(CHAP TER 36: WINDMILL ISLAND)
"You can get up there?" Fei stare at me with doubt. "Yeah." I nodded, flame burst out from my heels as it propels me a little above ground, proving him that I can. "Then you better keep up with me." With that his body shone, for an instant I saw a glimpse of phoenix wings unfolding out of him, and the next minute he is already gone. "Be quick! Slowpoke!" I could hear him urging me from above.
"Alright!" I scream back with the top of my lungs. "Here." I lowered down my body a bit and open my arms, gesturing for Aiko to climb onto me. Without some ability to fly, it is impossible to reach Fei's house. Wonder why that bastard chose that as his resting place. "Come on." Seeing her hesitating, I straight up carry her into my arms and propel us towards it.
Time sure do flies huh.
I remember back in the day before I awaken my power, she would carry me around. At that time I am no more than just a weak kid, shorter, skinny, about to fucking die any second sooner or later. Now when I am stronger, I am the one that is carrying her, and I will do this forever. I had too much debt left onto her. Debts that only I can pay someday with my life.
"We are here." I said softly as we landed on the platform built by him at the edge of his "house". Or should I say a freaking island that floats mid-air hundreds of meters above ground? The island was quite huge, the only structure and the island itself was a windmill, as a source of electricity and the house itself. It is also accomplished with basic facilities such as kitchen, bathroom, a mini slime farm, basic shits alright. The total surface area of the island is not large, but enough for a man to live in.
"And now we got three." Fei let out a sigh. "Just one night, you two will be staying at the academy's dorm tomorrow." "How did this island manage to say afloat." I was expecting a hot air balloon or something to keep the island floating like this. But this things sort of defies gravity, feels like pointing the middle finger in front of newtons face. Will all those structures, a windmill and three person on top of it, it doesn't had the slightest tremble or imbalance. Fells like raping physic and logic itself and rubbing its damn face on the ground.
"The phoenix breath. See those yellow clouds surrounding the island?" Fei replied his question blankly, all that he mind right now, is whether is king sized bed is going to be taken away from him. "So where are we staying tonight?" The moment I asked, Fei let out a deep breath so deep as if that question almost rip his heart out. "You can stay at my bed." After a few seconds he finally answered, he felt like he just gave away her precious baby at a dollar store.
"Just for one day alright. Imma stay at the balcony." After leading them around the house and show them the one and only bedroom, Fei left, his tone is filled with sadness and misery. He exited the room, leaving just Aiko and me. "Don't stay up too early! Or do anything stupid!! You need to wake up early tomorrow!!" Through the door they could hear Fei shouting before exiting the windmill and towards the balcony outside.
"Where are you going?" After settling down Aiko on the bed, I headed out of the room. "I am not asleep tonight." I lied. "I will always be there for you alright." I patted her on the head. "Here, this will make you safer." I reach for my backpack and take out a gigantic carrot plush toy. I got this before reaching the medic, and it was Fei's suggestion, he sure do know girls, wonder why he is still single. "Thank you." She hugged the plush toy and smiled, that sweet goddamn motherfucking smile. I blushed and exited the room. "Good night." I turn back and whispered, before closing the door shut.
As I exited the room, I let out a deep breath.
Selina and Raven is still gone.
With he himself, there is no way he could save the two.
Although Fei guaranteed that the Moon is already working on the case, the chances are slim.
Where are they heading?
With all those questions, I headed out towards the balcony, looking for Fei, looking for answers.
"Got the girl you wanted." The door of the metal cage was opened with a squeak as Selina was dragged out from it and tossed onto the floor. "You are going to keep the other?" The man asked. "I needed her. I had been hunting her down for ages, she could change out tide of war. Looks like fate really is a wonderful thing, huh." The figure in a crow mask answered as the two stared at the other cage. The girl within it let out a whimper, her white wings shudder in fear.
"How about that son of a bitch." The man asked again, amused to see the two frightened. "The old man let him escape, but I think he would come for these two." The man with the crow mask let out a chuckle. "All we needed to do is to wait." "Let's see if he will really come for you two. But for the meantime…" The figure step into the light. Seeing his face, the girl almost broke down. She thought he was dead, but no, the true devil is still lurking among them. He reached out his mechanical arm and grab him her cat tail as he lifted her up. She felt as if her tail is going to be rip out from her as she let out screams of pain.
"I am going to let you experience pain. Pain that you can't even imagine."
