Chapter 3: The Rematch Begins! Kousuke Vs Katsuo!

Kousuke enters his team's locker room. Hirata walks over to him and hands him a slip.

Hirata: It's our next match.

Kousuke smiles as he reads it to be the team with Katsuo.

Kousuke: This'll be fun.

Kousuke (frustrated tone)- Still I would've liked to settle things with Ren first.

Hirata: Looks like we've been called to the Main Estate.

Kousuke: This is  in a while. Let's discuss some things first.

Hirata: Yeah alright.

Kousuke- Let's see about this.

Kousuke: So you'll be taking the Striker Position from the beginning. 

Hirata: I'm a bit nervous but it'll be fine.

Kosuke: I want you to be aggressive and go for the shot even if it isn't open.

Hirata: But that doesn't make sense. if the shot isn't open then...

Kousuke: It's fine. Just trust me on this.

Hirata: But...

Kosuke: Just be aggressive this match.

Hirata: Okay.

Kousuke: Alright! Everyone move out!

Kousuke and his team move out towards the Main Estate.

Kousuke's team and the others arrive at the Main Estate as Yoshino appears standing above them.

Yoshino: Do to an unforeseen circumstance a rule has been added to the matches that will follow on from this point.

Kousuke- A new rule?

Yoshino: During the match where Oriyamaru Ashina faced off against Tasogare Haruto the score at what would have been halftime the score was 2-1.

Kousuke- Huh? Ashina was winning.

Yoshino: However, at the 17 minutes and 35 seconds mark the game ended 2-3.

Kousuke- He scored 2 goals in under 3 minutes?

Yoshino: It was a hat trick from Tasogare Haruto.

Kousuke- Another hat trick?

Yoshino: He did this by using Augmentation on both himself and the ball. So as to make sure that matches are more fair this new rule was invented. It's also at the same time being implemented by the other countries as well.

Kousuke- So Haruto's Augmentation is so powerful that they needed a new rule to weaken his capabilities?

Yoshino: The new rule is that you aren't allowed to simultaneously use your Augmentation on both your own body and the ball. 

Kousuke- I get it. So now he can't teleport with the ball wherever he wants. That way he can't take the ball and appear in front of the goal to score.

Ren stands at the front of the crowd.

Kousuke: Ren!

Ren: I understand why you implemented that rule. It's fair after all. But how would you be able to determine whether someone is following that rule or not?

Yoshino: The science and development team have manufactured a device that can detect Auras and separate Auras from Augmented ones via heat.

Kousuke- Via heat?

Yoshino: Yes. We someone uses their Aura it seems that they let off a higher amount of heat than what should be compared to average players depending on their skill level. On top of this Augmentation lets off a significant amount more heat than Aura. With this using Heat sensors we can better observe and maintain the rules of the matches from here on out. However at firs the difference is very hard to distinguish so it took quite a while to notice it.

Kousuke- So their research has revealed quite a bit about Auras.

Yoshino: Most of this information was gathered from out team in Brazil.

Kousuke- Brazil huh? So the players out there are playing at a high enough level for this to be distinguished.

Yoshino: most of it came from the statistics of a single player.

Kousuke: A single player? There's someone that good from Brazil?

Ashina- So my technique won't be able to hide from this device. Well I wasn't planning on cheating anyways. I'm not like him. I'll earn my place at the top.

Yoshino: That's all I have to share with you all. Now get ready for your matches.

Defender Team A enters the field.

Announcer: Defender Team A is here. It's Captain and Augmenter are both Oyakawa Katsuo.

Striker Team B then enters as well.

Announcer: And here is Striker Team B with their Captain and Central Midfielder being Nozotsuki Kousuke.

Kousuke and Katsuo face each other ats the referee flips the coin.

Kousuke: Heads.

Katsuo: Tails.

The Referee catches the coin and places it on his other hand. It had landed Tails. Kousuke walks over to Hirata.

Kousuke: They're starting with the ball.

Hirata: So, what's the plan?

Kousuke: Well. Since they're starting with the ball I'll drop back into the defense a bit more.

Hirata: Alright.

Kousuke: Have the wingers tighten their formation a little.

Hirata rushes over the right wing while Kousuke does the same for the left wing both explaining the change in formation to the respective player. Hirata and

Kousuke then meet back up in the center.

Kousuke: I've seen the recordings. They don't have an especially good striker or winger but instead, they focus on defense and outlasting their opponents.

Hirata: Outlasting them?

Kousuke: Yeah. They basically play passively till their opponents run low on stamina and then they push into the attack.

Hirata: I see. Then they'll be...

Two Defender Team A players start at the Kick-Off as the whistle blows. Defender Team A pushes forward as they pass between each other making sure to only make safe passes.

Kousuke- Looks like it's more of the same from them.

Suddenly the Midfielder on Defender Team A bursts out into the open space created from a pass that drew in Striker Team B's defense.

Kousuke- Hold on he's that guy!

Kousuke races towards the midfielder as he tries to clamp down on him.

Kousuke- Whenever Katsuo's team scores. He always...

A pass makes it through to the Midfielder as he curves a pass to the striker who scores the opening goal as the whistle blows.

