Things I'm Worrying About

...CLASH!!!...

Both of my Dagger and Knife clash on the Herd-Wolf's forelimbs Claws making our position to be in a standstill.

Just like what the old man's said before, we have the same height when the Herd-Wolf is standing on its hindlimbs, that is why the Herd-Wolf's mouth is exactly right in front of my face and now trying to reach my face to bite and rip it off with its Fangs.

If I don't hold off its forelimbs Claws and push it back occasionally, then that will surely happen. And if we continue in this contest of strength, then I'm also to be the one that is going to lose at the end.

Well, thankfully, the Herd-Wolf is losing its patience and preparing to do something else to break our standstill.

...ROARRR!!!...

"That Magic worked for you yesterday but it won't work today!"

After the Herd-Wolf took some distance, I immediately sheathed my Dagger and Knife to prepare my throwing knives which are actually small knives that I found last night at the old man's warehouse along with other pieces of equipment that I can use.

The Herd-Wolf is planning to fight using an Element Ground Magic called ROCK BULLET.

If it is planning to fight in a long-range distance battle then I'm also prepared for it.

...ROARRR!!!...

...Swish!...Swish!...Swish!...

"Here is my answer to that!"

...swish!...swish!...swish!...

I keep running around behind the trees to dodge the rock bullets while occasionally throwing my throwing knives.

The Herd-Wolf stayed in the middle of the small open area to have a good aim at me. It will dodge my throwing knives simply by jumping away from where I'm aiming...

...Shriek!...

I hit him on the side?.. How?... The rock bullets are much faster than my throwing knife so why won't the Herd-Wolf be able to dodge my throw? Well, I can think of that later.

"Fufufu!... That is my payback for hitting me with those rock bullets yesterday!"

...ROARRR!!!...

...Swish!...Swish!...Swish!...

The Herd-Wolf got mad and started shooting its rock bullets randomly towards me. That attack made me stop running and hide behind a single tree.

It is probably trying to pin me down in a single location before it runs out of rock bullets and launches a surprise attack after, but he is not the only one thinking of a surprise attack.

I have been counting all the rock bullets the Herd-Wolf created with Rock Bullet Magic from the start and how much has been used already.

Once all its rock bullets are gone, the Herd-Wolf is not the only one making a surprise attack.

...Swish!...Swish!...Swish!...

"5, 4, 3..."

...Swish!...Swish!...

"2, 1... Now!..."

...ROARRR!...

With the Dagger in my right hand and the Knife in my left, both the Herd-Wolf and I run straight towards each other.

It would be another standstill if I just defended from its Claw's attack. So this time I'm gonna be sure to Parry its Claws and go after its neck which I could never do before.

...ROARRR!...

"Uwarghhh!..."

...CLANG!...

Yes!... I finally parried its Claws!

Now all that ia left is to go for its neck with my Dagger and Knife.

...CLANG!...

Ehh?!... My Dagger and Knife won't reach the Herd-Wolf. I think I hit something solid but I can't see what is it... Wait... It is going for my neck.

"Damn it!... It is already too late to dodge..."

...GROWL!...

"Fine... I surrender. It is your win, Herd."

...GROWL!!!...

"Yeah, I know... It is your 9 win against 4 of mine. Are you happy now?"

...ROARRR!...

Right now, the Herd-Wolf, Herd, is pinning me on the ground with both of its forelimbs while its mouth is in my neck threatening that he will bite it off if I don't surrender.

It is already been one month since I started challenging Herd.

After the first week in which he treated me along with Mister as an annoying scavenger who stole his food, the second week when he treated me as an annoying pest who kept challenging him and ran away after being defeated, he finally accepted me as a challenger after his first defeat at the start of third week.

From the third week until this fourth week, we keep on fighting for me to improve my skills even without the old man's supervision.

However, I was kinda worried if I really did become strong.

I remember the Goddess Visare saying that my soul has her blessing and I can check that blessing by simply looking at part of my body.

I also remember that I saw the Goddess' Assassin System along with many 0 points in the all-over status.

"I keep trying this during this one month of training so why can't see the Goddess' Assassin System again?"

Another thing I'm worrying about is my body.

Being inside this forest for more than a month, I kinda notice that my body is becoming dull and sluggish every passing day. Except for the time I'm in training with Herd, that is always what I'm feeling.

I know I'm getting my wounds healed and I'm eating proper meals at the old man's base but the feeling of dullness and sluggishness is always still there.

Finally, I'm worrying about the old man.

He stopped coming to my training with Herd after the second week not because he wasn't needed anymore but because his body couldn't take to cast Magic anymore.

The old man would cough so hard after casting Magic and even his strength to climb and jump from tree to tree is deteriorating.

What is more concerning is that he is always coughing nonstop while working on the medicine that might cure his body.

"Damn it... He is not even sure if that medicine can cure completely his body."

...GROWL!...

"Sorry, Herd. I can't afford a round two today. I need to gather the remaining material for that Mister's medicine. After this, he only needs one material left."

...HOWL!!!...

"Besides, that Big Boss of yours is probably calling you now."

After hearing a loud howling roar, Herd immediately went back deep inside the forest without even removing my throwing knife that still stuck on his side.

I guess what the Big Boss is calling him for is pretty important.

"Well, I got an important thing to do so I also better start moving now."
