryan about her secret feelings for him.

"What? He's handsome, you're pretty… Why are you so scared?", questions Jasmine with a bit of confusion at her friend's strong reaction.

"He's way too amazing… too perfect!", responds Goldie.

"And that's a problem because?…", questions Jasmine still seeing no reason for Goldie's hesitation.

"You don't understand… what if I do something silly and embarrass myself?-", complains Goldie with a silly excuse.

"I can barely speak or act normal whenever I see him… how could I tell him?- I can't even say the words!

No…No. I could never…", responds Goldie, shrinking away, a cold shiver coming over her.

"You don't have to say anything much. Just a "hi" for starters, a "good morning" or a slight passing greeting with a cute little wave would do.", explains Jasmine, reasonably.

"How ever would you be able to confess your feelings to him if you can't even initiate simple, basic conversation?"

Yes, Jasmine knew just how big her best friend's crush on Ryan was, but apparently, Goldie would rather not try to even talk to him, no matter how much she tried to push her.

It was utterly ridiculous.

What was she so afraid of?

"Ah… I…", begins Goldie, looking for an excuse to not approach Ryan.

"Girl, you chicken out every day…", complains Jasmine.

"It's just a "hi"! One word! You can't embarrass yourself, even if you wanted to.", she argues reasonably.

"Come on, we're going to do it now." begins Jasmine, grabbing onto Goldie's arm to take a step forward.

"Huh?!..." Goldie retorts in shock, beginning to instantly panic.

Jasmine, holding onto Goldie's arm takes a step forward, but Goldie refuses to move forward.

"I… I can't-", she protests, wringing her hand away from Jasmine's grasp immediately and drawing back so that she remains rooted to the same spot.

"Just say hi and we'll walk past him… come here!...", presses Jasmine, trying to convince her friend to just say one word to Ryan.

Grabbing her friend with one hand from behind the shoulders, she starts to push the terrified Goldie forward, but Goldie, blessed with the courage of a mouse, would not have it and rather fights to stay behind.

"No!", Goldie protests in a panic as she spins around in an attempt to escape, but Jasmine does not let her escape her grasp easily and a battle ensues.

It is a hilarious, goofy battle as Goldie struggles to break free and run away in a cute, childish tussle.

"Haha! Come here!... You. Are. Too cute for this…", says Jasmine, in between silent groans and laughs, thrilled with her friend's funny reaction.

"No. No! Let. Me go-", responds Goldie, battling for her life.

As the two girls pull and push in their ridiculous, hilarious and embarrassing, yet cute-looking and hardly effective, teddy bear battle which barely lasts ten seconds, a group of students pass by them giving them weird looks.

Immediately, they break it up, fixing up their clothes and composing themselves like they were not just doing something thoroughly embarrassing; both exchanging silent, awkward looks.

They had forgotten where they were, playing out in the open like silly kids half their age.

The group of students, composed of girls, walk ahead, diverting onto the path on the right to approach Ryan standing under the tree in the garden.

Goldie and Jasmine's eyes automatically follow them, full of curiosity, watching intently as the group of three girls push their blushing friend forward, to approach Ryan timidly from the side as they wait with high hopes a little distance away.

Their friend, a pretty girl, dressed in cute clothes, and with her straight hair beautifully brushed behind her ear saunters towards an unknowing Ryan, armed with a pretty pink package.

"Whoa… it's about to go down", whispers Jasmine to Goldie, as both girls watch with growing interest.

___

"Hi, Ryan…"

A sweet, unexpected voice travels with the wind up to Ryan Muller's ears.

Ryan looks up from his phone to see the very pretty pale girl with black, straight hair holding a pink envelope out towards him, as she brandishes a refreshing, cute smile.

Her lips are pink and glossy from a thin layer of makeup that enhances her girly beauty.

"I… I have something important to say to you…", the girl begins to stutter cutely, slightly flustered.

"...I like you."
