Emma Sampson POV
"Adam, about your temper-" I felt him tensing underneath me the moment those words left my mouth.
"Didn't we agree not to go there." He said calmly, cutting me off.
"But we have to, since you almost killed the woman minutes ago! You're easily provoked Adam, and that's bad with your temper, I might not always be there to stop you from committing something drastic." I said trying to lift his head from my neck so that he looks at me, but in vain.
1
"Then they shouldn't do something that would help unleash it. Besides you're always going to be by my side, everywhere I go, haven't I make that clear already?" He said, finally lifting his head and meeting my gaze.
"There's no guarantee that I'm going to be always with you." I said, "One day I might not being able to accompany you on one of your meetings abroad, what will happen then?" I quickly added when I saw his expression changes to a rage-full one.
1
"What do you mean you might not being able to accompany me?" He said frowning.
"I mean if I'm sick or just not in the mood to go." I explained.
"The only time you won't be coming with me is when you're pregnant with our child, and if that is the case you won't have to because I won't be going anywhere. Other than that you'll come with me wherever I go, and that's not something I'll compromise on." He said sternly.
10
"Who said I want to have children anytime soon?" I asked playfully.
"We'll see about that." A soft amused look taking over his once stern features.
"Whatever!" I mumbled. I know his intention was to divert the attention from the original subject, so I went along with it. For now.
"I'll be going home today." I said after few minutes of silence, Adam looked at me for sometime before he nodded his head.
"Are you sure he's no longer there?"
"I'll have to kick him out myself if I found him there."
"Okay, I'll drop you on my way to the company. Mom said she'll be waiting for you today to look for a dress anyway." Adam said.
"Does that mean I'm not going to work today?" I asked excited.
He rolled his eyes playfully. "Don't get used to it."
I giggled slightly, "aren't you coming with us? You need to find your clothes too, you know!"
"I have an important meeting today, but I'm sure my dear wifey would find me one." He winked.
It was my turn to roll my eyes at him, he's just too much of a workaholic. "My taste may not suit you." I tried to convince.
1
"You do realise that most of my closet is personally picked by you, according to your own taste." He said in an 'are you serious' tone.
"And you do realise that choosing work instead of preparing your wedding with your fiancé may get you into troubles in the future!" I retorted in a playful warning.
He raised his hands up in surrender while chuckling. "I may even change my mind about being Mrs. Knights." I joked, but Adams form went rigid and his laughter ceased at once. He stood up and pulled me towards him, "you don't have any choice in that, baby. You're already Mrs. Adam Knights whether you like it or not." He said glaring at me before pulling me to him and kissing my cheek harshly.
Damn, he was angry, I have to do something before it's too late. I placed my hands on his arms gently, and started caressing them softly. That seemed to get his attention. "I was just joking with you, Adam." He heaved a relieved sigh, and buried his head in my hair.
"I don't like when you say such things, I hate the thought of ever losing you. I don't know what I'll do if I was to be ever put in a situation like that!" I patted his back slightly, comforting him.
1
"You won't ever have to, at least not until you're the one demanding I leave." I assured.
I felt him shaking his head, his stubble grazing my neck in a ticklish manner. "Never!"
1
"That's settled then," I said, breaking our embrace, "now come let's go before we're late. I still have to change my clothes too." I grabbed his large hand in mine.
"Does that mean you agreed picking my clothes too?" He asked playfully. Helping me changing the topic and atmosphere into a much lighter one.
"When ever did I say that?" I asked in the same manner.
He tried hard to pout but failed miserably, causing me to burst into fits of laughter. He then realised his failure and rolled his eyes at me before grabbing my hand and dragging me out of the house. "I'm gonna have to punish you if you keep laughing at me!" He said in mock warning but with a hint of seriousness to it.
I stopped immediately, not wanting to explore that area just yet. "I have to admit though that that scene was extremely out of the world." I said still trying to control my laughter from bursting again when I remembered his facial expressions at that moment.
"Why's that exactly?" He asked, curious.
"The mighty Knights corporations' boss Adam Knights just attempted to pout." A giggle slipped through my lips.
"What did I just say about making fun of me?" He said strapping me in.
"Oops, my bad." I bit my tongue slightly, looking at him.
He pecked my lips, chuckling himself before closing the passenger's door and going to the driver's.
"Won't you be late if you wait for me to change then drive me to your parents' mansion? I can drive myself there or Jeff can do it." I said after few minutes of comfortable silence in the car.
"Doesn't matter, I'll drive you there. You won't be sitting behind the steering wheel anytime soon, not after the last time, and Jeff is busy with something else for the moment. Besides they can wait for awhile, I'm the boss if I must remind you. I can come whenever I want."
Oh God, when will he ever let go of that incident! "Will you ever forget that incident? It wasn't that big after all!" I voiced my thoughts looking at him.
"You almost getting yourself killed is considered 'not a big deal' to you?" He was getting angry.
"It's not that-"
"Then, what exactly is it?" He glared.
God, he's such a bipolar! "I missed driving, I missed going everywhere I want without a bodyguard trailing after me like a lost puppy!" I complained.
"Get used to it because you're not getting back to that life style ever again. Not until I know I can trust you with yourself."
1
"What is that supposed to mean?" I was getting angry myself.
"It means that I know exactly why you did it back then, why you indulged in that shit a year ago!" He raised his voice.
"Oh, really! Why don't you enlighten me then?" I asked sarcastically.
"You wanted to get injured, badly injured that they would feel exactly how hurt you were when they treated you like that. You wanted to kill yourself to get back at them, the only thing you cared about was those worthless pieces of trash. Never once stopped and thought what I would have gone through, what I would do if anything happened to you! And worse of all, I didn't know that they were the reason until recently!" His tone was both sad and accusing. It made me feel guilty because he was right, each and every word he uttered.
If he didn't find me in the right time I would have been dead.
"You make it sound like I was suicidal." I mumbled. I refused to admit the truth out loud because then I would have to believe it, and that's something I fear the most.
"Weren't you now?" He asked sarcastically.
"I'm sorry." I mumbled feeling ashamed.
"You should be! So don't come to me complaining about losing your freedom or how you missed driving because you might as well have kissed it goodbye the moment you took that decision." He warned. "I'm not losing you ever, not even to your own self. I'll protect you from everything even from yourself." He added sternly.
5
"No even a chance that you might reconsider?" I asked hopefully.
"Not until you prove to me that you won't try to pull a stunt like that again, that I can trust you with my most valuable possession!"
"What is that?"
"You." He stated simply.
