Chapter 81: The Conflict Between Alexander and Smith
In the restroom of the auditorium.
Vincent knelt on the floor, trembling all over, his terrified eyes fixed on Alexander.
Leaning casually against the sink, Alexander smiled faintly and said, "Your sister has been quite quiet lately. Are you hiding something from me?"
Vincent shouted, "Big Brother! How could I dare! I report everything my sister does to you immediately!"
A blue flame ignited in Alexander's palm. Vincent's pupils shrank as he sensed that the flame carried the same aura as the one that had tortured his mind.
He began banging his head on the tiled floor, tears and snot streaming down his face. "Big Brother, please spare me! I swear, apart from trivial matters, I've told you everything!"
Alexander frowned. "Trivial matters?"
Vincent quickly raised his head and blurted out, "My sister has been dating an inspector from the capital recently!"
Alexander looked into Vincent's eyes and asked, "And then?"
Vincent had no idea what his sister and Jonathan were up to, so he began rambling about everything he knew. "She's been meeting that inspector at some café lately. Damn, that whore acts all proper most of the time, but the moment she meets someone with power, she turns into a bitch in heat!"
Alexander's expression darkened slightly. "A café? Which café?"
Vincent's eyes widened as he recalled, "Old Oak! The Old Oak Café in the East District!"
Alexander's face grew stern. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?"
Vincent stammered in fear, his mouth agape, before finally blurting out, "Big Brother, do you want that slut too? I can help you!"
Alexander stared at Vincent for a long time before speaking. "Everything your sister does is for your sake, and this is how you talk about her behind her back?"
Vincent's face twisted with resentment. "She's just embarrassed by her useless brother and thinks I'll ruin her reputation! If it weren't for her making me investigate Ethan Blake, I wouldn't be in this mess."
He trailed off, realizing the rest of his words—"being controlled by you"—were better left unsaid.
Alexander ignored Vincent after that.
He hadn't expected to run into Vincent here, nor did he expect Welma to be poking around the café.
Alexander realized it was time to take action.
Welma couldn't be allowed to live—she had to die!
But Alexander couldn't do it himself.
The death of a security bureau chief would cause a nationwide stir, and he couldn't risk that.
Exiting the restroom, Alexander decided to return.
The massive cake that Adam had been eagerly waiting for had finally arrived on stage.
A towering twenty-layer cake, the centerpiece of every child's anticipation.
Of course, the most delicious part—the layer with strawberries—was at the very top.
As soon as the cake was wheeled out, the children waiting in the grand hall rushed toward it.
The parents watched from their seats with amused smiles.
Adam, always ready, was the first to grab the coveted strawberry cream and happily ran toward the stage.
He wanted to give the best strawberry to his big brother Alexander.
But perhaps he was too excited. He tripped on a rug, and the cream from his plate smeared onto a man's shoes.
The man, none other than Smith, who had been enjoying the flirtatious attention of several beautiful women, looked down in displeasure at the boy who had fallen at his feet.
"Whose child is this? Does he have no manners?"
Adam stood up timidly. "I'm sorry, Uncle. I'll clean your shoes."
Balancing the plate in one hand, Adam began wiping Smith's shoes with the other, only to make them dirtier.
At that moment, a woman nearby exclaimed in surprise, "Hey, isn't that Will's child? How did he end up at East Port Elementary?"
Though Will wasn't a big shot, he was a small leader in the Black Dragon Gang.
Many of the parents here had either entertained guests at places like the Golden Glory KTV or had been customers themselves.
This particular woman remembered Will because of his habit of bringing his child to the KTV where he worked.
The name Will was all too familiar to Smith.
Two months ago, Will had killed several people, causing an uproar at the security bureau.
Smith's face twisted with disgust. "A criminal's child in school? What was the school thinking? Are they trying to raise another criminal?"
Adam froze, his eyes wide with shock. "That's not true! My dad isn't a criminal!"
Alexander had never told Adam what had really happened to Will, only that he had gone to work out of town.
Smith sneered, "Your father's a criminal. I was there when they caught him. And your mother? She's a whore. She's been sleeping with the Black Dragon Gang's boss for years, making a fool of your father until he finally killed her."
Furious, Adam hurled the cake in his hand at Smith's face. "You're lying! How dare you say that about my parents!"
Smith was dumbfounded.
This little brat had just thrown a cake at him?
Not far away, Welma, witnessing the scene, gasped and rushed over, quickly pulling out tissues to wipe Smith's face.
"Director Smith, don't be angry. The child doesn't know any better. You're a director—be the bigger person. Please don't blame him."
Smith's face darkened with rage.
Welma's attempt to smooth things over only fueled his anger further.
Willard Smith cursed, "A worthless brat with no one to raise him right! Let me teach you a lesson on behalf of your jailed father!"
With that, he kicked Adam to the ground and was about to stomp on him.
Footsteps echoed from a distance.
In the now silent auditorium, the sound was loud and clear.
Everyone turned to see a young man in a black trench coat approaching.
His eyes were cold, and he walked forward step by step.
Will had been his subordinate, captured while working for him.
What now?
Can the president of the Mercenary Guild not even protect the children of his subordinates?
Seeing Alexander, Adam found his support and burst into tears, "Brother, he called my dad a criminal!"
Alexander took a tissue from his pocket, knelt down, and wiped Adam's hands clean.
Then, standing up, he turned his gaze toward Willard Smith.
To the crowd watching, Alexander's actions were defiant.
Wanting to stand up for the child was understandable, but... did he even know who he was up against?
They all assumed Alexander was a friend or relative of Will.
The onlookers remained silent, their faces hiding delighted smiles, eager for the drama to unfold.
Willard Smith, irritated by Alexander's stare, shouted, "What are you looking at?! Are you one of Will's lackeys? Damn, you scum of society make me sick!"
Alexander raised his hand and slapped Willard Smith across the face.
Smack!
The sound of the slap stunned Willard Smith, as well as everyone present.
Willard Smith, the director, had been slapped by this guy?
This young man in the trench coat was finished.
Welma instinctively took two steps back, afraid of getting involved.
Wasn't Alexander supposed to be gentle? How could he be so fierce?
Willard Smith, dazed for a moment, nearly lost his mind.
"Fuck your mother! If I don't take you down today, I'll consider all my years of experience a waste!"
Willard Smith's hands suddenly glowed with a thick green light.
[Talent: Venomous.]
"You think you're someone important?! Assaulting a police officer? You've got some nerve! I could kill you right now, and no one would say a thing!"
His venom-covered hand shot toward Alexander's neck.
"Stop!"
A sharp voice cut through the tension.
Everyone looked to see who had the guts to intervene.
It was Vincent, running over in a panic, punching Willard Smith square in the face.
"Are you trying to get yourself killed?!" he yelled.
