A retired god, Kira, has recently passed on his job to a successful hero and decides to open a cafe for characters from all corners of the multiverse. Heroes, villains, and anything in between are welcome to come hang out, trade, and visit other worlds for missions. ------------------------------------------ My first time writing anything so it's probably gonna be garbage but don't go easy on me. Criticism of all kinds is welcome. I won't make any promises about update consistency, university is hell.
[Orario, Kira POV]
Late in the evening, the streets of the Labyrinth city, Orario, are bustling as I slowly stroll to my destination.
The cafe has been empty, excluding Jean, for a few days now since the first mission ended, and everyone went back to their own worlds. I had expected someone like Xavier or Scott to come make a scene after taking away Rogue's powers, but surprisingly they never did.
To be honest, I was kinda hoping they would, as it would at least be a little entertainment in my currently dull life with the cafe being empty most of the time.
I really gotta implement some features to get people to spend more time in the cafe and come visit daily. I do have some ideas, but that will come later, for today, I'm here to have fun and cause some chaos.
Leading others from the shadows and making them grow stronger seemed appealing before, but already it's starting to get boring. As such, I have decided to get a bit more proactive and come visit some of my future guests before they even get the chance to find me.
I still aim to make others stronger for future struggles, but it wouldn't hurt to get involved every once in a while, right?
While pondering over that, I reach my destination.
Looking up, I see a giant statue of a man wearing an elephant mask, Ganesha. Inside here, there is currently a banquet being hosted for gods, and for me, that means it's the perfect playground to have some fun.
I cast an invisibility spell on myself before entering to ensure that no one stops me and walk right past the guards at the doors.
There are gods all over the place drinking alcohol and chatting with each other, most of them, however, are just side characters that I don't care about. For now, I decide to go stand near the wall of a particular table, turn off my invisibility and wait for a good opportunity to make my entrance.
Standing next to the table, or more like crouching next to the table, is a short goddess piling dumpling into her mouth and basket one after another.
Just as she is about to finish, another goddess approaches from behind her. "Good evening, Hestia."
Startled, the short goddess identified as Hestia stands up, facing the culprit. "Freya."
"Did I interrupt?"
"I just don't know how to handle you."
To this, Freya gives a short laugh before commenting, "And I like that about you."
Swallowing the last of the dumpling in her mouth, Hestia looks past Freya. "Well, you could be worse. Like…"
Running down the stairs is the red-haired goddess Loki. From here, things progress just like the original story with Loki insulting Hestia's height and Hestia answering in kind by making fun of the former's breast size.
Soon enough, their fight amasses a considerable audience who are already making bets on who will win, I decide to step in before Loki gets the chance to leave.
"Hey there, how has your night been so far?" I say, pushing my way straight through the crowd and approach the catfight.
The one who answers me is Freya looking confused, trying to figure out who I am. "Who are you? You don't look like a servant, you do know this is a banquet for gods, right?"
"My name is Kira, you wouldn't know me, it's my first time in this world." Technically the truth since it's my first time in the danmachi universe.
Assuming I'm talking about coming down from heaven for the first time, Loki questions me, completely forgetting her fight with Hestia. "Oh? A new god hasn't been born in like… forever. What are you the god of?"
"Me, oh well, I'm just the humble god of… everything." Yeah, let's go with that.
The crowd of gods that has been eying me starts getting rowdy, calling me out as a fake and trying to get me kicked out of here.
Not saying anything to them, I see another red-haired goddess approach from behind me, I recognize her as Hephaestus by her eyepatch. This could be an excellent opportunity to show off.
"I definitely feel some sort of godly aura from you, but it's not strong, still the god of everything? That claim is a little hard for me to believe." She tells me, trying to feel for my divinity. It's not that I don't have a lot of it, rather you are too weak to sense any of it.
Well, whatever, this is my chance to show off and have fun, I won't let any of these gods ruin my time. Moving quickly and without warning, I put my hand over her eyepatch.
She tries to pull away, but before she can, my hand starts to shine as I cast a strong healing spell and put her eyepatch into an inventory simultaneously, leaving her formerly deformed right eye out in the open, looking as normal as her left one.
"..." The crowd goes silent trying to understand what just happened.
Hephaestus, who has tried everything possible to have her eye healed but failed every time got it fixed just like that?
The looks they are giving me definitely make coming here worth it.
Taking my chance while they are all behaving well, I hand out four business cards to Hestia, Loki, Hephaestus, and Freya. Well, I'm just putting them in their hands since their brains still haven't come back online.
"Alright, everyone, thanks for the fun time, cya," I say and teleport away, disappearing from everyone's sight. Wonder what they will do when they realize there are no new gods in heaven.
Before leaving the world entirely, I choose to sow a little more chaos and send a telepathic message to a blond god who had been eyeing me from afar the whole time. "Hey, Dionysus, or should I say Enyo. Have fun summoning the underworld."
I'm sure he will have fun trying to figure out how I learned of his plan for a long time to come.
A few minutes later, the gods and goddesses at the banquet finally return to whatever they were doing before and leave the four on their own.
Realizing that some business cards have appeared in their hands, they look them over.
'Wish to get rid of the shackles of your divinity? Come visit God's Cafe.'
"How do we get there, though? There are no directions on this card." Loki asks the rest of the group.
"..."
Me being socially inept and having no experience is crippling my ability to write good dialogue.
Who could have seen it coming.
