Array Formation

A gleam of interest flashed in Long Chen's eyes, and he turned to the cold Murong Xuan beside him as he asked, "Murong Xuan, how long do you think it will take for her to defeat those metallic puppets?"

Murong Xuan raised her head in surprise for a moment, before she opened her mouth and muttered, "Less than 5 minutes. These array formations are common within the Great Families, and Xiao Wan Wan personally had a few of these within her own courtyard to play with."

"Array formations to play with…?" Long Chen nodded his head with an unnatural expression.

The Great Families were really a different breed. If not for the extraordinary talent blessed onto him, he would never have been able to defeat a single Great Family member.

As Murong Xuan had told him, it really took less than 5 minutes before she won.

The three metallic puppets had initially charged towards Xiao Wan Wan, who had easily dodged their attacks, and afterward she began to pummel them with her own fists.

Each fist strike she unleashed possessed unordinary power and strength, leaving the metallic puppets with no change to defend or attack.

In the end, the three metal puppets all laid on the floor with fist dents on their bodies, within less than a 5 minutes.

The disciples were unable to keep up with this quick pace of events, their eyes still wide in shock, and a bit of pity for the metal puppets.

Elder Wang had almost collapsed right there and then. He had heard about Xiao Wan Wan from his inner disciples, describing her to be a destructive battle machine in a little child's body, and to never to judge her by her cute looks.

It was only then he realized how true this was.

"Old man, do I pass?" Xiao Wan Wan stepped out of the formation while dusting off her hands.

"Pass! Of course you pass!" Elder Wang fiercely nodded his head and recorded down her name.

Damn! This time along had completely destroyed all the records set for the promotion test. The shortest time it had took, previously, was 6 minutes 47 seconds, with his record unbroken for a few years.

And the first one out of this batch had already left that record in the dust.

Xiao Wan Wan joyfully skipped towards Long Chen as she exclaimed, "Brother Long Chen, aren't I good?! Hehe, I managed to break the record in one try!"

She lifted her head while blinking her innocent eyes, and Long Chen simply knocked her head with his knuckles and said in a lecturing tone, "Everyone only gets one try. Don't be complacent."

Xiao Wan Wan rubbed her little head as she pouted in unhappiness, and she turned towards Murong Xuan.

After seeing Xiao Wan Wan's wronged look, Murong Xuan couldn't help but tone down the shades of coldness on her face, as she placated, "That was good."

Following that, a smile was revealed on Xiao Wan Wan's face, as she tumbled over to Murong Xuan, while throwing a glare at Long Chen as if to say, 'See?'

Long Chen gave her a white eye and continued to concentrate on the test.

Maybe because of the resplendent success by Xiao Wan Wan, the rest of the disciples all felt that it would be as easy as it look, and gained a few hints of confidence, and rushed towards the array formation.

However, the truth was always more cruel than it seems.

Most disciples all got mercilessly beaten up by the metal puppets, with some even breaking down and crying for surrender.

After all, not every person had the combat power to defeat 3 others in the same realm as you.

A great portion of the disciples of the Heaven's Pride Ranking all easily passed the test, of course while taking a longer time than Xiao Wan Wan, who had extraordinary combat power that they were unable to compare to.

Murong Xuan also went up, and surprisingly, she was only a few seconds short of Xiao Wan Wan's record.

The entire top 10 of the Heaven's Pride Ranking all obviously passed, with the exception of Long Chen who had not went up yet.

After a while, Long Chen finally decided to take the test. There was one concern in his heart, which was whether if the array formation was truly able to replicate his 6th Elementary Realm aura.

If it really could, then his cultivation would be totally exposed.

The disciples all sat up in rapt attention, peeling their eyes open and observing Long Chen's actions. He was the Rank 1 in the entire Outer Court, and they all wanted to find out how strong his combat prowess was.

Elder Wang also managed to recognize Long Chen, as he enthusiastically said, "So this is the famous Long Chen! The one who took the first rank in the Heaven's Pride Ranking as a new disciple! Truly as extraordinary as the rumours were like."

"Thank you for your compliment." Long Chen cupped his fists as he slightly bowed.

This gesture of his earned the Elder Wang's appreciation, whose smile became lot wider.

"Long Chen, you can enter now." Elder Wang patted Long Chen on his shoulders as he said.

As he walked inside the array formation, the rays of light also enveloped him. Long Chen guessed that this was how the formation detected the cultivators' cultivation before they made a replicate of it.

This array formation was fascinating indeed.

The disciples all murmured to themselves, wondering how strong and how long he would take.

Only Chen Yu Liang stood there with a wry smile as he shook his head. He seemed to know what would happen next.

After the rays of light had dispersed off Long Chen, the three metal puppets that were supposed to appear did not show up, and the entire array formation started to light down.

The array formation had worked for all of the other disciples, but only for Long Chen did it not work.

"Yes, I am." Long Chen straightforwardly replied, while looking towards the array formation in confusion.

"This…this…I don't even know what to say anymore." Elder Wang stumbled on his words, as he looked wide-eyed at Long Chen.

"To be at the Elementary Realm at the age of 13, this is the first time I had ever seen someone of such talent. Elder Wang exclaimed with an unbelievable expression plastered on his face

"The Mortal Tier 11 Talent, is not that great, isn't it?" Elder Wang started to say, peering straight into Long Chen with deep, profound eyes.

Without waiting for a reply, he continued to say, "The array formation is only meant for Qi Refining cultivators and below to use. As for the Elementary Realm and above, it is not powerful enough to function. Most Outer Court Disciples are merely within the Qi Refining Realm, and we did not predict that any of them would be in the Elementary Realm, especially a new disciple as that."

"With your cultivation talent, you are directly admitted to the Combat Department without needing a test!"

Elder Wang then raised his voice and announced, "Due to certain reasons, Long Chen directly passes the Promotion Test!"
