"Alright, now that we are done with the required ones, let's head on to the elective courses."
I walked my way closer to where Chiya had been idling since that's the side where she wrote all the elective courses. The lady then stepped aside a little to give me some space.
"Well, aren't that some interesting list…"
I smiled glaring at all those courses, while the other archstudents tried to sink in each of its names to their brain.
[Introduction to Smithing]
[Introduction to Dancing]
[Introduction to Cooking]
[Introduction to Potions]
[Introduction to Hazardous Chemistry]
[Introduction to Exploring]
[Introduction to Mining]
[Introduction to Pottery]
[Introduction to Fashion]
[Introduction to Gardening]
[Introduction to Painting]
[Introduction to Transportation and Distribution]
[Introduction to Energy]
[Introduction to Trading]
[Introduction to Law & Order]
[Introduction to Sex]
[Introduction to Music]
[Introduction to Magical Combat]
[Introduction to Physical Combat]
After finishing my reading I smack the whiteboard with my hand to gain my classmates' attention. Seeing a list that diverse might troubled some of the Shaper's brain.
"As you can see, each and every single one of our current elective courses are an introduction to something." I started my explanation.
"Unlike most colleges, there's only one faculty exist here, we all gonna graduate under the same degree after all."
Well… stating the obvious I guess.
"But Guild is an independent organization, which consists of many individuals from different backgrounds and different specialties. All these hard skills will help you determine your role on the team or Guild in general, not just in combat, but also in daily life."
That's right. When we finally become Guild members, we'll mostly spend our life with our team, that's why having a hard skill that helps outside of combat is also important.
"For example, cooking, though I don't recommend anyone who is not Iska (Ice tribe) to take the course, why? Because in your 8-man team there will be at least one Iska there, they can be Siska (Ice tribe on Land) or Wiska (Ice tribe on Sky), but the thing is, they will always be in charge of the food the team eats, so learning to cook will be useless for you non-Iska."
Yeah, that's a good example.
"So try to pick the thing that's not just fun for you, but also can be used in your career as a Guild Member," I added.
"Your Highness, doesn't that means we should just pick a field that is related to our tribe?"
Busyana wasn't it? That's the name her friend called her right? The girl dressed in white and cyan, she asked again.
"I wouldn't say it like that…"
Hmm, I guess I need to point out all the associations responsible for elective courses.
"Okay, there are 4 types of elective courses, first is the one associated with the Land tribes."
Chiya got what I mean and started writing all courses from this type in the center of the whiteboard.
"10 courses for 10 different fields, with each tribe associated with 2 of them."
[Genka (fire) = Smithing, Dancing]
[Iska (ice) = Cooking, Potion making]
[Vhisawi (toxic) = Hazardous Chemistry, Exploring]
[Ambawak (earth) = Mining, Pottery]
[Sarma (nature) = Fashion, Gardening]
"Since we had 4 extra EXP left to spend, and every elective course this semester only gives 2 EXP, everyone from the Land can just take both of their signature fields," I explained.
"But, keep in mind that there are 3 other types that exist, and looking at them… might pique your interest darn well."
I decided to instantly continue my point so they don't get the wrong idea.
"The second type is the one associated with non Land tribes."
Chiya chose to erase the previous type list, and change it with the second one.
[Nyumen (water) = Painting]
[Wongali (wind) = Transportation & Distribution]
[Guntak (electricity) = Energy]
[Survya (darkness) = Trading]
[Hyakra (light) = Law & Order]
"Well, this is a Land college, after all, so you can expect they are more detailed about the education of the Land, rather than the Sky or the Ocean."
Yea, there's only one field for each non Land tribe.
"With this, the non Land folks will have to choose one more elective course that doesn't associate with their tribe right? Let's talk about that."
I cued Chiya to erase the previous one, and start writing the third type.
"The next one is the one associated with the Holy System."
[Muscicians = Music]
[Goddess of Love = Sex]
"Currently only the Goddess of Love who had her own course, I don't know if another member of the Holy System will also contribute their course in the future, but it is to be expected."
It is said that there are 180 members of the Holy System, but I only knew 40 of them. Most of God's topic that I know doesn't seem to be shareable though, unless maybe Goddess of Ceremony…? Oh or God of Dream! Being able to read the meaning of a dream sounds cool.
"Excuse my lack of knowledge Your Highness… but, what does it mean by… sex?" The Hyakra girl back with her question. And this time even redder than ever before.
"Sex? Ya Sex… the act of making love, I thought Scientists are experts in this topic?"
I have this big urge to tease her, but I need to hold it back to stay professional.
"N-NO!"
She yelled loudly and adorably. Now I hope no one gonna bully the girl during our college years. What a precious being.
"Sorry for being obnoxious Your Highness…" She averts her gaze, filled with embarrassment.
"Pay no mind to it." I tried my best to hold my laughter.
"Back to our topic… last type, the one associated with the Guild."
Without erasing the previous type, Chiya began writing the last one right under it.
[Magical Combat]
[Physical Combat]
"Yea… that's all about it."
"Oh, I forgot to mention, that the lecturer of each course will come from its association."
"Music will be taught by both Guild owner, sex by Goddess of Love follower—or maybe even Her Holiness Karissa herself (avatar), and both combat by the veteran of the Guilds."
I guess that means some of the archstudent's parents will be there to teach us, just like Mrs. Senaria whose the mother of Althea.
"At the end of the day, it is up to you to pick which elective course you wanted to take, but…" I tried to make a point.
"Pay attention to what your ability is, find a way to improve yourself, and don't do something you'll regret or be bored by it." Said yours truly, finishing this mini-lecture.
"Your Highness, do you have an ideal recipe for self-improvement?"
Busyana asked again. Though that's not a question I expect coming from a Scientist who is known for their smart brains…
"Self-improvement…? Eh, whatever, it's your choice."
Even tho I asked them to pick something they won't regret...
"My recommendation for 'self-improvement' is 1 field from your tribe, and 1 combat field. Again… that only applies if you only wanted to study."
Judging from her expression I bet she could see that I'm not keen on the idea of just dedicating college experience to ONLY improving ourselves as a Guild member. But she already made her decision, which I can respect.
"Don't rush too much on filling your CSS, we got all night to think about it."
