Samurai of the Dead

For a time no one said anything as Saya continued making out with the strange man, the only other sounds in the room being the whimpering sobs of Kouta. Of course, the main reason was due to how stunned everyone was at this development.

After all, this was THAT bitchy and bossy Takagi Saya, infamous throughout the school for her insufferable know-it-all attitude. No one doubted her results, she was undoubtedly a genius after all, but her superiority complex had isolated her from quite a few people in the past, with only a select few like Kouta revering her.

So, seeing her acting a like a meek little kitten in the hands of the mysterious, and handsome, stranger, the crowd of spectators couldn't help but have their curiosity peaked. However, they would have to wait a bit longer for answers as a round of horrendous coughing drew everyone's attention back to the dying Kazu Ishii.

"Right. Forgot you were dying there." Alex said as he broke off the kiss and looked at Ishii, before adding, "can you take care of him Yuna? I want to see if the White Mage is effective here."

It was only then the group that had been following Saya realized there was another group with Alex, notably smaller with only four people, two of which they recognized. The other two however were completely unknown to them, though many of the female students had their breath taken away by how beautiful they both were, particularly the doll-like girl who was currently reading a book.

The other girl however rushed forward urgently, her braid swaying behind her as she hurried.

"Stay with us!" The girl, Yuna, exclaimed as her entire body was suddenly engulfed in light, before it shattered to reveal an entirely different set of clothes on her body.

While at first she had been wearing shorts so short her ass cheeks had been hanging out, and a thin white top with a split down the middle to show off the valley between her breasts, Yuna was now dressed in red and white robes while a decorative scepter appeared in her hands.

Looking up as someone grabbed his hand, Kazu Ishii saw one of the most beautiful women he had ever seen looking back at him, more concern in her heterochromic eyes for him than any other women he knew in his life. Even Marikawa-Sensei, who he'd literally given his life for to give her a chance to escape, hadn't even known his name.

Taking his right hand in both of hers, Ishii instantly fell in love as she seemed to pray with all her might,

"Esuna!"

Ishii was so close to death, that he imagined a bright light surrounding the beautiful woman as she prayed. The scene was so serene and beautiful that he felt as if he were being healed as he sat there, with the pain ravaging his body lessening drastically.

Ishii believed he was imaging the whole thing even as the woman then said as the light surrounding her intensified,

"Curaga!"

Ishii's entire body was bathed in blinding light as she declared that, and the remaining pain he was feeling disappeared entirely as he ascended to Heaven... Or not.

Instead of dying and going to Heaven like he thought, the light around Ishii died down to reveal that the numerous bite marks on his body had disappeared, leaving smooth and unblemished skin under the bloody holes in his uniform.

"Huh? I'm not dead?" He uttered as he examined his body, suddenly having marginally more energy than he had a second ago.

"It worked!" Yuna happily exclaimed as she let go of his hand, and leapt up and down excitedly.

Alex meanwhile nodded as if he had confirmed something, while Yami glanced up in passing interest before returning her attention to her book. Everyone else though, they all gaped at the miracle that had taken place as Ishii stood up and looked himself over in disbelief.

Finally seeming to realize that he was no longer dying, Ishii tried to thank his goddess only to see her skip back to the large and strangely hairy man, who then kissed her in front of everyone.

"Well done Yuna." Alex told her after breaking off the kiss, making Yuna sway her body shyly from the public affection, though there was a happy smile on her face.

Ishii on the other hand felt his heart shatter into a million pieces as he watched his goddess swoon in the arms of another man.

"U-um, sorry to interrupt.... But who are you? And are you here to save us?" One of the girls asked curiously, hope in her eyes after watching Yuna cure someone who had been bitten.

Looking up, Alex saw her and every other girl present, both in the office and in the hallway, looking at him hopefully. Alex smiled back at them, making their smiles widen before he said,

"Nop~e."

Alex ignored their shocked expressions as he conjured a cushy armchair to sit in, with Saya sitting in his lap while Yuna took one of the armrests and Yami sat on the back.

