God

It woke up after a long sleep, and saw the little ones in the nursery. It liked being in the nursery, where it was always warm. The little ones always seemed to be getting brighter, but they were not yet old enough. It was bored, and wanted to write, so It needed to find some of their older cousins. It checked the sash tied around the waist of It's robe, and finding It's stylus, which refracted the light from the little ones into rainbows, It set off. It drifted aimlessly for a decent time through the quiet void, avoiding some stones along the way. After a while, It spotted a pair of twins without any planets orbiting them, and stopped, surprised. It always found it easier to write with twins, since It could switch between stories easily, and without any planets to disturb It, It could write for a long while, even two stories at once. The twins were definitely aged, but they were still very bright and warm. It almost began to feel excited, but before It could decide which of the twins to begin with, It had to think of what to write about. With how bored It was, all It knew for sure was that It wanted to write something exciting. A story about...a soldier in a war, no, a hero among soldiers, who was brave and had conviction in the face of death. It decided that taking another look at death was a good idea, and so put It's stylus in It's mouth. With a finger from each hand, It reached for the twin closest to It, and gently pulled a strand of light out from it, letting it extend out into the void. Steadying the light with It's left hand, It touched the stylus to the strand, and began to write of the heroic soldier. Like everything else It wrote of, the soldier did not need to be given a name, because somewhere, they already had them.
