Side Story 6 Kamijo Family's Circumstances

(POV-Narrator)

The day after Hikari retired on her duties as head miko, her family was informed about it. The details of her whereabouts and the reason of her retirement remain obscure.

"About the allowance, don't worry about it being cut off."

"That's not what I want!! Where's my daughter?!"(Kazehaya)

"My apologies, she ordered us that we can't reveal it. She said she will explain it herself."

The patriarch of the family, Hikari's father, Kazehaya froze to that statement. His anger dissipates and he starts to think. Ministry of Divinities should be higher than her in terms of command. He wondered why his daughter becomes capable of ordering them. After the men left, he looks at his wife, Hisana and her other daughter, Minari.

"That's not what I want to hear! Haah... Now, I get what she feels. You two are so easygoing, no wonder she is so serious and straight-laced."(Kazehaya)

"Don't worry about onee-chan too much, otou-san. She is more adult, compose, level headed and flexible than you. She won't do something that she can't handle."(Minari)

Her own daughter rebuke her which depressed him more. He can't defeat the female team because he is the only man in the family. The other daughter who should be on his side, most of the time, is not here.

"Dear, our child is right. Besides, our Hikari-chan is a teenager. This is normal."(Hisana)

"This is not normal at all!"(Kazehaya)

"I don't mean normal for normal people. She works upon the foundation of magic and mystics- the gods. We should put that on the probability that she is on another job with relation of saving the world. After all, all of us are living in borrowed time. We should be thankful. We are lucky enough to live this much peacefully."(Hisana)

Her wife eloquently explained it to him.

"Her disappearance for a day or two on her own decision. If she dies along the way, that is the consequence of the path she had chosen. The only job we can do for her is to ensure that she won't regret it, and to support and push her forward."(Hisana)

Though her words are hard to swallow and sharp enough to cut through his heart, he understands that her wife already resolved herself at the moment she left their home and at the moment she decided to remain as a miko.

His wife puts her hand over his and he saw her looking at her with smile and understanding. He realized he truly was blessed for having such a warm family.

"Mom! Dad! Onee-chan is calling using a smartphone! Smartphone! She never been acquainted to electronic until now!"(Minari)

Hisana quickly snatched her smartphone.

"Hello, Hikari, are you okay?! Where are you?! When we watched the head miko's ritual, it was Tsubasa-chan that performed it. Did something happened? I'll put you on speaker phone."(Hisana)

"Otou-san is here."(Kazehaya)

[Yes. I'm fine. I retired to my job as head miko.](Hikari)

Her usual serene tone proves that she wasn't forced on that decision.

"Eh?! That's your dream right onee-chan?!"(Minari)

[I fell in love with a man and decided to be one of his fiances.](Hikari)

They all froze. The two were just kidding. They never thought that will become a reality.

"O-o-onee-chan is getting married?!"(Minari)

"My,my, dear, our daughter finally fell in love!"(Hisana)

"You said, 'one of'?! Who is that man?! And where are you?! I need to check on him!"(Kazehaya)

They have different reactions on her statement.

Her declaration contains firm will and absolute confidence that won't bent to anything or anyone. she is more stubborn and resolute than him. That was why he can't refute her decision knowing she already contemplated on it many times before making that decision.