Then, with a snap of his fingers, Alex used Spatial magic to drastically expand the nurses office so there was more than enough room for everyone. At the same time all of the watching students found themselves suddenly seated in comfy chairs, while tables of food magically appeared before them as well.

Ignoring the dumbfoundment at the numerous displays of magic, Alex stated,

"I was brought here solely for Saya and her comrades, Takashi, Rei, Saeko, Shizuka, and Kouta. The rest of you are pretty much just extras." Every single one of the girls along with Ishii looked at Alex with horror at how little he valued them, while Yuna grabbed his cheek and pulled on it while saying with a pouty voice,

"Be nice." As she was chastising him though, Saeko asked curiously,

"What makes us so special? I never met anyone you listed before a few minutes ago." With Kouta, Rei, and Takashi all nodding in agreement, while Shizuka appeared at a loss from the conversation, Alex explained,

"Lets start from the beginning. I, the Dragon Emperor, am one of the few people that can travel to different worlds and universes as a part of an Omniversal battle royale. And in each universe there is a particular 'story', complete with a specific 'protagonist' that other universes may know about through stories and such." Pointing to Yuna, Alex continued,

"On the world known as Spira, Yuna was considered the protagonist as she fought to end the reign of terror by the being known as Sin. In this world, during the apocalypse, Saya and the others would be the protagonists."

Glancing to Saya as he trailed off, Alex planted a quick kiss on her lips before continuing,

"Originally I had no plans to travel to this world since there was so little for me to gain here, but that changed after I acquired an ability that put me into contact with Saya. After that I decided to come to this world to help when the apocalypse started, since I was involved now, and told Saya what to expect so she could make preparations."

As he finished speaking Alex took a plate of food for himself and his wives, seemingly not caring about the numerous bombs he just dropped on everybody as he, Yami, Yuna, and even Saya causally began eating. Eventually however, one of the girls sitting opposite them asked frantically,

"So does that mean you're going to let us die!!?!" Alex cocked a brow at her question, which merely worried the others around her even more before he said with undisguised exasperation,

"I never said that. I just said I'm not here to save you." Alex then made to stand up, making Saya get up as well as he removed numerous things from the numerous stores of supplies he kept on himself at all times.

"I will be in this world for one month. In that time you and everyone other survivor will need to adapt and learn how to take care of yourselves, so that you could either continue living once I'm gone, or so you can adapt to my empire if you chose to follow me. That doesn't mean I won't provide the tools necessary to do so though."

As he said that, Alex made several of the materials he'd removed from his storage float into two sets, before using Creation magic to give them form and enchant them.

One took the shape of a sinister looking Katana that was as black as night, with slight serrations on the edge that reminded those that were watching of teeth. The other set of materials began elongating into a pole five feet long, with another foot forming into a wavy pointed blade with two wings on either side.

The sheathed katana and spear slowly drifted towards Saeko and Rei respectively, while Alex said,

"This is Gōmon(Torture) and Rōzupōkā(Rose Poker). Both are made with the densest and most durable materials within every universe I've been to, and enchanted to never chip, dull, or break.

"On top of that the former has been enchanted to not only inflict unbearable pain with even the slightest scratch, but also has a slight chance to inflict numerous statuses upon those it is used on, such as petrification, poisoning, paralysis, even death, and much more. The latter however can extend and retract at will, allowing its weirder to even attacks enemies from afar, and can leave rippling waves in its wake to slice whatever touches it before it fades."

Even as Rei accepted the spear with awe and reverence on her face, Saeko had a look akin to ecstasy as she gripped the hilt of Gōmon and unsheathed it to admire the sinister blade. She even ran her hand along the blade lovingly as she did so, scaring everyone present with the description Alex gave them.

No one but Alex expected the sadistic expression on Saeko's face as she admired the blade, but even he was surprised when she suddenly re-sheathed Gōmon and knelt while seemingly presenting it to him.

