Chapter 64 Divide and Conquer

Chrys looked at the smiling Immortals in front of him with a distant look on his eyes. He then said. "Your strategy is divide and conquer, yes?"

All of the Immortals that poured into the air all simultaniously responded. "Yes!"

After hearing their reply, Chrys backed up, and touched a building behind him.

The Immortals instict kicked in and told them. "An attack is coming."

As if to confirm their feelings, the earth infront of Chrys began to move, which then formed sharp spikes that seemed to move towards them.

The Immortals let out a deep breath as they stood their ground. The black translucent liquid that forms in their body wrapped around their arms and legs.

Once the earth spike was close enough to them, instead of blocking it, they attacked it.

A palm strike, a straight left punch, a low right kick, the Immortals showed of their moves at the spikes while looking as beautiful as ever.

Chrys watched from a distance while his hand is still on the building.

As if in response to the Immortals' fierceness, the earth spikes attacking them increased in amount and durability.

The once managable amount of earth spikes slowly began to overwelm the Immortals, as the earth spikes that used to be dealt with only one attack, needed two, and three, and four, and so on.

Everytime the Immortals hit the earth spikes infront of them, a golden aura revealed itself from the earth spike and blocked their attack, making the earth spike nearly indestructable.

Feeling that their attacks are being rendered futile, the Immortals took a few steps back.

They didn't run away from the spikes, but instead formed a line parallel to the earth spikes. The black liquid on their bodies concentrated into their fists.

As the nearly indestructable wall of spikes approached them, they let out their battle cry as they all simultaneously punched towards it, sending the black liquid in their fists to shoot forward like a bullet.

The fluid combined together and crashed into the wall of spikes. Not only did it stop it's advance, but also destroyed the majority of it.

Before the Immortals could get a moment to breathe, they're instincts kicked in again, and it told them. "Another one."

Before the attack could penetrate the dust cloud that formed due to the destruction of the wall of spikes, the Immortals already made their move.

The cautious ones backed away, while the bold and courageous ran towards the attack with bliss-filled smiles.

A moment later, the incoming attack revealed itself.

It was a projectile, a very large and intimidating projectile.

It's real identity is the building Chrys was touching.

The some of the Immortals that charged forwards, dodged to the side after seeing the building hurling towards them, while the others, continued their bold dash.

The ones who continued their advance despite seeing the building, survived the attack by jumping through the doors and windows.

While some made their own way inside by punching, or kicking the walls.

Once inside the still moving building, the Immortals inside rushed to make it to the other side of their initial entry point.

Like a bunch of children, the Immortals ran through the somewhat intact interior of the building while giggling and laughing cheerfully.

Once they made it to the opposite end of the side they entered, the Immortals broke through the walls with their devastating attacks.

They jumped out just in time as the building that was shot towards, the one they ran through mid-flight, crashed into the ground behind them.

The Immortals smiled as the dust that came from the building they 'dodge' crashing into the ground, covering their backs with dust and rubble while infront of them Chrys stood nonchalantly in the place, where the building used to be.

"Hmm..." Chrys let out a little hum as another wall of spikes appeared infront of him.

Meanwhile, in a place not too far away, Set stood up as the bandages on his body slowly got torn away from the debris of the building that crashed on him.

As the badages undid themselves, it revealed Set's chiseled, yet severely injured bronze-skinned body.

Set used his left hand to grab the metal that encased his right arm. He gripped it tightly, and tried to pull it away to no avail.

Seeing as his right arm is still locked away, Set focused his attention on the female Immortals that are running towards him.

"Hey, isn't he the one locked in the basement?" One of the Immortals asked without slowing her approach.

"Yeah, the one that we defeated earlier." One of the Immortals responded.

"Heh, so he already lost to us?" Another Immortal asked.

"Don't get cocky. We DID defeat him, but only after a few of our sisters were badly hurt." An Immortal reprimanded.

"So beat the shit out of him with all our might?"

"Yes, do it as painful as possible for our injured sisters."

Set calmly took his stance, with his right arm locked away, as the Immortals began their assault.

The first Immortal to reach him, attacked with a kick with her leg covered in the black liquid.

Set blocked her attack with the metal that'a covering his right arm.