Announcer: Goal from Takahashi Ryuzaki at the 5 minutes and 39 seconds mark! All thanks to a beautiful pass from Miyazaki Sato.

The Score line is then made to be Striker Team B (0) : Defender Team A (1)

Kousuke- He always facilitates their goals. Damn, they watched our tapes and realized they won't win in a battle of stamina!

Hirata: Damn. Hey Kousuke, what's with him?

Kousuke: He's the person we need to crush.

Hirata: ???

Kousuke: You see. Katsuo's team is without any noteworthy players except him of course.

Hirata: But he just...

Kousuke: Yeah, this guy is an exception. With him being underestimated all the time and free, his ideas are able to dominate the field.

Hirata: So, he's the real center of the team.

Kousuke: Yeah.

Hirata: He'll be difficult to deal with for sure if he is then.

Kousuke: No. That's wrong. This guy, he's not physically capable like most players. But his ability to make plays out on the field is no joke.

Hirata: But still. With his playmaking.

Kousuke: Yes, with his playmaking he turns a team of amateurs who have no noteworthy capabilities into a functioning team that has run through this first test without much issue.

Hirata: So, you mean he's...

Kousuke: Yeah, he's like me. But he's someone that's subservient to his team's whim. I won't lose to someone like him.

Hirata: So, what should we do?

Kousuke: We're going to attack and see what their response is. If they get the ball I'll drop back and cover Sato completely.

Hirata: What if you can't?

Kousuke: Trust me I'll find a way to cover him no matter what. He won't be creating any more opportunities for them.

Hirata: Got it. Then let's test out their defense then!

Kousuke: Yeah.

The ball starts at Kick-Off again, this time at Hirata's feet. The whistle blows and Hirata passes to Kousuke who trudges upfield dribbling past several opponents. However, as he continues to push forward, he notices that none of the players are pulling back into the defence,

Kousuke- What the? Why aren't they pulling back? Well, I'll deal with that when I get there.

Kousuke continues rushing forward as he sees Katsuo right outside the penalty box with two other defenders with one on each side.

Kousuke- It's just him and two others? Are they this confident in Katsuo's abilities? I haven't seen them use this formation in the tapes. This'll be risky but...

Hirata catches up to Kousuke lining up with him on the other side ready for a pass. 

Kousuke- If you decide to group up like that then I'll...

Kousuke shoots the ball far towards the right and it curves to the left towards the goal.

Kousuke- I'll swerve it right past your tight defenses!

Suddenly a Dark Red Aura surrounds Katsuo as it extends towards the ball and his foot is dragged along by the Aura as Katsuo manages to block the shot as the ball is sent flying and then Katsuo returns to his original position.

Kousuke- Damn it! It's almost like his Aura forced him into the best position to block my shot. Is that his Augmentation?

The ball falls towards Hirata as he collects it and rushes forward as Katsuo desperately tries to recover as Hirata shoots the ball.

Hirata: In you go!

Suddenly the Dark Red Aura extends from Katsuo to one of the defenders as the defender is able to block the shot. That same defender is in awe as the ball soars again.

Defender 1- Katsuo helped me! There's no way I could've blocked that shot otherwise.

Defender 2- They did it!

Kousuke- What the? Did it extend over to his teammate? What is this Augmentation?

Hirata- How the hell did he?

Katsuo- Not on my watch!

The balls begin to fall towards Kousuke's feet. On the other side of the field, Sato begins to panic.

Sato- Damn it! Katsuo isn't gonna make it!

Sato begins to turn getting ready to run from across the field, but Ryosuke stops him.

Ryuzaki: Don't. Just cause that it's a three-stage attack that doesn't mean Katsuo will lose.

Meanwhile, Katsuo rushes in to try and defend the goal.

Katsuo: Damn it. Hell no! That isn't gonna happen!

Kousuke- The shot course is wide open!

Katsuo: What kind of turn of luck even is this for them to pull off a three-stage attack like this?

Kousuke Augments his Aura as a swirl pattern appears on his eyes as he kicks the ball with the most force he ever has as it races towards the goal with Katsuo barreling towards it like a madman.

Kousuke- This will tie up the game! This will be the equalizer!

Katsuo jumps towards the ball.

Katsuo- It can't turn out like this! I can't let us lose! Never!

Katsuo blocks the shot with his face as it soars away.

Kousuke: Damn it! Again?

Hirata- Huh?

Kousuke- What thee hell is this guy? He managed to block that?

The balls soars but then begins to drop as both Hirata and Katsuo rush towards it with both of them trying to recover it.

Hirata: I got it!

Katsuo rushes in and goes shoulder to shoulder with Hirata.

Hirata- Damn it! This guy is like a freaking Gorilla!

Katsuo jumps controlling the ball with his chest as he boots it down the other side of the field clearing the area of any threats.

Katsuo- We're safe for now. So I can recover for now.

Kousuke- How the hell does this guy have the stamina to block a shot with his face and still be able to race forward and steal the ball for a clearance? Katsuo... you're a god damn monster.

Kousuke rushing down the field scanning the field to locate Sato.

Kousuke- Where is he?