"I, Saeko, heiress of the Busujima clan, do hereby pledge my sword and services to the Dragon Emperor and his empire for the rest of my days. Should I ever fail in my duty, I swear to commit suicide to atone for my sins."

Needless to say Alex was surprised that Saeko so readily swore her fealty to him, especially since they had just met. But in a way it also made sense as, despite her extreme sadistic nature, Saeko was also strict follower of the samurai code. So, rather than refuting or accepting her outright, he asked,

"Are you sure Saeko? I'm not a 'good' person or a 'hero'. I'm a sadistic monster that has slaughtered people in the millions, and tortured numerous others. Is that really the kind of emperor you want to follow?" As Alex spoke Yuna shook her head at him, already coming to terms by now about his habit of making himself look bad to others, mainly because he hated being seen as a hero.

Saeko however didn't hesitate as she stated with her head still bowed,

"My family has served and protected the throne of Japan throughout history. In the modern day however our duty has faltered due to politics, and we are now samurai without a master. To serve one so powerful would be amongst the greatest of honors."

Nodding in affirmation, Alex took Gōmon from Saeko's hands and unsheathed it manually. He then tapped the side of the blade on each of Saeko's shoulders, before said,

"Then rise, samurai of Asora."

Though it wasn't the usual Japanese ritual for appointing one as samurai, Saeko accepted it all the same since in one month she would no longer be residing in Japan anyways. But as she rose, Saeko also found herself facing a strange floating projection that stated [Alexander Morningstar has invited you to the Omniversal Chatroom. Do you accept?]

Seeing her confusion, Alex explained in a voice that carried to everyone,

"That is the ability that let me get in touch with Saya, a Chatroom that allows communication even between different worlds and universes. Along with that, it also possesses a quest and shop function, allowing the users to acquire points that can then be used to purchase new abilities and equipment. Naturally, I only extend invitations to my wives and lovers, but I don't think you'd have a problem with that, right Saeko?"

Even before Alex finished speaking Saeko had hit [accept], joining the Chatroom and cementing her position next to him as she stated,

"Of course not. I shall serve my lord to the best of my abilities in all matters. I am his property, mind, body, and soul." Saying her piece, Saeko then went to stand behind and to the side of Alex, showing just how seriously she was taking her position as his samurai.

"I wonder what Shizuku will think..." Yuna whispered to Yami, making the assassin look up from her book briefly as she too pondered how the meeting between the ninja and samurai will go.

Alex pretended not to hear the hushed conversation going on behind him as he turned to everyone else, and said while producing a number of small glowing spheres,

"Let's move on!"

After giving Saeko and Rei their new weapons, Alex had armed everyone within the room with the greatest item they could use at this moment, Dresspheres.

Starting with Saya, Alex handed out dozens of Dresspheres to the group to give them a greater edge in defending themselves. The genius girl received three of the spheres to start with, the Alchemist, Gun Mage, and Psychic Dresspheres that would be boosted with her intellect since the Alchemist allowed one to create items in the middle of battle to fight, while the Gun Mage allowed the user to scan their opponents and use attacks specified for them.

If Saya put the two of them together properly, she could even create weapons capable of wiping out her enemy with little to no collateral damage.

Saeko was next, as she received the Warrior, Samurai, and Dark Knight Dresspheres. While she preferred to use only the katana Alex gave her, she accepted the three Dresspheres only so that she could have the extra power if she needed it to better serve her lord. When she learned of the abilities of the three spheres though, an interested gleam appeared in Saeko's eyes after learning what the Dark Knight was capable of.

Then was Kouta, who only received the Gunner Dressphere, but acted as if he had been given the greatest gift in existence as he immediately began trying out the different abilities it granted him. And with Saya transferring several of the weapons she had in her storage ring over to him, Kouta had probably turned into the most dangerous firearm user in this world.

Rei meanwhile received two Dresspheres, the Dragoon, which granted the user dragon-like heavy armor and a thick shield to act akin to a tank, while the Valkyrie was made lighter for more movement and speed, while also giving the user a small buckler on their left arm to deflect attacks without getting in the way of using their spear.

