Battle Of New York

[New York City, third person POV]

In a small alleyway right next to the main street, three women appear out of thin air.

These three are, of course, Wonder Woman, Poison Ivy, and Jean Grey with the Phoenix sitting on her shoulder.

Looking around, the streets are devastated with blown-up cars at the side of the road and big pieces falling from the skyscrapers down on the road below, leaving holes everywhere.

A little ways away, a group of eight people are assembling in a circle, looking up toward the army of aliens coming out of the portal in the sky.

"Alright, we only have 15 minutes for this mission, but how about we introduce ourselves first, Poison Ivy and I already know each other, but we don't know you." Wonder Woman addresses the two in the mission with her.

"I will start, I am Wonder Woman, but you can call me Diana, my powers are superhuman level strength, speed, and stamina."

"Poison Ivy or Pamela, call me whichever you want, I can communicate with and control plants," Pamela says, demonstrating her power by summoning a huge vine that breaks through the road.

"I'm Jean Grey, this is actually the same world I am from. My powers are telepathy and telekinesis. My companion here doesn't have a name yet, but most call her the Phoenix, we can choose to temporarily coexist in the same body, and then we will be stronger than many gods."

(I'm tired of calling the Phoenix "it" so now it's a "her")

As the two had inhabited the same body for many years, they managed to figure out how to recombine their powers even after Kira separated the two. Unfortunately, they aren't able to keep up that form for long currently since their souls are no longer connected.

"Good, we only have a few minutes here, so we shou-" Wonder Woman gets cut off by a huge green monster running past their alleyway. He smashes a car down on one of the aliens before jumping on the said car several times.

"Since you are from this world, do you have any clue who these people are? They seem to be on our side fighting the aliens and all." Pamela asks Jean

"Most of them, yeah, I suppose I could give you a quick rundown. The green one you just saw is called the Hulk, I heard he fought the military in Harlem a few years ago before disappearing. The man carrying a shield is Steve Rogers, an old war hero from World War 2 that got frozen in ice, right next to him is Tony Stark, a billionaire who built a suit of armor for fighting." Jean introduces one by one, pointing to the respective heroes.

"The next two I know personally. Wolverine and Storm, the two of them used to be my teachers but left the school at the same time as me due to circumstances I would rather not talk about right now, no clue how they ended up here."

"The last three I have never heard about," She finishes, but the Phoenix jumps in.

"The guy with the hammer is Thor, the god of thunder. I never met him personally, but I've had a few run-ins with his father, Odin."

That just leaves the redheaded woman and the archer unidentified.

"Right with that all out of the way, let us focus on the mission. As I tried to say before, we only have limited time, so we must be quick. First, we need to figure out how to close the portal, if it stays open, killing the Chitauri will not help us much as more will just keep coming." Wonder Woman urges the other two as over a minute of their time has already passed.

"We could go ask the ones fighting the aliens. Jean said she knows two of them personally, so it shouldn't be too difficult to approach them." Pamela offers, signaling to Wolverine specifically as the one called Storm flew off into the sky to take care of the flying aliens.

Agreeing with this plan, the three hurry out onto the streets and head to where Wolverine is currently busy stabbing his claws into an alien's eyes while Captain America covers his side, bonking an alien on the head with his shield.

Even as they are approaching from behind the man, Wolverine turns around, not surprised at all thanks to his superior senses.

"Jean, I expected a mission to be sent here for this but didn't think you would come." He says to Jean and nods to the other two as a greeting.

"Mission? What is this about, Logan?" Captain America asks before turning to the three women, "You shouldn't be out here right now, can't you see it's dangerous?"

He throws his shield, which bounces between the heads of three Chitauri, taking them all out before coming back to Cap's hand.

"Relax, Steve, I can assure you they can handle themselves," Wolverine tells him and puts his arm on Captain America's shoulder, knowing that anyone sent here from another world should be strong enough to survive.

Another Chitauri jumps from the sky, trying to get a surprise attack on the group but gets pierced by a sharp vine bursting out from the ground.

"Well, you two seem close. Anyways were here to help stop the alien invasion, any clue how to close that portal up there?" Jean asks the two men, surprised at how well the two seem to get along.

"Steve and I used to be in the same regiment during the second world war. I only found out after finding myself on some of the pictures in his museum." Wolverine explains why he is being so friendly toward the shield-bearer.

A Chitauri tries to sneak up from behind Wolverine to stab him with a spear, but an arrow flies out from nowhere, piercing his head before he even gets close.

Deciding to trust Wolverine on the strength of the women standing before him, Captain America starts talking.

"The thing powering the portal is up on that tower over there," He says, pointing to the top of Stark Tower. "We've got Tony and Natasha fighting their way there already, but it wouldn't hurt to get extra help."

Bullets fly toward Wonder Woman, who just deflects them with her bracers, sending them back to several Chitauri.

"That's the plan then, Jean you go up there and help shut that portal, Poison Ivy, and I will stay down here to help fight the aliens." Wonder Woman lays out the plan.

Hearing this, Jean takes a few steps away from everyone, and extreme heat starts emitting from her as her body gets covered in flames that melt the road below her.

"Uhh, Jean? You okay there?" Wolverine askes, using his arm to cover his face from the heat.

"Totaly fine, just trying out combining with the Phoenix for the first time, things got a little out of hand." She says before taking off into the air.
