What Threatened the Chaos

*Ding!* *Ding!* *Ding!*

The sounds of bells rang bloody madness. They were so loud even books that Hazana put on the room's desk got yeeted to the floor.

"Smite the sky!" Hazana was shocked by how hard her book knocked, she almost jumped out of the bed.

"Hazana, let's go! We're off to the wall!" I came calling her shortly after, opening the door of our room fast and wide.

"On it, Your Highness!"

One thing I notice though, no matter how much of a fear-inducer the bell was, none of the Kaoma seemed to be bothered by it. Well, at least not the soldier. They probably got too used to it, to know nothing bad gonna befall those behind the wall.

"Is Kaoma always this ignorant?" Chiya got confused by their behavior as the 6 members of our team ran through the street.

"They just got too comfortable with the safety provided by the soldier and the Guild," I replied while leading the team.

"Is this a bad thing or a good thing?" She responded.

"Both, but the situation could turn really grim if our enemy manages to breach the wall."

The stairs we used before were fully occupied with the rushing soldiers, so Chiya initiated a portal to the top of the nearest wall tower, while the dragon twins dive through the sand and lurk inside until I gave them the order to head out.

"Blaze me! That's a scary sight."

I saw thousands and thousands of portals lying low above the sands, with all kinds of void people continued to walk out of it with their weapons fully coated by void energy.

Concurrently, on every layer of the wall, the Kaoma had readied their cannons with its muzzle fully smoked out, hungry to puke out the balls inside their bodies. While all infantries who are not in the duty to man the cannons leaned their musket on the wall embrasure.

Every 5 cannons, there's a knife holder in charge of supporting the entire Kaoma on his group. They lit their [Tumbuk Lada] and began coating those muskets with maroon red energy. The same thing could be said to the cannons.

The void also has its own piece of artillery. It was a floating board carried by a steam of white mist, with a portal vertically opened on its center. The way the portal flowed on that artillery was quite bizarre and eerie to see. It also glowed really hard indicating how strong the energy was around it.

These artilleries were spread across the battlefield with their portals aimed at the Kaoma above the wall. Seeing that, I thought "That's not how you used artillery in a siege battle…" But then I realized, there's must be another thing they'll use to breach the city's wall.

Suddenly all those artilleries got their portal lit up, it was a clear sign that something gonna come shot out of it.

All the knife holders then responded by reforming the flow of magic on their Tumbuk Lada and summoned a giant chaos shield that covered the entire body of the wall, and the air above it, with the same radius from the top to the ground.

The entire city was now surrounded by giant chaos shields, and everyone inside can see how tall they are standing, lighting up maroon color through the night sky, no matter how deep you're in this Grand City.

Well, not really, this city is far too wide for a 50-meter chaos shield to be seen from the center where the war got barely noticed.

*Bzzz!*

The void artilleries carried out a weird bass boosted buzzing sound as they shot a ball of void energy at the shield created by the knife holder.

Each and every one of those balls struck the wall to no avail, and they exploded into a vertical pool of white mist which blurred the sight of the soldier manned on top of the wall.

"Night Almighty, those chaos shields are as strong as ever." Complimented Chiya.

Seeing the void already initiated their attack, the Kaoma quickly engage their counterattack. All the musket immediately blow their heart out, raining chaos-coated bullets to the crowding void at the Grand City's terrace.

However, the void also got their own Wizards, and they summoned thousands of void shields that absorbed all those bullets, preventing them from even touching their wandering army.

The void archer began pulling their bow, readying themselves to jump out of the safety of the void shield, and shot away their arrows at the Kaoma. Yet before they even manage to move their feet, the sands around them got obliterated by the balls of iron shot by the Kaoma's cannons.

Maroon explosion occurred everywhere, and I saw the limbs of the void army got torn flying all over the place. Their void shields are full of gaps, which is highly dreadful if an exploding projectile like a cannonball manages to penetrate through it.

"Should we join the fray too, brother?" Anna suggested from our seat high in the wall tower.

"No, the Kaoma is dominating the void army really hard, something clearly not add up. There's no way they needed the help of the Guild if the state of war between the two always runs like this." I said with a confused face.

"Oh, you're right, Your Highness! The chaos shield is not even budging, it's almost laughable." Chiya concurred.

Something has been on my mind since we arrived at this wall tower. The portal seed we spot earlier this afternoon still remained in the same shape. If they're truly a seed, that must've meant they can bloom into an actual portal right?

And then… not long after, my question got fully answered.

The seed grew… significantly, to the point its height put the wall to shame. A giant portal was opened, and I could see every dust from the air got absorbed within.

The atmosphere suddenly turned really fucking dense and heavy, it got us struggling to even breathe. I could feel my weight getting pulled down by how hefty the air had gotten.

I glimpsed on the bloomed portal, and I saw a giant foot, covered in black armor walking slowly out of that dimension hole. Every part of it was steaming with white mist, and they shone brighter than the full moon.

*Bam!* Its step alone caused the whole wall to tremble.

And As it showed its full glory, I saw a fully armored colossal warrior, with a huge longsword carried on its hand. Its eyes glowed with smoking white mist while staring sharply at the wall it was about to strike.

"Yep… that's a game-changer alright."