The Dressphere Takashi received though was a recently developed one that was rather.....unique. It was a sphere called the Yankee, dressing the user like the thugs that could occasionally be found in Japan, and arming them with a powerful metal bat. This particular sphere granted the user a power Hajime had called 'guts', or 'fighting spirit', which increased the user's strength the longer the fight went on, and the more damage they took.

Then there was Shizuka, the most surprising out of everyone. Naturally she got the White Mage Dressphere due to her position as a nurse, but she also received the Black Mage sphere as well so she could obtain some offensive ability. What was surprising was that after those two, Alex also ended up giving her a third Dressphere to see how she'd do with that one as well, the Paladin.

They quickly ended up with an overly excited Shizuka who was swinging around a giant hammer with glee, and was given enough strength from the Dressphere to send even vehicles flying with a single swing. And with the Paladin's capability of using White Mage spells as well, she was also able to perform her healing at the same time with slightly less effectiveness than when using the other sphere.

After the 'main cast' had received their new Dresspheres, Yuna had begun teaching them how to use them as the rest of the girls, along with Ishii, also obtained their own sphere.

The mopey environment from when Alex said he wasn't there to save them had disappeared entirely as they did what he told them, and adapted as they learned how to fight. It didn't mean that they were prepared to enter battle, but they were all certainly a bit better off than they had been beforehand.

With Alex distorting time within the room to give them all a few hours to practice their new abilities, the man himself was busying himself with some VERY important business that was crucial to everyone's survival.

Only those around Alex and Saya knew what was actually happening as they all turned towards the canopied bed with various reactions. The latter however would look at Rei nervously, scared of the idea of her joining the growing trend of becoming a part of Alex's harem as more and more girls were whispering about that as Saya's screams continued.

Yami just shook her head at their actions, before sending Alex a message through the Chatroom telling him he was interrupting their training with how loud they were being.

Soon a number of magic circles appeared around the bed that silenced the noises entirely, but since they could still see the bed moving it was still hard to get them all to focus. So naturally, Yami decided to beat some attention into each of them, as her golden hair started to move around her.

When Alex and Saya finally exited the bed they were immediately the center of attention, which didn't bother Alex, but Saya's entire face turned red clear down her neck, as she only just recalled how loud she had been.

The usually proud genius then proceeded to bury her face into Alex's fur, making him chuckle as he rubbed her back comfortingly. He then said to all of them,

"Ok, now that you've had some time to familiarize yourself with the Dresspheres it's time we got moving. The plan is to head to the Takagi manor, where Saya's parents should have set up fortifications and such. But I'm not planning to get there for another two days, so if anyone's home is on the way we can check in on their parents."

Though he could just use the key to transfer them all there instantly, Alex wanted to wait before heading to the Takagi manor to allow the virus to spread. As he had told everyone else previously, he had no plans to actively save people from the virus currently ravaging them.

If he waited a few days though, then the people that would be left are mostly those with the survival instincts and skills to survive, for the most part. Alex would then give them weapons or Dresspheres like the students, and send them on their way to the Takagi manor themselves unless something prevented them from leaving.

"How are we going to get there though?" One of the students asked, before Shizuka said,

"I have a car!"

"Will it fit all of us?" Saeko asked with a bit of humor, making the ditzy nurse flinch as she thought about her little Volkswagen bug.

With roughly forty people they would be hard pressed to find a vehicle that would fit them all, but Alex provided yet again as he said, "Don't worry, my car has enough room for everyone, and then some as we check on people's families."

A sigh of relief went through the large group, until he stated in an authoritative tone,

"Now form up and get ready to move. Yuna, Yami and I won't help you guys fight, so it'll all be up to you." Numerous students gulped as they prepared for battle, in which Saeko immediately started barking orders at them.

