God Save the King

In Britain's long history many wars and conquests have been fought against many cultures and peoples, from the Jacobite's of the Highlands to the Zulus of Natal, the Afghans, to the Mauri - the sun truly never set on the British empire. But of all the wars waged across God's earth, none were quite as fantastical as the War of Atlantica and the establishment of New Haven as Britannia's new crown jewel.

Thursday 3rd July 1902

The 3rd July is often discussed as an important day for the empire and especially in regard to the forgotten war, as this was the first official confirmation of new land discovered or more so spotted off the coast of Ireland – though what officials expected and what they eventually found couldn't have been any further apart.

The following is an extract from the daily 'God Save the King' newspaper publish on the 3rd July in the evening edition of the paper.

"-

New land found! Claim over islands made by government overnight.

Off the coast of Connaught, a fishing vessel has returned back to shore with tales of land, roughly 500 KM away from the Irish shoreline.

The vessel known as the 'Seaman Stains' had been caught by a storm on the night of Monday 30th June. The ship had eventually reached an unknown shoreline, with only 3 out of the 5 men returning back to Ireland from the encounter.

The captain and owner of the ship, James Kelly, stated; "After the storm had caught us, we thought we were goners, that was until we had come across some kind of island."

Kelly and his fellow sailors had found a wooden dock and pulled into port, only after they got off of the vessel did local inhabitants confront them.

"They were the queerest fellas you'd have ever seen," said one surviving crew mate, who wishes to remain anonymous, "they were all fancy dressed in rusty coloured armour – copper looking even."

"Once we were spotted, they started yelling in gibberish and started launching javelins and sticks at us, killing our Merry on the spot with Sean getting pierced through his leg."

Sean Ryan, aged 23, died from his wounds on the journey back whilst Merry Walsh, 29, had been murdered and subsequently left behind on this new land.

Many have theorised this to be the long-lost city of Atlantis due to its mysterious rise from the sea, whilst others believe the island to be Hy-Brasil, the long thought myth in Irish folklore.

The home office has made a statement regarding the incident claiming that an emergency meeting in the cabinet has been called and parliament is to be called for a seating.

Shorter chapter - please bear in mind that chapter lengths will vary and early chapters especially will be shorter, the next few however will no doubt be larger and thus will take longer to write. Thank you.