The Immortal then used her other foot to push off Set, knocking him away a few feet while she landed with the others.

Set managed to regain his stance as another Immortal charged at him with her fist covered in the black liquid.

As the Immortal threw a right punch, Set met it up with his own right punch.

But at the last second, the Immortal dodged to the side with her tongue sticking out. It was a feint.

Just then, a bullet made from the black liquid made it's way to Set's right side, that was intially hidden by his right arm.

Set didn't even flinch as the bullet slammed into his side, only being slightly pushed to the side.

A few drops of blood fell from his side as the wounds he gained before the fight, slowly opened up.

Set quickly retracted his right arm, and punched the Immortal who did the feint. Set sent an upcut towards the Immortal, who raised her guard.

The female Immortal, who was significantly lighter than Set, was launched airborne. And before she could land, Set sent his left fist straight to her face, knocking her to the ground.

The Immortal pinned to the ground let out a smile as Set's fist was blocked by her arm.

Then, the other Immortal kicked Set aside and into a wall.

The Immortal then reached out for the one on the ground as she asked. "Are you okay?"

The Immortal that Set punched to the ground, grabbed onto the extended hand, and stood up while saying. "He's not bad."

The Immortal then raised her arm, showing a bruising where Set punch landed as she continued. "He acts unexpectedly, be ready to block at any time since..."

"He's a reckless fool."

As the Immortal said that, Set emerged from the wall with calm looking eyes.

The Immortals let out their smiles before theu began to charge at Set once more.

Somewhere within the many alleyways inside the town, Morgan is running through the maze-like layout while occasionally firing shots at the Immortals that get too close.

As she turned a right, one of the Immortals spoke. "How far are planning to run?! You're not seriously abandoning your comrades are you?!"

As the Immortal that said that turned the corner, she was met with a bright blue light right on her face.

Her insticts told her to dodge, so she did as she was told. She bent backwards as an arrow barely missed her eye.

She quickly regained her posture, but the moment she stood properly, Morgan transformed her bow into it's spear form, and was know throwing deadly stabs towards the Immortal's way while looking emotionless.

The female Immortal parried Morgan's spear thrust using her arms covered in the black liquid.

The clash was intense, but the Immortal managed to take a few steps back away from Morgan's range.

She smiled and said while pointing at Morgan. "Struck a nerve, didn't I?"

Before the Immortal could continue, Morgan attacked while using the full range of her spear, making it hard for the Immortal to reach her.

The Immortal said while parrying Morgan's stabs. "It's not a good idea to back away from someone with range, but..." The Immortal then looked up.

On the rooftops above, a few more Immortals are falling down into their alleyway. The Immortal continued. "They are less effective when there are multiple enemies around them."

Morgan, after noticing the other Immortals presence, released a powerful stab at the Immortal, who then parried it off to the side.

Morgan immediately followed up with a swipe at the legs, but the Immortal's reflexes caused her to jump up in the air to dodge Morgan's attack.

Just as the Immortal was about to form a smug expression, something fast smacked her right in the head.

The Immortal thought it was the end of her, but when she opened her, and grabbed the thing that hit her, she saw that it was an orange.

She squinted her eyes as she shouted. "Argh! My eye!"

She backed away, and after rubbing her eyes a couple of times, she opened her eyes and looked for the woman responsible.

But when she opened her eyes, the only thing she saw was the other Immortals running down another alleyway with no Morgan in sight.

The Immortal crushed the orange in her hand, causing it's pieces to splatter everywhere, as she shouted at the top of her lungs. "GOD DAMMIT!!! Stop running!!"

Within the another alleyway, Morgan is running while a few Immortals are chasing behind her.

Because of the tight alleyways, the Immortals are forced to follow her in small groups as the massive group on the rooftops are unable to pinpoint her location due to the fact that most of the alleyways are blocked at the top to protect them from the heat of the sun.

"Graah!" One of the Immortals following Morgan then began to growl in annoyance.

"Why won't she stop running and fight as head on?!" She continued.

One of the other Immortals then said. "Well, the real explanation is that she is at a disadvantage."