Soon the group had lined up so that all of the ranged fighters, like the Black and White Mages, Gunners, and Psychics, were in the middle while most of the close quarters fighters were clustered to the front and rear ends of the group, in case they got surrounded. Alex nodded in approval as he watched Saeko guide the students into their positions, before she personally led them back out into the hallway.

Sending Yami and Yuna out to keep an eye on them, Alex watched the group file out of the room before grabbing a certain someone by the scruff of their neck.

"Not you. I think we need to have a little chat." Alex told her, as Rei looked up at him quizzically.

But when Takashi looked back at her with concern, she quickly clung to Alex's arm like they were a lovey-dovey couple, making him grimace before he too exited the room as he followed the group.

Closing the door behind him, Alex turned towards Rei as she grew nervous from them being alone now. He then surprised her by saying with a stern tone, "I don't like being used, Rei."

Rei looked up at Alex confusedly at that, before he elaborated,

"I've noticed you trying to use me to get at Takashi, and I don't like it. I don't care for that type of drama, so either you're mine for good, or you go back to Takashi." Rei blinked at that before she asked sheepishly,

"Was I that obvious?" Alex nodded as he told her,

"Yes, you were." Flinching slightly, Rei then clenched her fists as she said with a voice full of frustration,

"I can't help it. Every time I look at Takashi, all I see is him bashing Hisashi's head in. I know he had turned into one of Them, but I still can't help but think he was just mad at Hisashi because we were dating...." Alex's brow twitched as he listened to her talk, before he sighed in exasperation.

Rei was perhaps the only girl from this world he didn't actively want to get involved with, purely due to the drama that came with her. He didn't have the patience for her flip-flopping at the drop of a hat, so he decided to nip the problem in the bud right then and there.

"Hold out your hand Rei." Though confused, Rei did as Alex requested and held out one hand while the other gripped Rōzupōkā, only for him to place two small items into it. Looking as he pulled his hand away, Rei only saw two dice, one red and the other blue, both with twenty sides on them.

"Roll them." Alex ordered her, increasing Rei's confusion even as she did what he commanded.

For a moment all either of them could hear was the clattering of the dice as they skipped across the table Rei tossed them on, before coming to a stop. Just as she was about to ask what the two numbers were supposed to mean, Rei jumped back in surprised as they suddenly lit up, before projecting two halves of a sentence.

Alex deadpanned at her before stating in a controlled voice,

"I am not some worthless virgin schoolboy. I literally have several HUNDRED women I fuck on a nightly basis, and thousands more dying to have me impale them on my cock. If I wanted to take advantage of you I wouldn't pussy-foot like this, I'd strip you naked and bend you over the desk before fucking you into submission. Rei was silent as she contemplated what Alex said, before she tossed the dice onto the table a second time. She didn't understand why Alex was making her jump through all these hoops since he'd so easily accepted Saya and Saeko, but she'd prove that she wasn't motivated only by wanting to hurt Takashi.

As the dice came to a stop though, Rei turn turned to look at them before her complexion paled at what they said she'd have to do, while Alex also appeared slightly surprised. Instead of taking any mercy on her though, he just looked at Rei and asked,

"So?"

On the other side of the door the rest of the students were somewhat anxious after Alex failed to follow them, making them wonder what he was doing after sending them out to fight by themselves. One person in particular was more worried than everyone else, as Takashi uttered,

"What the hell is she thinking...?" Since this all began he'd been trying to help Rei stay alive, but all his efforts seemed to have repeatedly blown up in his face, wth the biggest one of course being Hisashi's death.

It wasn't Takashi's fault though, he had tried to get the guy to use a weapon, but he insisted on relying on his martial arts. Then he had gotten himself bitten, and Takashi had to bash his head in before he could kill Rei.

And then Alex had shown up, and Rei had begun hanging onto him after burning Hisashi's body.

Takashi clenched his fists in frustration, swearing that he'd try to find some way to get Rei to forgive him, when the door to the nurses office opened yet again less than a minute later.

"Rei-!" Takashi began as she walked out, only to halt mid-sentence when he saw her as every single person gaped at her current appearance.