"That's the real answer, but the fun answer is that she is afraid and a coward!" The Immortal shouted, loud enough for Morgan to hear.

Morgan didn't react to their taunts, and turned a corner as she continued her run. The Immortals followed her while giggling like children.

As they turned the corner, they saw a flight of stairs with Morgan on top, staring down at them with her emotionless eyes with her bow fully drawn.

Morgan then spoke as the Immortals looked up at her. "The Immortals that consists the entirety of the Crescent tribe..."

"Born with incredible potential due to the Immortals' tradition to only mate with strong individuals..."

"Far down their ancestoral line, they were gifted the blessing of the moon. Enabling them to produce a black liquid called Lucile."

"A fluid that enables them coat their body in a protective bubble. They have absolute control over it, but it can only exist for a long time if it's touching their bodies."

"Raised like with the other young of their tribe, under the watchful eyes of the Patriarch, and trained at a very young age. Due to this, they have a familial bond to everyone in their tribe..."

"Making the Immortals a strong individual force, but their real strength in their organized numbers..."

The Immortals down the stairs felt their egos being touched, so they just slowly walked towards Morgan, clearly enjoying hearing about themselves.

"The Immortals have survived, and fought in many devastating scenarios, yet they always emerged the winner or ends in a draw. This is mainly thanks to their numbers, and organized attacks. But..."

"There is one battle, where they suffered a great deal even though they were the winners."

Morgan stared down at the Immortals with her emotionless, blue eyes as she continued. "The reason they lost is because, they lost the strength of their numbers due to being bottlenecked."

The Immortals then realized something.

They turned, and looked at each other. Their count is only at the number five.

The others with them got left behind and got lost within the maze-like structure of the alleyways.

The Immortals then knew where Morgan was getting at as they stared above the stairs infront of them, staring directly at Morgan, who is pointing her bow down at them.

"Shit!!!" One of the Immortals cursed as Morgan sent a barrage of arrows at them.

Even though they were able to parry and block the arrow with their arms covered in the liquid called Lucile, they knew that they were slowly getting overwelmed.

Feeling that Morgan won't stop until they eventually get riddled with arrows, one of the Immortals took a deep breath and yelled. "Over here!!!"

Then, every Immortal on the rooftops and also the ones who were lost in the alleys, all followed the Immortal's voice, and was now closing in on Morgan's location.

As they continued to block Morgan's arrows, the five Immortals on the stairs noticed that some of Morgan's arrows are heading upwards.

They looked up, and saw that a stone catwalk is sittuated right above their heads with it's supports being impaled with arrows.

Before the Immortals could do anything, an arrow embedded itself into the last remaining support, causing the entire catwalk to collapse and begin it's hurl to the ground.

"Dammit! Sisters, move it!" One of the Immortals shouted as she tried to get away, but Morgan kept on sending arrows their way, keeping them occupied.

The Immortals continued to block Morgan's arrows as the catwalk inched closer to their heads. One of them thought. "Every arrow that bitch sends at us is aimed at a vital. Damn it all!!"

Due to not wanting to be shot, the Immortals continued to block Morgan's arrows as the catwalk continued it's fall.

The catwalk then eventually landed on them, causing a massive crash and a giant dust cloud to appear and show itself.

Morgan stared at the debris down the stairs with her emotionless eyes for a couple of seconds before she ran away from the scene.

After a few seconds, an arm extended from within the debris.

A moment later, the Immortal, who the arm belonged to, emerged from rubble with blood flowing out of her head.

She sat down on the rubble, looked at the blood on her hands and asked. "Sisters, are you guys okay?"

A moment later, the other four Immortals emerged from the debris with similar injuries. Some of them even had arrows sticking out of them.

They sat together as they watched the other Immortals on the roof tops, checking on them before chasing after Morgan.

"Aah, that one hurt." One of them said.

"Yeah, we can't protect our entire body. So, what are you going to do?"

"Bitch and moan about it."

"True..."

One them said while looking above the stairs. "She's quite strong, isn't she?"

Another replied. "Yeah, she is...."

They all looked up at the stairs with blank stares until one of them said. "She is a perfect gift for our brothers over at Nyad, isn't she?"

The Immortals looked at her as they smiled beautifully at each other.
